@@insertname717 i would start with smt4, nocturne, devil survivor overclocked, or digital devil saga bc theyre the most beginner friendliest games in the series, but most of the first person camera games like strange journey can be very frustrating so i wouldnt play those first imo, nocturne's difficulty isnt as challenging as people say but just pay attention throughout the game and you should be fine, smt4 is the easiest in the series for many and has some of the best ost in the franchise imo, anyways just play what seems interesting or fun to you

For all of Persona 5's flaws, the fact that it predicted the result of a concept like the Phantom Thieves on dumb teenagers unwilling to make a personal stand for anything, and put it in-universe is pretty brilliant and absurdly ironic. The people in these comments think they'd be Phantom Thieves and Confidants, but they're just the people on Mishima's message board telling them to fix everything and refusing to help themselves.
It’s especially hilarious since the Game Center’s around this idea of the general public acting like… well, like the persona 5 tweets lol. I’d say it’s almost like they didn’t play the game, but that might be too on the nose…

One of the people in this video say they were pissed off because Persona is being put on PC, like bruh not everything revolves around you and your console, actually there are more people with a PC than with a Switch. I think the entire concept of console exclusives is stupid and everything should be in every platform if possible, but begging a company to put a specific game in a specific console isn't the solution.

Ever since Persona 5 got released, you can see through ATLUS's marketing and box art cover that they wanted Persona 5 to stray away from the SMT games.
Previous Persona titles had SMT in them, and now P5 has no SMT advertising.
It's definitely not, as a whole Persona has had more mainstream success than SMT has, which is why you have all these people who don't know about it in thw first place. While PMD is just one of many spinoffs of pokemon franchise, persona has caught up to and arguably even passed SMT in terms of popularity

I'm somewhat new to the Fandom, having been introduced to P5 and watching about half a playthrough before I decided that I wanted to play it for myself. I had the "P5 is the best and the others are trash" mentality for a short time. I've heard about P3 and P4. I was a little iffy on the graphics but people said that the stories were good so I gave them a shot. Boy am I glad that I experienced them. They are almost timeless, well until the graphics become outdated, at least, though I think that gives them part of they're charm.
P4G is out on pc + vita. P3P is on vita and P3FES is on ps3 currently. If you can't buy them then, if you really can't afford it them, emulate it. Both are wonderful games that leave a lasting impact. It's okay to still like P5 and make it your favourite, just at least try to give them chance. I don't think you'll regret it.
Also P5's music would be even more fire if Lotus Juice sang a song or two. My own personal opinion but I just wanted to say it

That's kinda correct, SMT and Persona are both part of the Megami Tensei (MegaTen) franchise. The first "persona" game is actually "Shin Megami Tensei: If..." which eventually led to the creation of the first Persona game and then so on and so forth.
Because of this since the series started closer to SMT, it's more considered the parent series rather than the sister series, almost every aspect of the Persona games (excluding social links and slice of life aspects) came from SMT. SMT also deals with different theming, much more philosophical and sometimes metaphysical. The last time we saw anything like this in the Persona series was in the Persona 2 duology.
An important distinction to make however is that as I said earlier, they are both part of the MegaTen franchise. Marketing in the West kinda just slapped "Shin Megami Tensei" next to the title of every MegaTen game, BUT that is technically inaccurate. The Devil Survivor and Digital Devil Saga series (both of which I highly recommend) should be classified as "MegaTen" and not "SMT games" since they are part of the franchise, not part of SMT.
Sorry for writing an essay but so many people will just go "SMT good, Persona bad" but then give you so much misinformation on the true history of the series, so I wanted to try and give you as much info as possible

As someone who got into the Persona series in 2017 through P5 this was physically and mentally painful to watch.
Persona 5 was my first Persona game as well, but even I'm not braindead enough to not know what SMT is. Also, playing Persona 4 Golden for the first time on Steam and I'm excited to experience what I've missed out in this game.

Honestly, I am kinda critical of the random level generation in Persona 3 and 4. Going back from 5 to 4 is painful, cause you don't get the same sense of exploration in 4. It's all just identical rooms and corridors. And it's weird, cause I feel like they handled it better in Persona 2 (haven't finished any games yet other than 5, I've kinda just been all over the place in my playthroughs).
The combat and social links are still fun tho, so I'm enjoying myself anyway on my p4g playthrough.

Getting new fans is good. Having people enjoy a game that I enjoy is good. Having people invested to a point where they give their opinions and hopes on the direction of the series is good. But having these people declare themselves gatekeepers/vanguard fans and try to dictate, demand, and declare what is or is not important regarding said series is... Bad. It feels bad. I don't even care if you don't like base SMT like I do or even if you've only played P5 just... Why do people believe liking the new thing means the old things have no value? And how can they miss the point of the game they love so hard? I'm so tired. I just want SMTV to exist. Every night I stroke my framed picture of Raidou Kuzunoha and weep sweet, sweet tears.

Persona fan here, I've started with 5 but I honestly think the base game was really overrated, especially with how the last act went, Royal definitely improved it and addressed my gripes quite well but in the time between 5 and 5R dropping I've played through Persona 3 and I'm now playing through P4G on PC, its definitely not the series' magnum opus
Ive ever even played an SMT game but I've read quite a bit into it and know that one of its main inspirations was one of my all time favorite Mangas/Animes (Devilman/Devilwoman/Devilman Crybaby) so I plan on getting an emulator and playing the older ones.

I remember taking a picture of P4G downloading on my pc, and a Persona 5 stan asking why I didn't just play P5R. I said I don't have a PS4 and I didn't have room for it in my room (I have an Xbox and switch that barely fit already) and I just didn't have the money to spare for the console just to buy one game. They proceeded to spoil the entire true ending of P4G for me. Thankfully I can enjoy the social links still, I guess? Doesn't really feel the same knowing the ending, but Nanako never fails to make me smile when I spend time with her and Marie is the same, but in a more friendly way (I'm on rank two for Marie and 3 for Nanako)
