This man doesn't nearly get enough recognition.
what an inspiration of our time.
That’s because he doesn’t seek recognition…. He just does his thing.
Really a shame he sold all of it. I don't think the new owner has any videos of the sub yet.
@@tijn4889the new owner is Gaben, the owner of Steam.
he is my new hero i got to talk to victor on social media , i had so many things to ask him but decided to keep it brief and to simple hello ......wow what a fellow
When you look at this set up, vs the Titian and Ocean Gate's set up... it really has the look of this is what professional certified people do, vs dude in his back yard doing a DIY project.
Seeing this and how deep they go with out issues makes that whole ocean gate situation sad, that whole industry warned that guy that something bad would happen eventually
so sad to think :(
yup this one guy probably has way more funding oceangate ever had. this old man fucken flies his own private jet around like wtf
The pressure vessel on this sub was made from two forged hemispheres of titanium. It went to russia for testing and withstood 20% more pressure than than what the vessel will experience at the challenger deep. Ocean gate’s vessel was very experimental compared to triton’s sub.
@@Michal_S0L That “old man” is Victor Vescovo, go and look up his Wikipedia entry for an eye opener!
@@TheOneAndOnIyCake. Yeah, “experimenting” with people’s lives.
Its difficult at best to state the gravity of what Victor has endeavored, researched, funded and ultimately accomplished not only for himself, but also those guests, team members and the entire world also. As mentioned, the ability to REPEATEDLY, SAFELY dive to these deepest of places for HOURS on bottom offers unprecedented opportunities for scientific discovery, furthering our understanding of previously unknown realms of our own planet. He has led the way to the true final frontier here on Earth. James Cameron did it earlier, but not to the extent Victor did, as Victor's entire project was designed to be repeated, practically at will with the pertinent team members, who are all responsible and without whose efforts the project would never have been completed. I am truly awestruck by what these folks have accomplished for our world. Full salute 👏 and kudos to Victor and all involved in this wonderful project for all mankind, thank you all.😎🤘🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I bet you would buy his bath water 🛀
@@GodblessyouchildAmen not quite, I prefer my own. Ha, I see I struck a nerve. Good, that was the point after all. Jealous much???
@@GodblessyouchildAmen Ps, you watch waaaay too many cartoons. You realize those are for young children don't you TED??? Maybe that's your shtick.
Victor has a lot of knowledge and what really helps him is understanding what he is doing and testing it beyond what it is intended to do. He doesn't work outside that box.
James Cameron is a kid in front of Victor
The outstanding professionalism, from the submarine building, to the crew, and the video production, everyone, is truly breathtaking. And Victor looks like one of those legendary explorers from the past that everybody thought went extinct.
loving this whole series, can't believe I was unaware of this project until recently.
Thanks! Tell your friends . . .
SAME!! I'm playing catch up and watching all the videos! Absolutely love what they're doing and hope to see more!

