  • Always mount a tv at your own risk. If you feel uncomfortable, hire a professional. This video is how I installed this tv mounting bracket with over 10,000 installations in the books. But if you are somewhat handy, and have the tools listed here, you shouldn’t be overwhelmed with the project.
The Sanus SLF226-B1 Full Motion TV Wall mount is another great mount by Sanus.

Mounting a TV on an articulating mount comes down to a few basic steps and sound understanding of the wall you are mounting on. Sanus has always been at the forefront of the TV mounting game and they have had their shortcomings on certain mounts.
While this mount is solid and I highly recommend it….. it still can freak people out a little when they get to a couple of points in the install.
    1. The brackets on the TV connect to the holes on back of the TV. The plate that attaches to that is held by four little itty bitty screws. Sanus has to have someone that engineered this mount, smarter than me, so let’s assume they know these will never fail.
    2. Then once you get this beast of a mount up, they have you balancing your brand new TV on a little 1.5 inch wide attachment point on the end of the arm.
    3. The safety screw that holds it all together is, again, tiny and may concern the installer.
In all 3 instances, I’ve found this mount to perform very well even with heavy tvs. I’ve installed up to 82” Samsung on this mount and there has never been any issue with its performance.

I bought this mount from Costco yesterday. I like the way you explained the way the TV attaches to the pull out arms. The instructions that come with the mount do not explain this very well. It is amazing how you must tighten down (4) 3 1/2 inch lag bolts into studs, but the whole mechanism depends on that little 3/8 inch locking screw. Thank you for not glossing past these little details that mean so much. Nice work Sir.

it's a piece of shit, it was discontinued and the new one is useless too
I got this at Costco, about a week later it was discontinued and replaced with a new model
the one I got had a broken wall plate right out of the box ,the vertical bars on the wall plate are made of all plastic and it's very flimsy cheap and thin , Sanus sent me another wall plate but then when I went to the store I noticed
that this mount was no longer being sold and that they had a new model in its place with almost the same exact number, the Costco item number was the same I think but the Sanus model number was different
the new one says extends 28 inches from the wall as opposed to the old one saying only 26, the new mount plate has metal vertical bars on the wall plate not plastic and it's much sturdier, the new one glides much better and the new one has 2 scissors as opposed the 3 arm design and they are very deep pocketed for cable management ,much deeper pockets than the expensive model at best buy has
however the pipe parts are too narrow to fit the plug from my LG C1 55" through , I will have to unscrew the the plate on the back of the TV where the plug goes in and unplug the internal power cord connector and route that end through because the outlet plug won't fit through , both the old and new model suck and are not even useable to me at all though because of the piss poor design of the wall plates , they really fucked up bad here
all holes miss the mark , the farthest away holes still do not reach the studs and just miss them by a cunt hair on each side , seriously WTF! would it have fucking killed them to make this piece of shit an inch and a half longer and put holes with a little more room , I don't know what the hell these people are thinking but my only options now are to remove the end caps which double as hinges to hold the rail covers and drill 4 holes on the ends so the lag bolts can fit through, my C1 OLED weight is 42lbs w/o stand I think , not sure if this will be safe ,I could also drill out the center marker hole on the top and put a 5th lag bolt in the middle there because it should line up with my center stud if I drill holes on the very ends of the wall plate, but for $150 I should not have to be doing this shit, FFS, GET IT TO-FUCKING -GETHER SANUS !

  • @robertplas3947

Excellent video. The only thing I had to do was to modify where the bottom edge of the TV would reach. This was because I was mounting over a fireplace and also wanted the bottom edge of the TV to clear the fireplace mantle when pushed back against the wall and also wanted the TV to extend out away from the wall and tilt downwards. So I used your measurement guide in the video and added 6" to the height of the mount location to compensate for the 6" from the mounting bracket on back of Tv to the bottom edge. This worked out perfectly. Another comment, I have in the past broken a bolt head putting it into the 2 x 4. This is due to the pilot hole being drilled not as deep as the length of the bolt so the last 1/2 to 1" as to drive into solid wood. It's best to drill a nice long pilot hole. To remove a lag bolt into wood that has a broken head, I found the only solution is to use a small drill bit and drill along the lag bolt into the wood at like the 12/3/6/9 positions around the bolt and then you should be able to apply enough grip and torque to remove it. Then fill the hole in the 2 x 4 with wood filler.

I just put one of these up for a client yesterday. You're right, those four allen head screws that hold the arm are a bear. Found on the one that I was doing that the top two holes had a bit of paint overspray in them. After a few frustrating attempts I took down the arm and threaded the screws through (in just the arm) to break away the paint residue. A little WD40 would have helped as well. I'd recommend this step for all four to make sure they aren't going to give you any resistance when you go to install the arm on the mount.
There is very little room to line up the screw and I'd also recommend what you did, is get on a step ladder so you can see down from the top which enables you to line up the slot in the mount with the screw hole. Trying to to just do these by feel is a nightmare. Also with a higher up view you can see the alignment for the bottom screws as well and adjust the arm mount accordingly. Then it was a breeze!

