Nissans claim for the 6 speed not being able to handle the power of the nismo makes no sense because I’ve seen tuned manual Z’s make way more than 420hp and be just fine
they could've also partnered up to get a tough enough manual trans from another brand because 400hp should be nothing for a modern manual, like the manual that used to come in srt vehicles or even in modern bmw M's

Granted it’s true about the power, but it’s the torque that the new VR makes that the older VQ37 wouldnt really match. Out of the box is already the amount of torque the VQ WISHES it could make. Any more like the Nismo and I can see where Nissan is coming from
They haven’t made a strong trans since the cd09 trans that came in the 350z

Visually, the back of the car feels like a modernised version of the Fairlady Z. If that was their intention, then it's really cool of them to bring back something from the classics.
100% their intention. Paying homage to all the Z’s before it to the point they even added an Easter egg on the bottom of the back windshield with etched “Since 1969”.
It's cool until you see all the bullshit outside the aesthetics.

Supra manual. Smaller, lighter, cheaper, faster, more agile. Those Supras are all over tracks and put down strong times. Or take a power hit and go GR86
thats what im saying. no manual, it aint worth it pretty simple
but even the supra manual has it's downfalls... quite a bit of rev hang from what I remember from the reviews I saw.. I'd go used SS 1LE if I was going to buy something for the track.. GR86 needs an accusump (low oil pressure in sustained right hand sweepers) if you're going to track it for more than 20 minutes a day.. You can get a used SS 1LE for about the same and have WAY more car

Since the Z came out even in multiple major cities I’ve only seen 1 non-nismo out in the wild and none at any car shows/meets. Wondering if it’s the lack of pace of getting deliveries out or if it’s just been a huge sales flop. They’re gorgeous cars but honestly there should be so much more in it to be competitive in the segment.
i think at the price point they have this car at there are just too many better options so people arent buying them

@@TurkeyWilliams I have an IS 500, and honestly, for the money I paid for it, I don't think I would pick a Z over it. If I was going for something more sporty for $65k-75k I'd rather go to a CT4-V BW or M2. Those cars at least maintain some degree of luxury that you'd expect for the price. I actually have been low-key thinking about going M2. But I am afraid to let the V-8 go because it is simply one of the best engines I've ever experienced.
glad they fixed the known vr30 belt issue. it was about times they fixed it on the z. vr30 q50 q60 had many issues such a headache.

@@faheemabbas3965 Nissan committed suicide. Production stalled due to paint issues. Apparently some ppl are still waiting for their 2022 order. Some orders will be fulfilled year end for Japan. Nissan also tried going green in their factory and its cost them time and numbers apparently.

Even the transmission in my g37 is the same, always in the higher gears, paddle shifters make a huge difference, shifts good for a torque converted auto
I really like this car and how modern the interior has become. I just have a hard time selling my 22 supra for it...everything on paper minus the older interior favors the GR. Maybe I need to drive one.
I’ve noticed the same paddle delay when I test drove one too, the salesman said the ecu learns the upshifts the more you drive but that doesn’t make sense to me, it should shift when you flick the paddle regardless
It NEEDS to warm up, then it's fine. Like 15 minutes run time and it goes away.

Very much enthusied with the looks and the interior design. I have been in a standard 2023 Z and yeah overall felt nice. And in person it looked even better to me.
But between dealer stories and no manual it turns this car into an easy pass for me. Nissan was so close to making a solid update to the Z.

maybe it wasn’t manual for 0-60 numbers and such. Also maybe couldn’t handle the extra power of this tune. Agree with you totally on the car. It’s so awesome and beautiful. The exhaust sounds exotic and the whoosh of the intake is AMAZING. Cool video.

It’s a dct. Technically it’s built like a manual internally with electric shifting. Not a traditional auto.
$65k for this is crazy, a Q60 with a tune makes the same power off the same engine with a lower price. jeez nissan.

