05 YFZ 450 water pump seals and bearing

- It was time to tear the side cover off the 2005 yfz 450 and replace all the water pump seals and bearing. pretty straight forward job just using a little heat and cold from the freezer makes the job even easier. so not much talking in this one just some music some sport quad maintenance.

Do you have to take the exhaust off looks like there’s enuff room to do it with it on
No I don’t think it has to come off it was just more room to get the case out and more light for the camera. Plus I knew my exhaust would come right off and wasn’t seized on as Id had it off recently to wrap it.
Can this cause the coolant to mix with the oil?
Yes sometimes, there’s two seals in the shaft and if the inner one fails it will allow water and oil to mix. If you see drips out of the weep hole one the bottom the outer seal failed if it’s in the oil both seal failed. Always replace the shaft even if it looks fine or you will start leaking aging quickly.
Wich way you putting them seals in???
Sorry I’m slow, I can’t recall exactly but I believe the open side where you can see the spring faces in towards the engine. I put them back the way mine came out I know that much lol.
