- Riding bikes is always a good time but having to store them just stinks. They take up a lot of space, are shaped awkwardly, and are too expensive to let get damaged. Tune in as I cover the 5 best ways that I've found to store my bikes.

Nice video on how to " stache " bikes. Hee hee
You slid that one in right underneath my nose.... 😂😂😂
@@DailyMTBRider across the mustache 😁🤙
Keep the stache, stay away from schools.
Those two things go hand in hand 😂
Makes him look like a recheck from the movie super troopers
The second stand option is great. I like that stand, I might invest in that. As of now I remove the front tyre and keep it near in my room, it can stand upright on its own nicely.
I put my bikes up in the air and hang the bike by the seat on a Rafter.
I learnt it from my local bike shop we're above the service area they keep all their bikes hanging by their seats. A is some suspended metal poles (horizontal of course).
Good content thanks mate
Your bike hanger with the above shelf is the best. I have bikes for my grand kids when they come over for a visit and I am desperate for a way to store them and still be able to access them quickly and easily. The shelf is like icing on the cake for extra storage for misc. items.
What's the make or model of it? I cant seem to find it. Thanks.
Keep it! I use the third option for all my bike because my workshop is kind of small so it works for me!
Your moustache looks like you combined your eyebrows and put them under your nose.. And awesome video as always Josh 👍🏻
That's what I tell everyone! It's like the two caterpillars over my eyes made a big baby!
I can't unsee this now, lmao!
i dont like it

Purchased one of the pully versions but the hooks supplied were far too flimsy so I was concerned the seat might slip off & bike fall onto the car. So I modified mine by purchasing & using two inexpensive nylon dog collars. One fits over the seat & the other has a chain & snaphook to fit under/around the headstock. This can also then be used for bike maintenance by raising or lowering the bike to different heights. Works well. I also have a hook on the wall to store the spare pull rope stache.
damn I had never thought about that one with the storage rack on top. Extra storage space is always a plus. Well guess i got a new project this weekend. Thank You for this !!!
I hope you're still rockin that stache this November. Thanks for the quick tips.
I've got a hook on the wall when I wont be able to ride much, but use the maintenance stand when I'm riding more regularly. Sweet baby jesus that stache is epic!
I like and recommend the feedback scorpion stand it's great for display / storage / basic repairs and adjustments.
I just have the hooks like the one in step 3 on my sealing, one for each wheel. Works good enough for a garage with limited space. Also have a stand that holds the bike by the top tube, but don’t like it that much
i use the 3rd method for my bike storage, except for i have it at the height where my back wheel is resting on the ground. Really great way of moving bikes out of the way and looks sick with multiple bikes. However, each time i ride my bike after storing it, there is a lot of top out in the front fork and i have to compress the fork about 10 times to get rid of it. Not sure if it’s the oil all in the top of the fork because of the angle the bike is sitting, but i’m not a mechanic so i don’t know for sure
For any compact storage I need to recommend that you get that foam insulation tubes/pool noodle things and cut, fold, tape or whatever in a way that you can slide them onto your pedals to stop them scratching other bikes. I've scratched the entire pedal area on my bikes quite a bit from the bikes next to it for not covering up the pedals and I still have yet to do it. I'm getting a new frame this weekend so I'll be sure to do it then.
Pool noodles don't withstand the elements very long. (My automobile-bike rack from the year 2000 is a good example, the external "skin" wears down and then the plastic interior starts coming apart). But, pool noodles do work temporarily, like a few years. ...if you are doing storage you anticipate more than maybe two years(but it will end up being 5+), Especially outdoors, You will need RV weatherstripping(with the moldable plastic that has metal threads inside, or ya kno, cardboard, for the gears) or other insulation...
fun fact: you don't have to lift your bike to put it on the hook. If you put the hook at the just right height, the back wheel stays on the ground and top doesn't go squirrely.
I'm storing my bike in that mustache, I know no one will touch it that way...
I used to build the second option with scrap pieces of wood when I was around 14. It’s a good way to store your bike but takes up too much floor space.
Josh - you've completely missed the best system out there, the Saris Cycle Glide. Not a surprise; I just stumbled on it a few years ago, but man, is it perfect! I'm in Bellingham (Geneva area) and would be happy to let you come see how it works. 6 bikes (at the moment), completely up and out of the way. They collapse into a nice smaller area, but each bike is very easily accessible whenever I want to get one of them.
Got the second option and it works great! Thank you!
You look like the Lorax with the moustache😂
I store my two road bikes and my hybrid upside down/ ceiling hangers. Seems to work, no wheel issues or worrying about the kids nocking them over, my wife requested not bc it was difficult to get down if I wasn't there. Works out great for me, only two other bikes in the garage, 3 car G. so plenty of space
Went with the ceiling hoist recently. Spacing is tight, and wall-mounted just stuck out too far.
Really nice video Josh!!! And damn that mustache is nice! Keep doing what you!
I want to express my support for your mustache it looks good.
