Perfecting of that one gun. Incredible and priceless instruction. Top notch on the classic coach gun. Extremely well done and presented.
Obviously you've disabled the auto safety, probably cut a coil or two off the lever-opening spring, polished the bearing surfaces and extractor, and either polished or honed the chambers. Perhaps a video on the upgrades you've done to the gun would be appropriate.
Agreed hahaha
Everybody does that. That stuff goes without saying.
Oil the chambers.
Yes, a video on the upgrades you have done.
Whatever he did, seems he did it right, smooth as butter.
I really like your channel .You’re really articulate about explaining shooting situations. Especially for cowboy action. I appreciate all the help I can get.
wow your camera angles and slow mo and editing and skill hell everything is amazing
12:38 this man reloads faster than Doom guy
let's see him reload just as fast but with gloves on, which is what the Slayer (doomguy) is always wearing
Not sure why but i feel the video may have been sped up a little. I could be wrong though.
It isn’t, if you look at the shells getting flung out and falling, it looks natural with how fast it’s falling, and not as if they‘re unused and given wooden car weights
@@demogeymidge2997 watch his you tube videos of him shooting at events, he's FAST!!
You talking about Doomguy or Deadeye?
Coach guns to me are the ultimate practical shotgun. Nice and short in tight areas for urban operations, and powerful enough to stop any assailant in a single shot. I own a Stoeger Double Defense in 12 ga. and have been very interested lately in sharpening up my techniques as I recently discovered that there are many Cowboy Action groups down here in FL. Thanks Dead Eye!
Holds up great in court too, a jury will likely see you as a Normie. "Go out on to your porch and fire 2 blasts from a shotgun"- Current US president, circa 2021
Thank you for the amazing details of this shotting sequence.
That will increase the required skills of a such achievement.
Best regards from France.
As a new old woman getting involved in CAS, this was SOoooo appreciated! Thank you
You're the fastest guy I've ever seen shooting a double barrel....wow !!
You do the best CAS training videos on YT. Very well thought out, explained, and demonstrated
The tip on where your eye focuses when inserting shells was particularly helpful, I had been looking at the extractor and found this small change mad a big difference in hitting the reload!
Awesome! Glad it helps!
@@DeadEyeCowboyActionShooting Where do we go as a family to compete and practice with like minded people. We shoot regularly, clay pigeons and soda cans oh and the occasional pumpkin.
OH MAN, THIS STUFF IS COOL!
Looks like a heck’s good time.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video!
Excellent videos and training. Thanks
That is really amazing - thanks for the detailed instructions!
Fast as hell. Very impressive.
Simply outstanding tips. Thanks so much for being kind hearted enough to share your expertise. AND your videos are excellent.

Nice, very clean production. Well done video.
dang you!!!I am hooked but not enough of these great videos!!! The focus section OMG man awesome thank you
This is the one I've been waiting for. :) Good info. Thank you!
Always learning something new. Yes, I've been doing this for 20 years, but there's always room to improve. Thank you for helping me sharpen my technique!
This has application for personal defense SxS shotgun shooting as well. Great video!
Great video, like usual! Thank you.
Another helpful video. Thanks.
great tips. as a new CAS shooter I find the DB shotgun is where I make the most mistakes and I'll definitely work with these techniques because they make a lot of sense.
Thanks for the video!
I just purchased a Stoeger supreme nickle played double
barrel shotgun. Beautiful gun! These techniques will help a whole
lot. Now I just have to work on slicking it up. Being new and all,
it's really stiff to open.
Thanks again for the tips.
Stay safe and healthy.
Peace
Really enjoy your channel Dead Eye - half the fun is watching a master at work - lightening fast and effortless - MORE CONTENT PLEASE!:)
I just recently got a 20 ga double barrel cowboy version, appreciate the instructions, great job.

Great content! 👍❤️🙋🏻♀️
Excellent video And your and your technique is as well! Thanks for sharing!🤙🏼
Good points, was able to modify to accommodate to my arthritic hand structure for success. Thank you.
Wow. Just came across your channel. Great content. Well produced and really informative. The sport looks like a lot of fun.
Great tips!
I have said before that using a double barrel shotty is OK for Home Defense as long as you move, seek cover and reload while moving as it is the height of folly to stand put and fire whatever you are using continously as then you become a stationary target. You technique is invaluable. Good explanation on how to do it fast.
