BMW 5 series leather is so good. It's top grain and looks so nice with it's relief without any defects. I prefer it over smooth leather.

A simple chip tune puts this car at a lot more power. From 390hp to 493hp so imagine it then.
This powertrain is really exciting. Unlikely but would love to see something like a M345e. Would absolutely rip!
I'd say Fineline Ridge is a pretty classy wood trim! If I were to buy a 5-series, I'd definitely go for it.
I would take the Cove instead of the Ridge...
Wood is fine in an old S-class but in modern car its out of place with all the modern tech

Great car, astonishing performance and versatility now that it has the electric motor.
I own a 2017 540i Xdrive and love the car to bits, that 6 cylinder engine is just so smooth and powerful it's just mesmerizing.
Thinking in couple of years to get the 545e Xdrive which will help in London with all its restrictions and awful traffic.

Happy to see they went for the 6-inline. Because the four cylinder 530e has an absolutely terrible drivetrain. I absolutely hated to drive it since it feels that sluggish and irresponsive.

Loving my 545e. Picked it up in January. Aventurine Red III with ivory white nappa leather and piano black interior. Unfortunately no autobahn here in Ireland but we do have cops on every ramp on motorways waiting to catch you go over the limit of 120kmh.

Oh yes, I love that Tanzanite Blue Individual paint. Definitely a PHEV that would appeal to me. I know the B58 engine can easily be remapped or tuned for more power & torque, but wouldn't it be cool if you could do the same with the electric motor? LOL!
Thanks for this, it inspired me to buy one and it’s a fabulous car. I’ve had six 5 series, including three M5s and it has excellent performance and surprising economy. Make sure you get one with all of the packs and the pano sunroof to get the full experience. I love mine.

That 530e is not as fast on the german Autobahn. Just overtook it above 210 kmh using 2003 MB diesel which is running flawlessly.

I've been driving a few different BMW's over the last 10 years. Generally impressed with them. This model impresses me more and I am very interested. The only thing that keeps me up at night is that it is a newer model and longevity has not been proven. With the complexity of the engine and drive train, only BMW will be the only ones who can work on this car. You will be at their mercy as far as the cost and amount of repairs. Once the warranty period expires, I see the used price of these cars dropping like rocks. If BMW wants to sell a ton of these, simply increase the warranty from 4 years to 6-10 years on electrical and mechanical issues. I would not hesitate to buy one if that were the case. Even if they had to raise the MSRP a few thousand dollars, it would be worth it.

Damn,0-100 in 4.4 is mad for such a big car, i thought it wud for sure be slower than a f30 stage 1 330e that does it in 4.9 , this thing cud possibly go sub 4 seconds with ease on a stage 1 tune

I have the same interior as this but with the ivory leather on my 520d M sport
Lovely car, but spoiled by a steering lacking in feedback, and noisy run flat tyres.
Similar refinement to the F10, but a lot less wind noise around the A pillars.
Had a 525d F10 previously, a E60 520d before that, a E39 520i and a E34 520i which was my first venture into BMW ownership.
The E60 was by far the most stable at high speed, 145mph + and had the best steering feel.
The E39 was the most refined, especially with regards to road noise, much quieter than the later cars.
The G30 suffers from the same vibration through the floor and seat base at 110 to 130kph as the F10.
Two F10's my brother had, had the same issue.
The forums never came to a conclusion as to what was causing it, and the strange thing is, in the G30 you can only feel it in the drivers seat.
On the passenger side it's not obvious at all.
Weird, I'll keep it for another few years anyway, see what the new one is like when it arrives next year.

One remark, when talking about the battery-pack, you specify the capacity in kW, that should be kWh. (Otherwise, it’s like as if you are saying the gas tank can contain 50 horsepower of fuel.)
Better dont do that those hybrids are way more heavy and complicated , they compromise everything including the ride quality to get realistic 30-40 km in town with the speed of the turtle and for that have to charge very long time. My neighbor have x5 45e i see him charge it only one time he say is no point bcs it takes too long and he get 15+ l/100km consumption in town. I have 530d and do 10l with 20 inch wheels . On the long juries the x5 is doing 10 l/100km when you drive with 90km/h. You know well how good the consumption of 530d is.
Well he did say 12 kWh (12 kilowatt-hours), well at least I heard it, and watched that piece twice.
@@martintop2605 I've seen reports that when there are defects under warranty, even the manufacturer has problems solving them. In the long term, I believe it to be financially and environmentally unfeasible. A car that could serve for many years ends soon after the manufacturer's warranty expires, generating even more piles of rubbish.
@@gtonroad7547 True it make no sense , its made only for the emission test when the battery is full. After that the customer make the beta testing for this super complicated system.
@@martintop2605 We have a X5 45e at home and we charge it every day. You can get atleast 60-80km of electrical range. So I don't see why your neighbor doesn't charge it. It takes 7-8 hours of charging but if you are not doing more then 60 km's that's no problem. And in combination with the inline 6 you can get pretty decent fuel consumption. We have done one big trip of 1300 km and our fuel consumption was around 10 liters when we didn't charge the battery on the way. And averaging 10 liters with a 530d is pretty much. Weve had the previous model and averaged 7.2 liters on 150k km's.

Only 285bhp for the B58? the current M340i/M440i have 100bhp more than that with the same engine... how easy would it be to tune it back up to that spec? I assume very easy as its probably all ECU

My 540i did 32MPG UK, only had this a few weeks and it is about the same,electric motors aren't as efficient on the highway and you are carrying the extra weight.Going in to London is where this scores,you can cruise about on electric and I managed 70 MPG going from London to Oxford the other day which is better than my old 530d.Great car

I have a 530e sedan and my comsumption on the highway (120km/h) is around 6.5l/100km with empty battery, in the winter (with some battery juice i get around 6 on long strechtes (300km)). I think this 545e will consume a bit more because of the extra weight (6 cylinder + xdrive), not sure how much but at least 0.5l more.

To be honest, i would stick with the b58 engine instead of the v8 in this case, its a sublime powertrain with alot of potential and good reliability and far greater maintenability than any v8 bmw produces.

Hi Alexander, is your also coming without a touch screen? Mine comes end of March and due to microchip shortages the Navi will not be a touch screen and no Apple CarPlay for the start- will be updated at a later date.
@@bmw_fan7177 Hi Brendan, it will have everything I ordered, except inductive charges, but I don‘t need it. It was part of a package.
I insisted to get the car with all options, I have chosen, for sure with Touch Display.
I ordered it in July and actually it should have been delivered November.
@@alexandertissen4 I ordered mine in November and current delivery date is the end of March. A month after ordering BMW informed me that they would not be able to deliver the car with the touch screen and Apple car play. I can also live without those options but I paid for them and BMW give ZERO compensation or reduction in price. That I find annoying but hopefully after the first drive all that will be forgotten. Enjoy your new car!!!
@@bmw_fan7177 Hi Brendan, i think the dealer was talking about the idrive controller not having touch capability, because as far as i know the no touchscreen BMWs were produced in a short period around November.
I was informed at the end of November last year but for sure it will not come with a touch screen navigation display. My car will be delivered at the start of April And according to the dealer the car would have been delayed by min. 2 months if they would deliver with touch screen. Apple car play will be available from end of May and will be an over the air update. Both issues caused from the shortage of microchips. I was not given the choice to wait and then get my car with a touch screen

@@mirofin it depends on what you need, two different car types. If you need the luggage of a station wagon g31 is better and g30 not an alternative specially with the small space bacj due to batteries on "E" version.
