@@poubellemoche172 I'll help with the sypnosis: BTS debuted in 2013, in a small company Bighit Entertainment, which at that time is a low budget bankrupt company. So that time, the Big 3 companies (SM, YG and JYP) were ruling kpop and had much praises in media and entertainment industries while Bighit didn't get much exposure since company backgrounds are what mattered for success. BTS had large sales and awards and were already competing with powerful groups in those Big 3 companies in their rookie years so the media decided to burry BTS' achievements so it will seem the Big 3 is still in the lead. So basically BTS stood their ground, lowered their pride, even when they face mistreatments and disrespectful moments, they still gave their 100% efforts for the fans and because they love music and performing. Since BTS broke the rule of Big 3 who are the only ones allowed to win Grand Prices in Award shows in 2016, it brought alot of attention, positive and negative. BTS haters, also the Big 3 stans, knew BTS was a threat and threw shits at them to bring them down, but what happened? BTS' success grew bigger and bigger until they already surpassed the Big 3 in terms of impact, numbers, sales. Until now, BTS keeps growing and growing until they are no longer in that Kpop bubble. They always make music that escapes the sterotypes of Kpop. If you want more details go to xceleste channel and you'll see alot of compilation of BTS from nobodies to legends.

The hosts later admitted to treating bts worse on purpose and that they wouldn't do that now that bts are so big, but they never apologised.
It wasn't exactly a comedy show but the hosts are known to throw jabs at visiting artists. The thing was that they did a lot worse to bts than any other artist who has visited, usually it's just off handed jokes and stuff, but with bts the entire show was just "let's sh*t on these 7 boys".

The boys couldn’t be disrespectful towards these hosts, as in Korea, you can’t be disrespectful to older people or higher in position etc. than you. It’s just a cultural difference. Showing respect is a huugee thing there. If they had said something they would had been cancelled completely by the Korean public and citizens. I don’t think they would support their music if they had committed such “offence”. That’s why they couldn’t say anything to “Doni and Coni” (these “comedy”guys)
There is another video where they use like “hammer toy” and smack idol girl members so hard on the head. It’s really just painful to watch and how it was even allowed.

And people literally try to argue that it was a funny show, belittling everything, stating that Weekly Idol is boring and stale now cause D&C aren’t on it, and claim people who didn’t like the old hosts were too soft and didn’t understand the humour. Like hunny please, verbal/ psychological or physical bullying is not funny, and if you have to resort to that in order to be ‘funny’, then boy are you a sh*t comedian and TV show host. Seen countless of people under old Weekly Idol clips complain about D&C being gone because of ‘too sensitive’ kpop stans of different groups, saying D&C’s humour is based around being rude, Kpop idols expected it, and they probably don’t even care/ don’t take any of their words to heart. They obviously lack empathy and understanding basic body language signs if they think that some kpop idols didn’t care. They literally try to normalise D&C’s behaviour and it’s kinda disgusting imo.
Sorry, ranting here, I just remembered how people are trying to defend D&C. Like yeah, we aren’t the idols and we don’t know what they’re thinking, and maybe some really didn’t care, but you can clearly tell by some guests’ body language and tone of voice and mannerisms that some things affected them. It’s like defending a bully, claiming the victim doesn’t care and you just don’t understand that it’s funny to see someone else get torn down in front of everyone, that because they don’t see anything wrong with it, then no one should, and if you do you’re ‘too sensitive’.