      @andreamitchell4758 Před rokem

@@BTheInstaller the mount sucks, they fucked up on the hole spacing big time
I can not use this mount because it is off by just one inch on each side for max hole space if only they had a brain and made holes 1" father apart on each side it could have been used
the new model at Costco is a bit different but still has the same useless hole spacing on the wall plate which at least is all metal this time and doesn't have the cheap plastic vertical rails I am sure you have seen it , it has hinged rail covers ,it comes out 28 inches not 26, has 2 scissors not the tri fold arms .
if I unscrew the rail end caps that double as hinges for the rail covers the holes in the metal tabs/rail ends where the end caps screw into will fit over the holes in my wall from my old stationary mount but those holes are too small for the lag bolts to fit through unless I drill them out , do you think it would be safe to drill out those holes so the lags bolts will fit through and use those and also drill out the up orientation hole wider to fit a lag bolt it would work, I think I can hit the center stud with that center "up" hole ,so 5 lags bolts one on each of the 4 corners extended beyond the provided oval holes and one in the middle on the top rail
      the TV is 42 or 43 Lbs ,a C1 OLED 55"
or do you have any other ideas on how to get this to work where the holes are just one each short of the studs on each side , besides opening up the wall and bolting 2x4 blocks to the studs?
This thing really just sucks I can't believe Sanus was too stupid to just provide a longer wall mount in the first place, especially since they just totally redesigned the thing , how could they miss this glaring oversight or do they just want us to buy the $350 model from BB if that one can even be mounted at all either I don't know, but it looks like the plate on that one is 33" and this one is only 28" going by overall width description specs which doesn't specify the max distance for wall mount holes that I can see, I imagine the expensive one has wider maximum hole spacing on the wall plate , do you know if the arm on this new model is compatible with any other wider Sanus wall plates? maybe I could get them to send me another wall plate that is 2" longer that this war can work with , but this is just a horrible design missing the mark by just 1" on each side

So I pulled it down, and did them in and out, of all 4, before I putt it on the wall. It would have been a bear otherwise. They didn't have the holes tapped out well enough. They didn't strip(although it seemed they would when it was so hard to start them)and it worked good.

I've only installed one wall mount. It was back in 2012. I pretty much followed the instructions from sanus. I actually removed the paneling from the wall, since I live in a older house. I wanted to see exactly how many and where the studs were positioned. I wound up reinforcing the studs, as I didn't want any weak links. I also made sure my lags were going in the studs dead center. Fast forward 11 years, and now I have a new
Samsung s95b 65 inch. I'm pretty sure that the old mount isn't going to work. I'll probably be sticking with the sanus brand. I know I'll be needing some help as the TV is already mounted on the stand. Nice to see you point out the leveling screw issue. Almost seems like an afterthought at sanus. I like the sanus vlf 628 full motion.

My only hiccup was having to use the largest spacers because of electrical on the wall. The lag bolts went all the way in but didn't grab. Thank you for the informative video. Would you kindly advise the difference between the Sanus SLF226-B1 and the Sanus BLF328-B1. The price is more than double but it seems like both mounts are acceptable for a 75" TV. And your video certainly demonstrates the SLF model works fine for a 75" TV.

Hi there thanks for sharing great tutorial. I have a quick question re you able to mount the TV without the extendable arm?
I just want the TV to stay flat on the wall. Thanks in advance for your response.

Great video! Question for you. I believe my wall space (5” wide with windows on either side) only has two vertical studs about 3” apart. Is it safe to drill additional holes into the wall plate (essentially dead center) so that I can hit both of these studs?

I am planning on putting an 85" on this mount. My question is, will this support the weight if it is fully extended full time (assuming weight of tv is approx 50 lbs.)?? I have a recessed wall niche that the tv will not fit into, so I plan on putting the wall mount inside the niche and extend the tv out about 26".

Thank-you for this video! It is extremely helpful. I do have a question. I am attempting to screw in the top and bottom mounting plates to a SONY 75X950H and when I use the M6 X 20, the horizontal plate has a bit of play (not snug) and when I use the M6 X 12 the horizontal plate is snug. Is it okay to use use M6 X 12 even though it's almost half the size? I don't want it to not be sturdy enough. SANUS provides a 5MM spacer. Is it supposed to be used with the M6 X 20?
    Thank you in advance!

Hey B, I'm about to try installing my old full motion mount again in my new basement. After tryin to locate studs I've found something super odd. Studs were all 26 3/4" apart, instead of the regular 16 or 24.
The mount i have is super similar to the one in this video. Would I be able to mount if only one side of the mount bracket is drilled into stud and the other on drywall?
For reference I'm mounting a 55" Sony XBR-55X700D and the mount I have is AVF superslim CNL655-F (I believe it was best buys competitor to Sanus around 10 years ago when I got the mount)

I can catch 2 studs with this mount but the tv portion of this mount will be slid all the way to one side of the mount. Is this a problem?

Hi B, I just purchased myself a LG Nano 90 65” I will be mounting it onto a insulated drywall with a brick wall behind it. Which mount should I got for the Sanus VLF 728 or the SLF 226? I just dont want the arms to start sagging over a while and for the adjustment tension knob to be strong as I heard alot of TV brackets have an issue with their tension knob where the TV starts to face downwards. You’re expert opinion would be greatly appreciated thanks!

Do you recommend this mount? Or would you recommend another one? Also, is it very flat? Meaning does the tv stick out more than other mounts? I do like the tipping up and down feature.

If this is your jobz would it be easier to get an angled adapter for your drill so you can still use the hex screw with the drill. Milwaukee has and so do other brands
