ULTIMATE BIKE RACK SYSTEM. MORE BIKES. LESS SPACE

- The Ultimate Bike Rack System takes the best of the simple garage hook and makes bike storage better by putting those hooks on sliders. Which means more bikes in less space.
It also means this storage system makes it easy to pull out the bike I want because I can slide the others to the side.
Easy to store MORE of your bikes. Easy to access ALL of your bikes.
The materials to make the Ultimate Bike Rack System run about $238 , so it's definitely not the cheapest DIY rack system but for storing 8 bikes it's whole lot less than SteadyRack (A great system) which would run $650 to store 8 bikes and probably take up more room. The Ultimate Bike Rack System is sure to impress your friends. Especially if they're fun-hogging, dirt-bags like all my besties.

5/16 nuts and washers. You'll need two nuts for each hook.
NOTE!: 83” from floor to the ceiling or underside of the shelf works for DH bikes and smaller. Don't skimp on some quality lag bolts to mount the rail to your ceiling joists.
Tools you'll need for this project:
Drill
1/4" Drill bit
Standard socket set
5/16 wrench or pliers
Screwdriver
I love this. Ugh, i just dropped $400 on steady racks the other day. I'd love this option as it seems more flexible but in my garage, it's such a high ceiling I'd have to figure out a way to bring an overhanging shelf out with enough support to hold the bikes. Hmm...got me thinking though... What were those peg boards? Where were they from? I need me some of them to hang helmets!
I dropped a shelf from the ceiling too. Works great for gear bags. I have a metal storage box shelf i got at Home Depot in the garage It’s rated for 600lbs. The rail could tie into that shelf too. 300lbs of bike and 300lbs of gear.
@@JoyOfBike how high is your ceiling? Mine is literally like over 15ft high lol
@@gregoryjhickmanIt's 8 foot. Man I'd do a ladder and loft space above the bikes perhaps. The pegboards are on Etsy and the hooks are my design and you can download the and 3d print them from my thingaverse page.
I got the pegboard off Etsy. I designed a jumbo pegboard hook in CAD and printed them out. If you search my name of jumbo pegboard hook on Thingaverse you will find them.
@@JoyOfBike I have the same scenario as you and need to drop a shelf as you did. Can you share the details of how your shelf is constructed in order to support the weight of the bikes?
This is why CZcams is so good. A cool guy with a good idea takes the time to craft a clear video describing what they did and sharing it with others. 🤘 Thanks man
Appreciate you.
this is how a nice society would progress
not filled with greed, but sharing your knowledge
And to think it took him
less than 5 minutes
Exactly this 👍
BRILLIANT ! I love when someone takes a product designed for one use and makes it better for another purpose and THEN is kind enough to share. Well done. P.S. Why did CZcams take 2 years to suggest this video to me 😂
my mans got a legit bike wardrobe! great idea mate.
This is great! I'm on about version 4 of my bike rack dance. Finally something cost effective and worthwhile. Thank you!
Genius idea. I’ve been trying to figure out what to do for my garage. This is perfect!
Thanks for the free tip. That was gold. I wanna say I really enjoy your channel. It is a pleasure to see another guy my age living without regard to the stereotype of being in their 40s/50s. Why live like you are in your 40s/50s when you feel 25 and have the heart and passion to go with it. Keep it up forever. You are an inspiration. Definitely got a sub from me
I've watched over 10 bike rack set-ups and this by far is the best in my opinion. 👍
Finally getting around to dedicating some basement space to a bike shop. I was satisfied with just some large hooks from the beams, but this is exactly what I hadn't even thought about. I wish everyone would document their video as clean as this in their footer section!!!
Great, you‘ve showed me the solution for a years old problem in my garage! Thanks a lot!!!
Thank you! This video inspired me to make similar storage in my garage. I used old bed rails and roller skate trucks/wheels for the trolleys. It was a game-changer for my limited space. Thank you for the great idea!
Thank you for taking the time to share this.... really well done, both the bike rack and the video production!
Thanks. Excited to see what people make!
This is totally SWEET! Alex, I enjoy your videos so much I bought a shirt! Keep it up man!
First, thank you for sharing this rack, and for the generosity to do so for free. I now have a version of this rack in a previously unused portion of my garage and it looks great. I showed your video to a friend that will be installing one in another garage, so your kindness continues to circle the country/globe. Keep up the good content and thank you again for the brilliant solution to bike storage (my wife probably thanks you too, for getting my bikes out of the house).
This is an awesome solution. Well done. I think I'll investigate if it's practical for the garage. Your next video should definitely be on how you built and secured the storage shelf that you attached the box rail to.
Brilliant idea, clearly and concisely explained. Thanks!
I saw a commerical version of this and thought "I can just build that with barn hardware" Excellent video, thanks for spreading the info!
