Now the kids who thought Griffey Jr was super cool with the hat on backwards are the old angry guys. 😂
The Dave Winfield glove snap
Old heads will be old heads.
Yeah cause that shit is gay
Exactly I had a good friend have a gnarly injury due to a slide
Or he heard “drip” and realized it’s nothing but a messed up fashion statement. So yea, I’d you’re in high school and you’d rather worry about appearances than fundamentals, the coach isn’t doing his job.
Drip when you can afford to leave the faucet on and pay your own water bill
Focus on the game not the drip
Young and dumb will always be young and dumb
We always put our batting gloves in our back pockets 15 years ago. I don’t see how this is any different
It’s way different. A lot of guys use batting gloves in the field never seen a fielder need a kitty mitt and not to mention it’s a pussy thing anyways slide with your balls out.
Luckily it’s THEIR team so feel free to see it however you like
Its not a batting glove its a giant oven mitt lol, either way idc personally i just view it being weird on defense.
It looks stupid.
Rule number 1, always look cool. Some think it's always be cool, but nobody can always be cool, but you can always look cool.
Rule number 2, never ever, EVER get lost...
Rule number 3, when you get lost, because eventually you will get lost...refer to rule number 1.
It doesn't look cool, it looks dumb. Griffey Jr was cool with his backwards hat. Craig Biggio with all of his wrist tape and wristbands looked cool. Bryce Harper looks cool with his headband. The oven mitt looks fucking dumb. Use it for what it's for. I understand why professionals want to protect their million dollar fingers. But it is one of the dumbest looking things I've ever seen...
It serves no purpose and looks dumb.

@@Cubs1719kids should learn concepts like teamwork and discipline. That includes following the coaches rules. If that means not keeping the goofy looking hand warmer in your pocket. Its not about me, its about we, the team
You sounds salty.
Too late, while you’re at it get rid of the unwritten rules as well…
But is it effecting their ability to play or are you just being a salty ass coach who wasn’t allowed to play with any kind of personal style back in the day?
Style??? What are you smoking! Since when is an oven mitt stylish??? This is all about protecting your hands when you slide. But when you watch HS and College games now, you never see anyone sliding head first. They all wanna be Trea Turner and slide by the bag and just tag it with their mitt-covered hand. He was never a base stealer thats why
Looks like he stole burgers not bases.
Why tf you need a mit on defense you have a glove not a mit and your not stealing a base or sliding to a base no need for the mit when your playing defense

We used to make fun when we played club teams. Every single kid had an oven mitt. So when we played one on Sunday our top 4 hitters had actual oven mitts in their pockets. It was awesome. Then we smoked the club team.
“the oven mitt is so embarrassing that i have to stop the game and embarrass my self and a kid who is just emulating their hero because i’m not comfortable with things i don’t understand”
Yes having a mitt you don’t need unless your on base is embarrassing. He fully understands that getting on base is more important than “having style.” Get on the Dahm bag then you can have all the drip you want.
@@Squidpaws469 The mitt doesn't prevent you from getting on base.

bro you guys dont know about that drip
I don’t really get how sliding mitts are legal in baseball especially in MLB. In a game that frequently comes down to inches and replay review, that extra inch or two on a sliding mitt could be the difference between a runner being out and safe. Idk maybe it’s just me
it’s more like 1/2 an inch at most
Stuff some cork in there for extra reach
That's why baseball is stuck in the 1900s ya don't let players express themselves

Yeah . Like an oven mitt helps anyone play better. Not . Kids now are pussies . Never used a batting glove in My life and thats catching 100 mph fastball a all day .
Coaches probably want the kids to focus on what they're telling them to do instead of worrying about an oven mitt. Probably 3 will actually get on base anyway

Because they think it looks dumb. Who cares? They're kids, let them have fun imitating big leaguers.
I had a coach who called guys who wore the headphones, the armbands, the towels, and all of the other “drip” things Cool Daddies.
“All you damn Cool Daddies, I need some tough daddies.” You know who they are, the guys who just show up and work. The sack lunch guys. No way in hell if I’m coaching the kids will any of them use one of those oven mitts!!
Why? They don’t harm your game they only make it better, they literally protect your hands from getting cut up or cleared and the make sliding smoother as it’s a flat surface which will glide more

AJ had twice as many caught stealing as he had actual bases stolen. No wonder he’s acting all fake macho on the oven mitts haha
As a coach i always told my players to quit wearing sleeves. Sleeves early on meant you had an injury on that part of your arm or leg. I had one Basketball player lose an opportunity to even have a D1 recruiter come see him because he thought my guy had an elbiw injury.
These guys probably get livid when they see a bat flip