I’ve been using the j hook but I didn’t put it as high, the rear wheel is still touching. Now I just got told that hanging it up vertical is bad for hydraulic brakes. Have you noticed any brake issues?
Hi, do you remember what the product is called that has the white rack and top storage? Thanks for the video!
I dont see that white metal shelf on your Amazon page, I'm sorry. Anyone have a resource or link to his #4 vertical hanging with shelf option? Thanks.
My favorite is the Velo Hinge I have 6 of them mounted on one wall of my garage.
thanks for that tip! Velo Hinge looks the best!
The real question is.....does the Mrs. like 'the stache' ?
Awesome vid as always, looking 4ward to your next one
I have a garage storage rack but a larger version like the one you have a little after 3 minutes. Can I purchase the hooks separately from somewhere?
Great video- looks like a lot of people are requesting a link for the products. Do you have that anywhere?
Good content and great review! Keep up the good work!
Can anyone help with which shelf unit is used in the video? I don’t see it in the Amazon list provided. Thanks!
Might have to get the 2nd one for washing, my seth's bike hacks stands covers too much of the wheel so it's a pain to get all the mud off.
However none of those stands are secure.
We seem to have a really big issue with bike theft in the UK right now esp from shops with about 1 a week being broken into and cleared! Orange last week.
I see chains and floor bolts and stuff but I had an idea, I want to store my bike nose up to also keep the fork sponges lubed.
It's a bit more of a faff than just hook up but what i'm thinking is a block you bolt to your wall with a 15mm hole through the center thats the same width as the front hub.
Remove your front wheel and offer the bike up then push though a strengthened rod with a mushroom at one end and lock hole at the other.
Put on a lock of your choice and shes secure to the wall.
They could remove the topcap and stem and remove the rest but it's better than nothing and also stores the bike in place.
Closer to the wall too as there's no front wheel.
no need to lift as you'd mount it with the rear wheel on the floor.
a really secure manufactured version of this could probably have a key slot at one end that has tumblers to lock in the block it's self, no external lock.
Btw there are dedicated wall hooks for bikes (approx $20) that work great 👍🏻
The wrench at the bike shop we go to recommended not storing suspension bikes on the wall or upside down as it could create an issue with the shock seals due to the fluid resting on the seals, have you heard this? He recommended storing suspension bikes on the floor or hang by the seat and handlebars so the bike remains upright.
Hydraulic brakes don’t like upside down either
@@maxmartz4665 Oh! I didn’t even think of the brakes!
well i need this asap. i got 5 now planning on getting a 6th
I am store my bike in outside storge area, and when i checked the oil and lube oil it will come bad condition, what your opnian me?
What's the max weight can those ceiling pulley bike thingies carry? Are the ropes sturdy enough for long time use?
My option is a 3M long rectangular tube that is slung at either end from my garage roof joist (or ceiling) and the bike seat hooks over the rectangular tube. The bikes just hang. I have 4 road and 2 MTBs hanging. I have all the usual storage boxes on castors and the lawn mower on the floor. Access is easy just hold the bike by the fork and Seat Tube, lift and unhook and visa versa.
1. Holy Lip Sweater
2. I use the ceiling mount pulley system for my daily rider... i love it and its simple to use
Hey sup bud, does it affect the hydraulic brakes? Tue vertical position of the bike? TIA
“Relower it up.” LOL!😂😂😂
And here I was trying to figure out how to fit both a work stand and a bike storage solution in my storage room.. didnt think of using the work stand and probably would have ended up buying both a storage solution and a work stand
Where did you get that setup on Amazon for storage? Can't find the information
I have a downhill bike and I wonder if something wrong happens to my front suspension (Manitou Dorado) and hydraulic disc brakes (magura mt 5) when I hang them on the wall.
Can you do a video on kids bikes? My son is 6 and 49inches tall. He’s currently on a trek precaliber but he needs disc brakes. I’m between the Riprock 20 or Roscoe 20. I’m wondering if a 6yr old would even be heavy enough to use the front suspension on the riprock or if the trek’s rigid fork would be best for his age and the overall weight of the bike!?? Really like your thoughts. Awesome video as always man!!!
Defidnely go for a ridgit fork!
I can't find the option he showed with the shelf above the bike storage on Amazon, Anyone got a link?
2:04 what’s this bike stand called and link the how can I get it on my phone ?
Do you have an updated link to the shelf w/ bike hooks?! I don’t see it on your shop link.
4:25 "re-lower it up". 😂 That’s a good way to put it.
Excellent vid as always! And hey, thanks for the Nishiki review because now I have a really fun bike I'm.not afraid to smash lol
Thanks Dave! And I'm stoked to point you in the right direction!
I had to have the creepy van talk and hide my daughter when I saw that stache...
😂Someone had to encourage you to start talking to the kids about creepers
Uncle Rico is that you?
😮😮😮
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
AJ 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hey man, could you please link on AMAZON the item that you have shown at 3:39? I don't know how to find something similar on the internet...