Thanks for this video. I built this last spring and it’s fantastic. 6 bikes in about 7’ of space and SO much cheaper. I did get the threaded hooks from Park Tools. Love it. So easy to get to any bike.
This is fantastic!! Thank you for sharing all the details. I will do this in my garage.
You are a genius!!! Your setup is just beautiful.
I have been researching for ideas and yours is the best by far, thank you for sharing. I have some work to do in the garage now.
Hahaha. Hardly but glad you like it!!
oh man, the more I see your vids, the more impressed I am with your skills and imagination. One of the very best things I like/love about your vids are that you don't inject non sense into your vids to make it longer. They are all to the point and direct. Thanks for the great ideas and keep up the great work. Keep safe.
I just try to make what I would want to see. Sometimes maybe a little nonsense. : ) Welcome to the crew my friend.
I agree! I'm pretty new to this channel and this video is just as cool as the actual biking videos. I'm definitely going to look into this track system for my hooks already in the garage as it's perfect for saving space
This is just what I was looking for! Thanks so much.!
Awesome DIY rack ! Thanks for taking the time to post and share this .
Very, very impressive. You are VERY creative. Thanks for sharing, can't wait to try it in my garage.
I can't believe somebody else did this. I was raking the internet looking for good bike rack solutions when I came up with a rack made from barn door hardware that is almost exactly like this. The hooks rotate on mine but hang lower. Thank you for putting this on CZcams. I also think the world would benefit from this but I can't run a business or a CZcams channel. Thank you!
This is everything I love about the internet summed up in a single video... THANK YOU for sharing this genius idea!
So glad you liked it.
No joke just moved into a new house and had this exact idea in my head. Thanks for implementing it and putting it out there!
Glad I could help!
After seeing this video I made one. It is fantastic. 9 bikes on a 8m long rack and two doors in the middle of the way. No problem! Just push the bike from here to there and it's done. Thanks for the idea.
This is a great idea, I found that you can save a bit of money using unistrut for the track and rollers. I'm fabricating a steel shelf to mount to my garage wall and will hang this to the bottom of the shelf. Pro tip, if your bikes take up less space the wife won't notice a new one in the garage!
Great idea. Feel free to add links to alternative struts and rollers.

Ha ha! Not game to post the first thought this triggered!
Big U-bolts with one leg cut off and covered in shrink tube works great with either setup and can be properly threaded into the "trolley" (keyword you should search for uni-strut roller things you need"). Unistrut will end up being about half the price.
Like it. I use a PVC standing rack and the bar/seat post/cable entanglement issues suck, so having the ability to slide bikes out of the way looks awesome. All I need now is wall space!
Thanks so much. This is an amazing idea. Il made one for my garage and fitted easily our 8 bikes. I also must say that i love all of your vidéos and i am hoping that your are going to give us more, now that the winter is coming and that riding season is saddly ending soon, for many of us anyway. Keep on the joy.
What a brilliant idea, will definitely be looking into this option for my garage!
Perfect was searching for same Thanks now I can manage my society cycles nicely n make space clean n clear.
Gotta show this to the bike shop, slick idea 💡
Just built your system! Great idea, thanks so much.
That easily is the best, most useful video I have seen in a while. This simple solution solves my bike storage concerns that I’ve had for 30 years. Thank you for the tutorial.
You’re welcome!!!
This is one of the best racks I’ve seen so far.
This is brilliant! Thanks for sharing. I just added building this rack to my 2021 goals for the garage.
Shawn Anderson Thanks Shawn!!!
This is an excellent DYI idea. Thanks for sharing.
This is awesome super straight forward and easy thank you for sharing
This is an excellent idea and exactly what I need. I love the simple implementation. I am going to get parts today to start installing it.
Thanks for sharing!
Best of luck!
Your idea is BOSS, thanks for helping out my dilemma😊
Best DIY bike rack! 🙌 Rad! Thanks for sharing your brilliant idea. 👍
Simple. Effective. GENIUS!!!
I once stayed in a hotel in Finale Liguria where they had this system. It's brilliant. Thanks for reminding me I need one at home!
Nice!!!
That’s brilliant man! Thanks for giving this to us.
You just improved my storage exponentially!
More bikes!!
In a word: GENIUS...!!
This is superb, thanks for sharing. Between four teenage boys, wife and myself, we have MANY bikes out in the garage. I’ve tried a ton of storage solutions and until now found the best to be a simple 2x board run between two vertical posts slightly above saddle height. Then you just lift the bike a few inches and rest the horn of the saddle on top of the board. Simple, cheap, tidy and effective; however with a bunch of bikes, they do get crowded together. I am going to take the same span in my garage and run a hanging-sliding rack as in this video, should work great.
I won't be able to take advantage of this idea, but I had to let you know that I thought it was genius. Really stable way to hang multiple bikes AND be able to slide them back and forth to select the bike of the day. Great video and idea.
