Tripwire Interactive and Antimatter Games Adds New Playable Faction, Maps, Weapons, and More to Award-winning First-person Shooter
ROSWELL, Ga. -- Tuesday, May 29 -- Tripwire Interactive and developer Antimatter Games continue to expand and improve their award-winning first-person shooter RISING STORM 2: VIETNAM with today’s release of the free Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) Content Update. As part of its continued commitment to support its active community with regular and significant free updates, today’s ARVN Content Update introduces the Army of the Republic of Vietnam as a playable faction along with new maps, weapons, and more.
Over one million Vietnamese served in the ARVN over the course of the Vietnam War, with over 250,000 lost in action. Largely equipped with older US military equipment and trained by foreign military advisors, ARVN soldiers bore the brunt of frontline fighting throughout the war both prior to the escalation of US military involvement and after the US began reducing its troop presence.
With the release of the ARVN update on May 29, 2018 for RISING STORM 2: VIETNAM players can play as soldiers in the ARVN faction for the first time, as well as enjoy new weapons and five brand-new maps.
Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) Weapons:
• M1 Garand
• M1D Garand Sniper Rifle
• Thompson M1A1 SMG
• M1918A2 Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR)
• M1919A6 .30-cal Browning LMG
• Douglas A-1 Skyraider ground-attack aircraft as support
New Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) Maps:
• Quang Tri: Set during 1972, Quang Tri is a daytime supremacy map set in the citadel of the provincial capital, pitting the new ARVN forces with limited US helicopter support against NVA main-force units.
• A Sau: Set on an airfield and fortified camp in the A Sau valley, this nighttime territory attack map finds ARVN forces defending against attacking NVA main-force units. Visibility is limited under the cover of darkness with occasional flares lighting up the battlefield.
New Community Maps:
Made by fans for fans, the following player-made maps from Tripwire Interactive’s recent RISING STORM 2: VIETNAM $40,000 Modding Contest will also be officially introduced to the game with the release of the ARVN update.
• Firebase Georgina: Daytime attack by main-force NVA on a series of positions held by the US Army.
• Borderwatch: Australian forces attack territory held by the NLF (Viet Cong), pushing through jungles and across open fields to the VC’s final hidden base.
• Resort: US Marines stage a heliborne assault from the sea on a resort area held by Viet Cong guerrillas.

Youhavetherighttobewrong I'm kind of curious so I want to ask: what does it lack? I haven't noticed a departure of elements coming up from RO2 besides removing the finnicky cover setup but I'm not one to notice integral mechanics so easily.

yea, UE4 would make this game even better. They need a new Lean system (I know they literally just made changes to it..but come on, it still sucks.) PUBG and Squad! have such smooth leaning, especially during quick movement.

best game ever, i love the intense fights and the oldskool styles of it.
I have been a huge fan of the Battlefield franchise, especially BF Vietnam, so when I recently saw a link to this game and checked it out, I had to buy it and I am not disappointed. I have played several games now and I have to say game play is intense! Even though the graphics are outdated the game still provides an immersive environment. I applaud the devs - well done!

GamersOnVideos they are not even ‘quite’ similar. They focus on widely different stuff. Either you know nothing of the franchises or you are just stupid. Battlefield focuses on fun and gameplay while Red Orchestra focuses on the opposite with high damage values and tactical gameplay. Their similarities does not outweigh their differences.

I have 357 hours in RS2. It's by far the best shooter out there; authentic, visceral, and by FAR the best gun mechanics and ballistics.
I prefer the original Rising Storm/Red Orchestra 2, but this trailer makes me want to give RS2 another shot.

Next game should be Korean war, mostly same weapons with some new and improved, and factions could be USMC, US Army, South Korean Army, and North Korean Army, and Chinese PVA. Also could have special maps with other UN units like the Brits and Turks.

Whenever I see this kind of american game developers treating their allied nation who supported them poorly such as not adding S.Korean army in the game, (eventhough S.Korea sent 2nd largest military personnel to Vietnam to help US) I kinda understand why there are some anti US protests in S.Korea despite the fact that US helped S.Korea during Korean War.
America treat their allied nation S.Korea poorly who supported them in the war and this makes some Koreans angry cuz they are not getting enough respect for their sacrifice.
Some people may call me biased just becuz I am Korean but I wonder who wouldn't get mad when your allied nation treat you poorly and don't even mention your sacrifice.

Any plans for Red Orchestra 3? I just couldn't get into this vietnam setting, enjoyed RO2 way more where everyone didn't have automatic weapons. Anyways trailer looks cool and bet it's hella fun for those that enjoy the setting.

Maybe korea, ww1, the soviet Afghanistan war, Spanish american war (with almost exclusively shotguns, revolvers, rifles, and stationary machine guns if you love red orchestra 2 for less automatics), russo-japanese war, and so on would be interesting.
It would be cool if Tripwire made a WW2 game with more unique theaters, like Finland, Norway, Mongolia, China, the Balkans or North Africa.

One of the community managers on Tripwire have said that Red Orchestra 3 is likely, and will most likely stay in the Eastern Front of WW2.

Would be pretty cool to add 2 new factions like the MACV and ROK with some unique weapons to them like the Uzi which were used by MACV, nagant revolver that can attach a suppressor and even the semi auto 11-48 shotgun. Anyways good job on making a fun realistic FPS, Tripwire

Underrated game. If the game was released in it's current form then I'm sure allot of people would have stayed around instead of dropping the game. I hope they pick it up again because it's worth it, despite all the bugs that are still present in the game, no other game on the market can capture combat the way it's done in this game.

This game is amazing and I love it to bits! I do wish there was some kind of medic class though!Not that they would revive the dead but they can help heal wounded teammates, and when some soldiers are on the ground screaming “Ex:”MEDIC PLEASE...PLEASE SOMEONE” A medic can run over and give them back 50% of their health!
In case any dev sees this, can you implement the old fire texture? The fire looked so stunning and scary before with napalm or flamethrower. Now it looks thin and "cloudy" imo