I've been finding it a bit of a challenge to find bicycle storage ideas for enclosed trailers on the move.
Keep it and go handlebar! I've been growing mine since June.
I wish I could find that storage shelf for the bikes but I cannot find it anywhere.
Any help on where you got it?
Definitely keep the stache. Rock it josh!
Great ideas. But some people don't have a garage or a storage shed, like me. I have no room in the house. So I have to keep my bikes outside. I got them hanging off a branch with a hook. But they are exposed to the weather. And getting rusted. A blue tarp may work but it would be an eye soar . Any suggestion?
You showed hooks with the bike wheel as the point of attachment. Is this OK? Do it cause issues?
Hey bro! Looking at that rack system you got on Amazon but I can't seem to find it anywhere (including your site) ... could you hook a brother up?
Did he ever give you a link?
This MIGHT be it?? www.amazon.com/FLEXIMOUNTS-24-inch-48-inch-Storage-Floating/dp/B07MX5DYPS/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=fleximount&qid=1600562563&sr=8-5
Where can I find the hooks you used to hang the bikes from the shelf?
Will the vertical method, I mean the hook may hurt the inner rim of the wheel?
Good vid. But doesn’t the vertical storage not do any hydraulics (brakes, seat post) any good, lets air in etc. I’ve had contrasting opinions on this!
On the hooks, you can alternate directions to pack more bikes into a smaller space
what about ways to lock your bike in your garage? My bikes were stolen because I forgot to close the door. Neighbors have had their garages forcibly entered also. Any ideas for way to store and lock?
love the Dyson!
Hey do you have a link to the one you said was your favorite?
My favourite part was when you said you can lower the bike and the re-lower it up. 👌
The mustache is making a comeback. Keep it!!
Is it good to hang the bike on the front wheel? Because now all that weight is held up by the spokes of the front wheel.
Can I store my mountain bike upside down? Will it bother the shocks or brakes?
“Who wants a mustache ride?” -Super Troopers.
I use to of the hooks to the ceiling joists so the bike hangs upside down now. But I am going install a pulley on the ceiling away from the bike perpendicular to the two hooks on the wheels so then the rope connects to the frame then I will pull the bike so it will lay flatter to the ceiling.
Where is that bike rack you got from Amazon sir
The shelf isn’t linked. I like that idea. I can’t find it. Can you reply with the link? Thank you
Lol. Damn Josh, you been puffin that happy smoke? You looked baked!! Don't take that as a rude comment in any way please. Weed is legal where I live (Alaska) and I fully support it. Unfortunately my work does random hair follicle testing 👎 More power to you though my man.
Another great video, stonned or not 😁😉
I shave November is over. Was that bike stand clamped on a dropper.
I have 5 kids, so we have 7 bikes in the garage. I have a really hard time figuring out a good bike storage solution to get them off the floor and out of the way. As you can imagine, they take up a lot of valuable floor space. They're all under 10 y/o, so It has to be something they can do on their own without needing help from an adult, both taking off and putting back. The only viable solution I can think of is one of those bike racks outside of stores and public buildings, but that still requires dedicated floor space.
I like the Feedback Sports Scorpion. Able to work on your drivetrain and highly portable. Shave the stash or make it into some mutton chops aka Lemmy
I wonder if you could lean your bike on the wall from the front tire with the bike hand too? That could make it use less space too if it would remain stable.
Very nice...I have a question tho...what is the purple bike..looks gnarly 😍
I like and use the Venzo wall mount system
Any tips for apartment bike storage?
So what gear should the bike be in?
great video! love the mustache too!
Love the starch! 😍
Ugh the stach with the eye thingies at the end of the video was too much! My innocence has been stolen!
Hi Daily Mtb Rider - Your Video Five Bike Storage Solutions That Don't Stink, Thank You For The Idea, For Inspiring Me...
Hello there! The rack you indicate is your favorite is not listed on your Amazon page. Would you please share a link to it?
I've been looking through the comments hoping that he shared it here somewhere. It stinks that it isn't in his amazon store
I've been told that vertical hanging of bikes with disc brakes can drain the brake fluid. Is that bs?
Skills with Phil mustache
Is the Stache a hint at a new bike coming soon?
Can't find any of the products you described from your hyperlink :(
Where can I purchase that rack bike hook?
I have the ceiling pulley and love it. I also have the red rubberized hook. Does anyone think the hook would bend the rim over time since all the weight is on that 1/4” hook on one part of the rim.
Man I’ve been searching all over the place looking for an answer… you ever find out?? Im currently testing it on an old bike
Where did you post links for these products? I couldn't find the product name or brand for the pulley bike system or the previous one with storage shelf with 3 bike hooks underneath.
Yes, I can’t see the link for these products either. I’m interested in the black floor stand
Any advice on bike outdoor cover please
I don't mind the moustache. You be you bro shave it if you want or keep it! Thanks for amazing content!
