Honestly, she could completely drop everything and never make anything again and she could easily feel that not only was her and dreams she had fulfilled She's rightfully going to remembered for a VERY long time for all of this. That being said I hope she's here for a looooooooong time. All of them, really.
With Shadowbringers and Endwalker, this woman wrote probably the most profound pro-humanist story's ever. I remember when she came to Seattle during Pax and everyone gave her a standing ovation.
It's about time two things happened and they both did. Firstly, Ishikawa gets the recognition she deserves. Secondly, the fans make her cry after she's made us cry so much. Ishikawa truly is wonderful.
Being there. In person. For all of this, it was surreal and beautiful. The emotion just traveled from one person to the next. The appreciation and love is not a one way street with this team. They love us as much as we love them. And Ishikawa deserves all the praise for her hard work.
It's so amazing when an incredible story and a game can bring a whole community together like this. I still get teary-eyed at the streamer collab on Close in the Distance.
She VERY deserved this! She is a very talented writer! She is one of the bigest reasons why Shadowbringers and Endwalker gived me one of my best gaming/story experiences ever! Shadowbringers too but mostly Endwalker gave me feelings that i don't think that i ever experienced from a game. Ishikawa is just amazing and so adorable ! I think Yoshi-P is very proud of her. And so many players around the world loving her work.
Huge W for the live audience at Fan Fest. She deserves all the love she gets from the community and she shows that it’s reciprocated. SE would be absolutely crazy to not put her as story lead for ff17 and letting her have full narrative control.
I don't know if she would neccesarily want that much pressure. She is often careful to make a point of mentioning she is part of a team which creates these stories. Honestly, the best thing for an artist like her is to put her in the place she is most comfortable in creating her art.
SE have noticed by now how amazing she is, i wouldn't be surprised if she is writing for FF17 which is already in production for awhile now, there is always another FF game in the making during each release.
I had to rewatch this just to see her cry not once but ample amount of times just because her writing and her presence as an amazing writer will always be inspirational and so true. That and I could not stop myself from crying too because she kept crying too.

I am not a crier. I don't cry. Maybe a single tear here and there. Maybe at funerals. But Endwalker did me in multiple times over. And the Hingashi and Othard side of Stormblood into Shadowbringers into Endwalker? God damn that was a rollercoaster that just didn't let up and it was all crafted so, so beautifully. For all the waterfalls of tears you gave us Ms. Natsuko, now you get some wholesome tears of your own. Take that! Honestly she deserves all the great recognition and praise she gets. She's done a hell of a job heading up easily the most memorable story I've ever had the pleasure of seeing and playing. I'd place some other rare top stories next to what she wrote but nothing will ever surpass it in my eyes.
Gigakawa the GOAT! she deserves all the love and recognition for her work on many stories in the game especially for DRK's job quests and shadowbringers imo
My first ff game was 16. I absolutely loved it so I decided to try out 14. I’m only like 6-7 hours into it but in that time I cancelled all my other subscriptions because I feel like I found my mmo. I’ve been playing swtor for years I don’t want to guess how many hours. Put hundreds of hours into ESO. I did try WoW but just can’t get into it, but ff14 just takes the cake. I absolutely love stories in games and everyone tells me it just keeps getting better as it goes so I’m looking forward to when I get to her content.
The crowd let her speak >:( , they should have chanted her name , overwhelm her with love to the point she breaks down and is unable to speak , she deserve tears as she bring so many to the community .
To have crafted a narrative to move so many people. It was NOT just her....Soken and his team also play a huge part in that. Blending the story and music together is why FFXIV is so successful. I am so happy she got this moment! Very well deserved!
Someone should show this to Witcher showrunner and writers. I'm 100% sure no one would ever chant their names for what they did. Also, finally some payback on Ishikawa!!
It sounded like, to me, 'Thank you for your praise.'. She deserves it and much more after how much and how many hearts she touched with her storytelling.
She is the writer of shadowbringer considered one of the best mmo and final fantasy stories, also many of the best written and developed side stories come from her, that's why the community appreciates her a lot
She achieved something really rare nowadays: provoke the same or similar emotions on different people with different backgrounds. We may disagree what characters are our favorites but everyone understand why someone would appreciate character X or Y. Not every writer is able to do this. She kept consistence and built intriguing characters that transcends fantasy. Extremely rare, specially in games. She said "THank you, warriors of light." To show how much she appreciate acknowledgement from the community. She started really low as a side quest writer and now she is writing and leading the main story.
We showered her with so much love at FanFest, too. Really went crazy with the cheers for her tonight (chanting her name multiple times) and I think that, too, was overwhelming. It's been years since any of them have been able to meet with so many fans in person. Yoshi-P cried, too. The pandemic hit them all hard, but our love kept them going. Seeing that in person again must have been something really special.
Honestly, with how much the community loves Ishikawa, I'm baffled beyond words as to why she isn't the main MSQ writer for 7.0 and beyond. If I'm YoshiP, it simply is the most logical decision to appoint her as the writer in order to keep players happy and obsessed with this game thus, continuous profit. Such a waste of talent, truly. Whatever new project she's working on, I can only hope it's a risk worth taking.
She wasn't the main writer as staff need a break now and then. As far as I know she's still a part of FF14 as one of the senior writers, it's literally just the lead management that she isn't handling at the moment.
It sounded like she would still be involved just not as a lead, but into a more overseer type role. I think they are worried about the writing being predictable. They want to move on from the Zodiark/Hydaelin, Ancient/ Ascian ark ( which I love and have trouble imagining the game without) so to do that they change writing lead. I definitely share your concern.
She's also been part of the writing team since 1.0 and has written a lot of side content as well (Crystal Tower, Dark Knight Storyline, the Othard part of Stormblood, and some of the patches). The ARR and Heavensward lead was working on 16 during this time mostly. So as others said, it's probably to give her a break. Realistically you can't keep pushing out stories without some rest.
I think all of you who replied is missing my point. I'm well aware of the work she's done. I'm well aware that she's still part of the team, but relegated to a lead role. That doesn't change the fact that, as a huge fan of hers, I can't be saddened by the fact that future expansions won't be written by her. That's all.
That’s why FF14 players love and respect their game devs. We can disagree on things sometimes, but you overall show love and respect to the dev team. They thank you also and show their appreciation for you playing their game and do it live as well in hearth felt gesture. Don’t see Blizzard doing that or in any hearth felt meaningful way. Just lip service. Ishikawa deserve all the love for great story writing with her team for all the expansions.

There's a lot I don't agree with in endwalkers messaging, and I still think the Ancients deserved better than they got, but it was an ultimately enjoyable piece on it's own even if I disagree entirely with the idea that they seem to be selling to me.
Shadowbringers will most likely be the peak if FFXIV in terms of story-telling / MSQ and I'm grateful that she wrote such an amazing expansion. Endwalker was a big stumble, but clearly the writing team was struggling because of the FFXVI split + mashing 2 expansions into one. I really hope she gets the same time and freedom she got with Shadowbringer for her next project.
