    Dear Berkley, the Kelly’s Outdoors just sold a couple of Choppos. Broke off a Whopper Plopper a few weeks back. That price tag makes it hurt. Thanks for reviewing something to ease my lure addiction guilt. 👊🏻

    What I’ve found is just opposite, I believe the WP (130, 110 & 75 models) to be louder a lot louder than the Berkley CheapO. I’ve had problems with the hooks bending out and also breaking on the Berkley, though they are extremely sharp.
    A very helpful tip I stumbled across to help with line twist and keep the baits from twisting/spinning when the baits tail section becomes bent and or fouled up is to add a split ring and swivel to the bait. -Brad

    • @TKOutdoors
      @TKOutdoors  Před 5 lety +1

      I agree with everything you said, but I noticed that you left the whopper plopper 90 series off of your list. That's the model I throw the most and it has the smallest tail of all of them. It is with out a doubt the quieter bait. I catch more on the 90 than the 75 or the choppo. I'm going to do a direct comparison soon between the same size and color choppo and plopper to test my theory. Going to fish them at the same time as well.

      Isn't any better with the whopper plopper. Video after video I loose hooks due to crappy snap rings. You pay this much for either bait you expect quality. They work, but they do need upgrades.

      I agree. Loon is probably the best WP for most situations. It catches the most fish for us too. (Mostly stained to muddy water in Texas) It's just that one spot where it's ultra clear which is rare in our area that they like more realistic or just more white on baits.

    I haven’t tried the choppo yet, but I can see how both could work well in different scenarios. Sometimes louder is better or higher pitch instead of a lower pitch. I will say the WP 75 is a killer in clear, pressured or cold water. If you haven’t tried throwing the WP 75 on a warmer winter day...give it a shot and see 👍.

      I have a 75 and have had decent luck with it, but the softer 90 series is my #1 confidence bait all spring and summer long. • @TKOutdoors
      @TKOutdoors  Před 5 lety +2

      I have several older whopper ploppers and the hooks/split rings are horrible. However I noticed a new one I bought the split rings are beefed up. I did notice I bent a hook or two on the choppo. I can't honestly say which hook is better at the moment.

    I like the choppo dont get me wrong but the only reason I think it is not better then the whopper plopper is the durability I never had a whopper plopper break on me but with the choppo I broke the plopper pice when I hooked into a decent sized fish other that that is sounds better but it's cheap and breaks easily

    • @TKOutdoors

      Of course, I see plenty of people on CZcams catching big ones on ploppers. In one of my earlier videos I broke off a 5-6 pounder on a plopper. I'll eventually get a good one with the bait. It really doesn't matter to me, I just enjoy being outdoors fishing.

      Red breast sunfish... We call them red belly and they are usually much darker in the other dark water rivers we fish. Yes we eat them, probably the best tasting pan fish in our area. Very sweet meat and highly valued around here. Luckily most of our rivers in this area have them. Did you ever fish the whopper plopper any?

      The Kelley's Outdoors I took it out, had no luck being winter. We’ve just hit early spring now so will definitely give it another go. I think my one is a Chinese knock off tho as it has a hard tail...or maybe it’s a choppo after all lol, the eBay ad did say Whopper Plopper.
      Rivers and lakes are getting a little low around here coming out of the dry winter season so hopefully we’ll get some rain which should spark the fish up a bit.