@@occckid123 the Q60 is similar weight to this spec, it's not as big of a gap as the old Z's were. when it was 3400 compared to 3700, new Z's are 3700 in total.
@@BandoLando what does that have to do with turning in a lap time? Wheelbase matters along with many of the suspension upgrades. I bet this feels 10× better on a back road or track compared to the q60.
@@occckid123 okay but upgrading the suspension on the Q60 isn't going to cost an additional 20 grand to match the Z's base price. Just for the money in the current market the Z makes no sense compared to a car with the exact same drivetrain and features even the weight. mind you this nismo is AUTO only.
Beautiful car, unfortunate that their business MO right now is out of this world and not in a good way. Cars way too expensive for what it is, even though its great looking and has good power. Reminds me of my nismo 370z and q60 red sport- cool cars and great looking and durable but when you get into paying high $$ its easy to cross shop and not look back.

Drove one. Then drove a new Supra. Got the Supra. SO many compliments when I'm out. Even my 24 Mustang GT 10 speed is more fun than the Nismo was. It wasn't bad, but the Jatco 9 speed was awful.

It’s supposed to be a track focus car and if you track your car, you definitely do not want a manual it would be too slow It should have a dual clutch transmission.

Why do enthusiasts even bother assessing the auto transmission in auto mode? Most of yous are manual aficionados, so why not do the next best thing - row through your own gears with the paddles? The auto mode will be for when you're tired and just don't care about driving and just want to get home with as little drama as possible, you don't need it to hold it in a lower gear when you push it then. And when you drive for fun, you shift yourself whenever you like.
It's actually great, I can lazily drive lie a crazy person. It downshifts for you too.

This car is such an L for me, old architecture, automatic only, stupid dealers marking it up like crazy, man! Makes me so happy for choosing a '24 Miata instead.
This is probably the worst automatic transmission for a modern sports car yet he says he likes it and has no complaints lol. The gr86 auto he was shitting on it non stop. You do not get denied upshifts in the gr86 auto like with the Z.
The Jatco is a turd, everyone knows it, and it isn't clear that Nissan fixed the problems during the stop sale.

In UK Supra manual flopped hard when they finally introduced it. Mostly Autos sold. Hardly see them to begin with. So Nissan were right not to bring the Z

Covidflation has made a lot of cars stupidly overpriced unfortunately. On top of dealerships acting like you’re buying a one off Ferrari….
50k for the Nismo would have been passable…especially if it had a manual and a good one at that.
Kind of the same story as usual though….the 370z was a tough sell at the time too….especially as the years went on. For around $45k you could get a performance pack Mustang or SS 1LE…
If you wanted a an affordable drivers car (new), you bought a BRZ or Miata. If you wanted something “fast,” you bought a Mustang, Camaro etc. Hyundai Gen Coupe with the 3.8 too was pretty popular at the time.
New Z has the same issue…it’s too old underneath and too expensive.
Bummer…it’s a great looking car. It looks amazing in the right color…it just needs to be about 10-15k cheaper for all trim levels.
The fact you need to spend $45k+ just to get an LSD for 400+ hp RWD car is wild.
You could buy a brand new Elantra N AND an ND2/3 Miata for nearly the same money as the nismo Z lol…
The Z is going to be one of most infamous case studies of how to screw up every aspect of a product launch. Not just any product either...a brand icon. It's been a complete shitshow from top to bottom.
Not a fan of those wheels but really a beautiful car. Too bad about the subpar chassis and transmission. The committee that designed and approved that dorky shifter should be let go! 🫤
My guess is no manual version because the buyer audience for this model is already small. Having two transmission versions of the same vehicle wouldn't be profitable. People who have money to buy this are going elsewhere. The price and value isn't there compared to competitors. Nissan would lose more money if the built manual versions. Z enthusiasts will buy which is virtually no one. They barely sell GTRs like they use to.
Only people with money are buying GTRS really. the used car market is insane but, I rather buy a eba gtr than this nismo z. I have a 370z and I’m not impressed with it either lol 😂