Salute sir!!
I'm going to be honest with you guys, not only this series are great and the accomplishments of the team are remarcable... But the moment when they talk with the guys at the ISS, was AMAZING. I got goosebumps!
Fool. ISS is fake and that trans has never set foot on a spaceship.
Yeah, with Kathy Sullivan! The first person to visit space and the deepest point on Earth!
Congratulations victor on the enormity of your continued success. You will be getting a lot of traffic on your videos now after the titan disaster. It’s great to see how you did all of this with safety in mind the whole time and a respect for the ocean. You designed that sub perfectly with such tight tolerances. I loved your video on how you made it. I want more content. Im addicted to this stuff now
Same. So strange too. I had no interest at all prior to OceanGate 😂 it’s actually fascinating learning about all this, but sad to see how warned Stockton Rush was and yet he gave literally zero thought or care to any of it. Unfortunately killing people😭 however, I agree phenomenal documentary!
@@Objection_23and1 I’m glad you liked it.
All of you are heroes of my family! My 6-year-old daughter has watched "5 deeps" videos many times. She know every heroe of the expedition, names of all equipment and even all species of sea animals, that were catched on the sea bottom . I`m very gratefull to your great team- you inspire, motivate people to dream, to explore, to be curious and strong. You are the best!
It,s like being part of adive, very cool.
This is so wholesome. Doing exactly that through work like this, proves that everything we do - can indeed be fruitful and timeless, if we do it with care and intent. I can only imagine the feeling of realizing that your very young child, already managed to get inspired by something that could fulfill her whole life, with both purpose and security. Amazing. Thank you for taking the time to share this. I see you brother.
Damn the production of these is insane. More eyes should be on this!
I agree but I wish we got more footage from the actual bottom and any life seen travelling down. These are incredible videos but I want to see what they see down there.
@@contorta960 true. Part of the beauty of this is the simplicity. What you want to see is exponentially more work, not something someone puts together on their free time. But maybe arrowhead can hire him and get him working on these full time
Man what fantastic company! I tip my hat to these great pioneers!
seeing the safety system go so well was great. An amazing machine
this is likely one of the most inspirational documentaries ever created
I miss doing this stuff. Spent 6 years out there doing this so seeing these videos of you guys is bringing back a lot of amazing memories. Keep up the good work!
this is what humanity should be doing, exploring, investigating, innovating new ways to reach beyond the known into the unknown... all these talented people working together to make the impossible - possible... reminds me of me being a young boy watching the Apollo moon missions... then on grainy black and white TV. we looked to the future it was full of endless horizons... we had hope this is exactly what we all need... thanks for showing and sharing a little of this great endeavor....
Hard to believe I'm just now hearing of Victor and this marvel of engineering.
23:58 - Thanks for the well rounded personalities that were selected. This one hadn't shared any Frontier risks. His communication proved it.
Your films are stunning and I keep coming back to this channel! Keep them coming!
Who else is here doing research after the Titan's tragedy?
I didn’t even know about this vessel until the titan implosion. I just got super interested in this whole deep sea exploration. I think it’s so cool. This video shows how you are supposed to respect the massive pressures and the sea
So cool. This is what makes me proud of humanity. If we didn’t have explorers like this, life would be very dull.

Incredible congrats Kelly
This is truly unbelievable❤
I admire Kathy for all of her accomplishments.
Love that this video mentions how the backup safety procedure of resurfacing on the LF automatically kicked in and dropped weights, as soon as battery drainage was detected. That way, in case the operator forgot to check how the batteries were, he or she would never make the mistake of being underwater while the batts. begin dying out. They thought out all scenarios for this vehicle, and rightfully so. (So imagine the hubris of not listening to experienced engineers, managers and operators telling you to adopt the same overplanning practice, simply because you hate being schooled. Imagine how out of touch with reality of Death you'd have to be to think you could maybe go on living with that attitude.)
Sounds like they either didn't have a dive checklist or that list was missing one crucial item. Hopefully learned a lesson.
You're a gift to this world Victor Vescovo, sir. o7
Something went wrong but they were able to get back safely. 😊
So incredibly interesting

What do they do for natural urges in 13 hrs. Also is bbq before d day good idea. I guess they clean / enema before diving & take electrolytes

Victor ive always been curious. I see you did a BBQ before heading out on your expedition, but what kinds of foods do you guys eat while ON expedition on the boats?
ha! question answered at 14:00
next a conversation between the iss and the crew at the deepest point in the ocean
What a job!!!!
Ironically the Titan tragedy has boosted interest in deep ocean exploration. Hopefully no one will be this reckless again or be allowed to be. Can Cameron please release The Abyss 4K already?
Wonderful stuff, Victor. I am very curious what the cycle life of the pressure hull is, and I am assuming it is lifetime depth dependent.
for example alvin the us deep sea vessel has allready done 5000+ dives it should last "forever" when build in this form and not go deeper than rated
@@hamishalexander5048The Limiting Factor sub is rated for full ocean depth and is built with a titanium hull so it will be fine for hundreds of dives.
@@Deanooooo dont tell me that :) and im sure its more than hundreds :)
When you and your team of engineers actually know how to design and build a deep-sea submersible.
We hear so much about Space Exploration.
Interesting as Space Exploration is, Oceanic Exploration is far more interesting because it’s HOME. ET HOME.
As a huge space nerd, i actually completely agree with you =)

