    This was literally what he was doing practicing the cross-draw sitting on a pew & it cocked the gun pulling it up & his finger was on the trigger. Thanks, watching this gives me the puzzle piece i didn't have.

    Thanks for the good teaching video and safety tips on drawing the crossdraw. As holster makers we too have seen some CAS shooters transition to what we call the "Strong Cross" which is straight up and down (without the normal 30 degree angle). Also, CAS shooters requesting the throats to be cut down and you gave a great safety tip regarding this at the end. Thanks again.

    Hello friend
    That was a really nice video! I stumbled across you and liked your intuitive point on cross draw for cowboy shooting. So I have a judge and purchased a leather holster from triple k thru Amazon, it is set up for both cross and hip draw. For the first time just now I set it up for cross draw and I think I like it! Now my judge isn't my ccw but what do you think about cross draw for ccw?

    Got a new Subscriber... I have lots of weapons, but just bought my first Cowboy SAA... Look forward to learning more about them here...I do have one question. I understand why people only load 5 rounds in a SAA when they are carrying for competition, personal defense, etc. Is there a problem loading up all 6 when you are at the Shooting Range? It seems silly for me to ask because I have been into guns for 20 years, but the SAA is new to me. Any advice?Good video and enjoy the way you teach.

    Also, I have a Marlin 30AS 30-30 lever action. Looks just like the 336. Would that make a good lever action for Cowboy Action shooting? I feel confident with all my other rifles, shotguns, and pistols, but anything related to Cowboy action is new to me... Ideas?

    Hi everyone I have a question. In fast draw the hammer must always be in it's resting position correct? If one starts with the hammer already pulled back would they be disqualified?
    Also in old west shootouts/showdowns, did people ever start with the hammer pulled back so all they would have to do is draw and shoot? Or did they draw, pull hammer, and shoot?

    • @pjamese3
      @pjamese3 Před 7 lety

      Do you know why the Ruger Vaquero over the Uberti? It seems like the Uberti is a more faithful replica (I'm referring mostly to the differences in load gate function and that "Colt-click."

    • @nono-xw6qd
      @nono-xw6qd Před 7 lety

      The Uberti/Cimarron/Perdersoli replicas are replicas to a fault. They are SO similar to the original colts that they even have the same issues, especially in breakage and wearing out of springs whereas the ruger which uses more modern spring systems is much more reliable. sometimes cowboy action or SASS shooters will run literally thousands of rounds in a weekend, and being in a match where your gun goes "click" instead of bang or just flat out jams up isn't a good thing. That's why rugers are more prevalent.
      I personally own several of both and love both, but have to admit for every few dozen breakages on the Uberti/Cimarron/Perdersoli's i will maybe have one on my rugers. they really are tanks.
      Plus, if someone uses their single actions for more than strictly SASS (as I do) the ruger can handle hot and heavy loads that will blow up the Uberti/Cimarron/Perdersoli's without any issue. they are just heavier built and more reliable overall.
      the Uberti/Cimarron/Perdersoli's are much more beautiful though IMO

    Not that I'm an expert on this (because I'm not) but it would seem to me that if you're going to make an instructional video on how to draw and shoot cross-draw, you'd at least have a cross-draw holster. But that's just me.

    I am a gun saftey fanatic. So I love this video.
    With that said, I think this host should have said upfront that he was practicing dry...meaning that his guns weren't loaded.
    And that's a great way to practice. But first, basic gun safety. Clear the gun once and then twice to make sure it isn't live.
    Maybe clear it three times. There is no limit to how far one should go with gun safety.
