Mr. Martin, I must say that your influence on me back in the early 80’s has had a lasting affect. You encouraged myself and a friend to start bass fishing the canals and ponds west of town in northern Palm Beach County. At that time, I’d be hard pressed to tell a bass from a bluegill, but I learned fast. Using the barest of equipment and lures, simple plastic worms typically, we eventually made our way out to Lake O, where the big bass play. After watching this video, we certainly learned how big gators can change ones perspective of the hole you’re fishing, especially when the gator seems, or most likely is, bigger than your 10’ aluminum John Boat, though I’ve come to understand their behaviors much more since then.
My friend Dennis soon became a business owner and his time is dedicated as such to this day, so unfortunately he has little time for what we enjoyed so carefree in our youth.
As for myself, and my time is also somewhat limited, I have since taken my fishing explorations, though somewhat limited, into the saltwater realm as well. Offshore, near shore, inshore and fresh water are all fair game. My favorite target species of the salt water variety however, is Snook. And I will attribute that to you. The extreme similarities when casting for the smaller Snook in the mangroves and that of fishing for bass has brought me full circle. I sincerely thank you for that.
I am so happy that I found your CZcams channel.
    Thank you Mr. Martin,
    Bobby

My Father told me when I was a kid, that most fishing lures were designed to caught the fisherman, more than the fish. That was more than fifty years ago. The Arbogast Jitter Bug, and the Heddon Crazy Crawler, will do the same thing. It is a top water gurgle bait in a new wrapper. But hey, I am going to buy me one too, because you can not have enough lures.

Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup czcams.com/users/postUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.

I actually found both of mine hung up in grass on the bank. People forget about the prop baits.I encourage more people to try prop-type topwater baits. My friend and I fished two days in a row in the 80's while on fall break and his Dad took us out on the third day and caught a 5-3/4 lb largemouth within his first two casts on first brush pile on a point on that Diamond Eye and razzed us all day about fishing two days and not getting a single fish and he got one in first 5 mins on water. Not often does he have help! If you look on many video he is reaching to adjust the camera himself. Scott helps with the editing when he is around. he travels a hole lot.

Rolands been a real hero of mine since I was a kid. What a phenomenal fisherman and perhaps an even better teacher. If you apply 25% of his techniques to your fishing game you will see a major improvement!

I've enjoyed your show since I was just a kid. Glad to see you still in action! I picked up a couple Whopper Ploppers for an upcoming trip to Alaska. I'm hoping Pike will like them as well.

I've caught a few gars and catfish on mine. They tore up my hooks though. I just replace the hooks and it's as good as new. I've caught about 250 bass every year for the past few years on mine.

You mean you learned a lot 'thu "his videos not thru or through the reason I point this out is right before I watched this video I watched a Jimmy houstan video with his wife from the 80s and he got annoyed when she crossed his line before he even landed a fish he caught in the same spot I'm still laughing because he complained 'i got a fish out of that spot and you casted over there before I got thu (Thu with no r not thru with a r)since Jimmy is one of the 3 legends with Roland and they all let their kuntry slang hang out you learned a lot Thu rolands vids not thru

Great video Mr. Martin; so glad an honored to receive your information. Thank you! You are certainly always cool and calm with those alligators, I would have trouble reaching into the water to land a bass after being stalked by a gator..and fishing from my belly boat (inner-tube) would be totally out of the question!😂 Not a problem here in central Texas but some in other areas and the coast. Thanks again. Fish On!🎣