Yeah that particular episode of the show at minute 7:30 is infuriating. The so-called jokes the hosts made and the edits of the show all seemed to be made to belittle the boys and make them look stupid and lacking talent, most probably because of them not being part of the Big Three. I don't know how some found the jokes normal, because even in the Korean culture, which is more tolerant to jokes than we are, they were actually not. And that rapper B-Free who called them girls for wearing make up is hated by all ARMY around the world. But you know what they say, KARMA is a b****. "they might as well be their own genre" exactly. back in the day kpop stans 'banished' bts from kpop, they said they were an embarrassment and want nothing to do with them. this is why armys (mostly on twitter where kpop stans fight us) made a genre for bts alone, which is BTSpop. we don't see them as kpop anymore, but now that bts has gotten so big, kpop stans started to claim bts as kpop again, wanting their influence in the industry. they even claim bts' achievements as their own. kpop stans made fun of bts for wanting a grammy nomination and claimed they didn't deserve it, but when bts finally got the nomination, they claimed it as a kpop achievement and celebrated it as if its their own when they were against it at first, and its always been like that. they give so much hate to the boys unless it benefits them. and now that bts has gotten so big in the west, western stans send them hate all the time. its everyone against them: kpop stans, western stans, k-media; literally everyone. this is why armys are so loyal to bts. its bts and army and thats it.
ps. army are seen as toxic when we're mostly the ones who didn't start it. people only look when we retaliate and talk back, and turn a blind eye to the people who talked shit at first. i'll be glad to be seen as toxic when that's their mindset idc

They are still being ignored by the media, a music industry expert said one of the reason mainstream media don’t like them is because their success came without the help of mainstream media so the media ppl felt threatened and got their ego bruised. You know there are reports on how most artists had to pay radio for the dj to play their songs even playlisting on streaming platforms needed some persuasion and since bts doesn’t need to follow those corruption in the system makes their existence is a challenge the industry norms. When i watch this all i remember how many similar instance were was and it makes my heart burn. There is also so many Korean culture context missing that makes all this so much worse than it sounds in western culture terms.
There is so much hate around BTS and ARMY for years that even ARMY is basically choking on it. When BTS were powerless they were exploited and abused and called nobodies. When they gone higher than anyone before them in k-pop industry they still are bashed. This time for being too successful that it makes everyone else insecure.
And yes ARMY is defensive. Super defensive, cause we always had to be on defense from the start, so even now when we grown into powerhouse on our own, we still cant relax. We still in defense mode, cause we never were treated fairly. And as much as k-pop fans like to lie to themselves and others that it is ARMY who acts entitled and showing off and because of that are not liked. Facts are ARMY is just not trusting and defensive cause they never gave us any reasons to trust them. ARMY and k-pop fans history is full of disrespect, vicious attacks, propaganda company against ARMY and BTS, constant backstabbing after we gave new leaf it a try. ARMY is tough, cause they made us to become so or be obliterated. ARMY don't forget or forgive easy and that is a bed they made for themselves so i my book they should just suck it up now. Same korean entertainment industry gets nothing from BTS anymore for years, they made their bed also.

You should check out The Most Beautiful Life Goes On, and if you want an even deeper dive into their start, The Rise of Bangtan series. The Rise Of Bangtan is a fan edited/compiled documentary of BTS’s journey. I no joke wait weekly for it because it’s such a high quality edit and super comprehensive. BTS has so much footage out there and it’s overwhelming to go through them all, for new ARMY like us this series is great if you want all the details that are hard to find now.

"they might as well be their own genre" This is exactly why ARMY's will correct you if you call BTS kpop. They are not kpop anymore. They're risen above that. They are BTSpop and ARMY's will continue to say this until the media get it. We will not allow them to be associated with the industry that tried everything to tear them down. BTS are South Korean artists now (the way we explain it is, you wouldn't call Beyonce, Michael Jackson or Ariana Grande R&B and Pop, so why would you call BTS kpop? They are their own people). Some international news publications have adapted this when writing their articles, but k-media and kpoppies still call them "kpop". We're still working to stop this from happening, but it's a long process.

We all know what happened to B-Free and his online apology later :D

The most painful for me is when a young Jungkook was disrespected by a tv show called Flower Crew. How badly he was hurt and humiliated. How he begged the Army not to vote for him so they won't be mad at him. How they didn't say sorry but they just justify their actions. If you want to react or just watch it here are some of the clips:

Even the leader of the group Twice Jihyo said that BTS opened doors to western culture.

Bts is also a great inspiration for new Kpop groups and these groups have BTS as a goal

They have impacted so many lives, have shown how to be better people, to accept yourself, love yourself, and in turn love each other.