So epic
THEY ARENT PLAYING AROUND WITH GOING DEEP, BUT THEY RESPECT THE LAWS OF PHYSICS
Did you help in trying to find titan
can u communicate from challenger deep to ISS?
This dude doesn’t buy Rolexes. He buys deep water spaceships. Then takes people with him.
@ 9:24 sub is at bottom 10km below surface, there are small fish swimming about!! 😮😮😮 their bodies have adapted and can withstand the tremendous pressure of 1000 bars!!😮😮😮 how is that even possible!😮😮😮
It’s pretty simple really. Their bodies are at equal pressure. They have evolved to be almost like water itself. You won’t find any large mammals at that depth though because they haven’t evolved to be able to handle that pressure
@@jamesepperson5940yep
Rarely you’ll find deep sea animals at the surface and they look like jelly because there is not enough pressure to maintain their form
The technology is amazing.
But are these diving expeditions doing any form of research?
Or are they moreso a passenger service for people to become the “Xth Y to do Z” simply by riding along?
Just Discovering new species is a research, same as mapping the ocean floor
Victor is a hero
Whats the psi at that depth and what kind of life is down there?😮
what sort of new life have you discovered at the bottom of the ocean?
Congratulations to you all !!!
The rocks at the bottom almost looked like man made concrete.. though .natural Im sure.
I wonder if we ever get water drones, send them out like hundeds of them to explore the ocean connected to sattelite and pick up by flying drones etc. now that would be cool imagine all the possible finds :D
I’d love to know the financial running tally from the start of designing building support vessel build and crew cost.
I read somewhere it cost $50 million to build it four years ago
After recent events it’s a stark contrast between professionalism of the two projects
I still don't understand why there isn't a tether for extra safety. Only reason I could find so far is the risk of entanglement in a ship wreck, but what about all other non-wreck dives, just going up and down?
The research and safety precautions. These guys take with this submersible is exactly how the Titan crew should have been operating. Also this submersible was going even deeper then the Titanic. Stockton Rush Should have watched this documentary and took notes.
Victor is Legend 🙏🙏🙏
Cool video but who uploaded it with black bars?
whats the cost for the expedition?
Due to recent unfortunate event with the oceangate which has nothing to do with this, i know that, but still, i would really like to know how many cycles dos this magnificent sub can handle, anyone knows?
It’s a 2 piece solid titanium hull. It can withstand hundreds of cycles if not thousands. No one really knows the number because it’s never been reached before but titanium is the best material we know of to use
@jamesepperson5940 Yes, i saw the video of it's construction, but no one provided the info about the cycles. That is a very important info!
Regarding the life capsule that depends how close to the elastic limit the titanium is stressed, which in turn depends on the thickness. My guess is it has been designed to be nowhere near the elastic limit and well within the linear range for the material, in which case it should be 10's to 100's of thousands of cycles! i.e. Everything else will likely fail before the capsule. In the case of carbon fibre composite like used in ocean gate I would not know the fatigue cycles limit but it is very easy to introduce tiny imperfections during fabrication that vastly reduce its strength &/or fatigue resistance also CF shatters or breaks instantaneously at its limit (even though its very strong up to that point). I suspect ocean gate titan was already operating very close to its limit at 4000m deep, it probably should never have been allowed to dive less that 1000m. Whereas this DSV capsule could probably safely go to at least 20,000m without imploding looking at how well it has been engineered and the safety margins in its design.
@@robertcarter560 well said man. I think even a couple inch thick titanium hull can withstand the pressure at the titanic no problem. Everything is built with a margin of safety so if they plan on using it at 13,000 it will be built to safely go to 20,000 for an extended period of time. They use a formula and they don’t take chances
@robertcarter560 Do you know how do they jointed/welded the two parts of the sphere? I could not see that.
Forgot to charge the battery and no harm done because the laws of robotics took over, ok that is the definition of cool.
Victor, please get Steve Jurvetson down there! He is a legend!
Whats he known for? Why would he be good to go down in the sub? Honest questions =) I only just recently sorta kinda found out he existed when one of the electronics channels I watch borrowed a beautiful piece of electronics hardware from him, it was a piece off the Apollo service module that they're taking apart and trying to understand and maybe even get working! SO cool! So anyway, all I know about him is that he has a really cool collection of old space hardware haha
Does submarine have a dive cycle? Would it be venerable after too many dives?
Yea everything has a dive cycle but its solid titanium so it’s not known how many cycles it can go through. It’s in the hundreds if not thousands but they check it all the time
@@jamesepperson5940yep
Eventually every part will be replaced if they plan to use it for years to come
This is how you build a certified DSV. I know it was very expensive but that expense is necessary if you want to dive to these depths AND come back again. It is so far ahead of Stockton Rush's OceanGate, that botch up is not even in sight.