This is brilliant. Huge improvement over my Rubbermaid track system. I have to remove bikes to get at the ones nearest the wall. Another project...
Here I am again! I've been looking for this video for over a year. Huzzah!
As always, extremely useful information. I really appreciate what you do and how you do it.
I appreciate that!
I was just about to spend £500 on a system that effectively does exactly this, cheers dude, you just saved me a wedge.
Best bike rack I've seen by a country mile. I wish this video came up first before I watched 50 others that weren't nearly as good.
Nice idea, perfect to save space, yet avoid the PITA of trying to get closely spaced bikes out. Will definitely have to see if I can get any of those parts locally so I can do my version. Just found this channel and enjoy the informative and to the point videos, with as another commenter said, no stretching it out for longer views.
What an awesome idea. Thanks for the inspiration. We bought our parts at Rona (Revi)and did the same thing. Saves a ton of space.
Ok so I'm randomly browsing the internet looking for ideas to store my bikes and same as you I don't like any of the systems that are in the market, after a couple of videos I found one of my fav CZcamsrs with the best design and idea Bravo!! and many thanks, my friend! you da best!
"THANKS" Alex - brilliant, ive only got S/H bikes but im running out of space & i dont want to sell Any LOL how excellent of you to share - Youre right..."Awesome design" Thanks for sharing🚴🚴♂🚴♀
Excellent way to squeeze in more bikes!
Thanks for sharing. I just ordered all the parts for my build.
This is BRILLIANT!
This idea is Brilliant!!! Pretty much blows all other designs out of the water.
Looks incredible, well done!
I can't tell you how excited I am for my husband to build this. There are so many bikes in my garage right now
This is awesome! Just had a shed built outside for bikes. This is perfect.
DJ Grimes Perfect application!
Love the idea and love the full tutorial.
wow, excellent solution!!!!!!! thank you for sharing!
Love it. I will be building one of these. Much better than my current arrangement.
You are a Genius!!!
Love this idea!
simple design and incredibly effective. thanks for sharing - gonna try to implement one that fits in my space
Fantastic!
THANK YOU!!!... I've been looking at this option, but couldn't pair the right parts. Thanks again for Parts List!
Great solution! Thanks for sharing!!
This is definitely the best rack system I've seen
Such a good idea dude. Keep up the good work!
Love it!! maximal minimalism at its best!! Seems you could install a second rail and by oscillating the bikes on either rail in tandem = be able to condense the amount of space they take up even more
That would be cool!
Dude, this is one of the coolest little inventions ever. Talk about creativity. Subscribing just because of this video. Although I can't do this in my apartment, I could build up a moveable work bench style one. Thanks for the idea, just got to add some extra creativity now for mine.
So far the best solution I've seen for hanging bikes. 👌 I had to share this. 😊
Right on. Thanks.
I really love this idea. Thanks
This is brilliant! Thanks for sharing!!!
This is an awesome video and an awesome solution. Thanks!
This idea is FANTASTIC. I have 4 kids and feel like I'm wading through a sea of bikes whenever I'm in my garage. This might just do the trick!
You'll need two!!
GENIUS! I love it. If I don’t do this by Spring I’m an idiot. Thank you!!
Thank you so much for the step by step guide! I just got done building one in my garage yesterday and couldn’t be happier with the results. Have all five of my families bikes in half the space they used to occupy with room for three more and can still park the car no problem.
Awesome upgrade for the standard wall hooks❤👍
Awesome idea. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the inspiration, I built my own version of this rack this week and I am surprised how well 6 bikes nestle together. Don't tell the missus but I think I can now fit one or two more bikes :)
Brilliant - well done!
Super smart! Thanks for sharing!
That was such a smart piece of information that I have decided to subscribe to your channel. I like it short and sweet and it was.
This is brilliant - love it.
Thank you!
Awesome set up.
I did this exact setup a year ago! its perfect, I just added an extension rod with a couple to make it easier for big mountain bike wheels .
how many inches from the edge of the wall did you mount the rail so the wheels clear the wall when you slide them?
Such a good share!!! Thanks for breaking it down for us
Really cool setup. I think I know what is going in my new garage
Ordered a 12' version of the rail from Ace, but I should have gotten the 20' I think. I got the machine threaded hooks from Park, and with the bigger hook. All installed now, and it's great to be able to slide the bikes out of the way, just with I'd ran it the whole depth of the garage so I could move them further. Thanks for the inspiration.
Making this! Thanks 🫡
I was looking for this solution - just went back to hooks but need the slider solution. Perfect
Todd Stiers Right on!
Hello, this is fantastic. Know that you have made a difference so thank you Sir.
I think is the best design in the web, keep your chilled vibe. Thanks.
Thanks, will do!