Great tips, thanks
Great help for a newbee. Thank you!
Excellent How To Video....Thank You.....
Mate absolutely fantastic
Brillant Video.
Awesome video TY for sharing
Great stuff.
Amazing SPEED & Skill !!
Awesome content buddy! Thanks for
I just started Cowboy Action Shooting so all your advice is very helpful. I aquired a 12 gauge side by side with exposed hammers so a tutorial with exposed hammers would also be appreciated.
im a 97 guy / but need to pickup my sxs again.
thanks for the video, deadeye
Hell, I'm getting a coach gun to get myself something that can teach me firearm basics safely and effectively. I just love them. Seems more than enough for a stopgap for home defense too.
Nicely Explained 👍👍👍
Good stuff.....
Great tutorial
Very helpful!
I watched this... then I tried these out for my double that I use for defence of the homestead... OMG speed came up well done ... watched it a few more times cheers thanks
Glad you like it but I wouldn't recommend my content for self defense use 😬
Great tutorial dead eye
Amazing technique. The best double barrel shotgun video ever. This technique can work with a over barrel shotgun? Thank you.
Really enjoying your content..Subbed
I learned a lot in this video. Like, a real lot. 👍🏻
Too smooth. Looking to try this technique. I pick up mine today.
Dam that was Kool !
more cowboy action vids Deadeye, best on CZcams bro lets get more!
Yours gun is really slick!
I chased a model 24 Winchester Coach gun for 4 years and 3 owner’s and when my turn in line came up I was damn proud to get it. Now a line has formed behind me.
This alot of help
Great content keep it up really helps with getting faster. I was wondering what shotgun you use?
Nice sir
THANKS THAT WILL HELP THANKS
Great video, Where did you get your ammo belt from?
Great video! Time to slick up my Stoeger
I'm just getting started in Cowboy Action shooting. This was a very helpful video. I've been looking for a shotgun shell belt like you were wearing. Can you tell me where you got it?
Thanks
Nice tutorial. Can you either do ro help me find a tutorial for a "show-off" reload, where you move your stock down, and let the barrels lock onto back with pure inertia? I've been trying to find it, but can't so far. Thank you, keep shooting. =)
OMG you are super fast !
Super!👍🏻❤️🇺🇸
How do you prepare the shotgun chambers before shooting the first stage (light oil, dry, something else), and similarly between stages?
How are you with a hammer gun? My double has outside hammers. I enjoyed the video btw. Very helpful.
Practice is the best medicine
This is a superb tutorial.
One slight disconnect I saw: the spoken tutorial mentions the butt stock going under the armpit which put the thumb in position to open the action.
The slow-motion shows the thumb starting to move the action level before the butt stock moves from the shooting position
I suspect the slow-motion to be the more accurate description, as it was taken in actual motion.
The thumb position will ultimately depend upon the physiology of the individual shooter.
In no way does this detract at all from this excellent tutorial.
Many thanks
The stock definitely drops but when I'm accurate with the top lever alot of the time it opens before I start to pull back with my weakhand. When something is sticky, like I hit the top lever wrong, driving the barrels back to the shoulder help to still open the top lever and break the action.
It's also hard to get across what something "feels" like at times. For me, when im shooting good, it feels like I'm really driving the shotgun into my thumb. That's the motion I want to feel so everything "times" good.
Can you comment on proper lenght of pull for this kind of shooting? (How to figure that out). I feel double barrels usually come with too long a stock for self defense or cowboy action shooting for the average man. I'm 5 7". Great video.
I'm a noob to the sport, just shot a match at my gun club last Saturday, 5 stages. It was fun, and difficult! I used a longer-barrelled side-by-side (loaned), and found it extremely difficult to load (older - 64 year old - fingers). But like I said, a noob. I am wondering whether I might be better off with a pump. I am somewhat familiar with my modern Remington 870, so it seems like there'd be less of a learning curve there. Is there an overall recommendation for beginners? Do most start with sxs and if so, why?
Thanks for an informative video, subbed!
Super
Reloading at a high-ready where your Barrel is still pointed at the Target you can with significant training have those extra two shells on hand and pull off four shots easily
Next do a tutorial on how to jump across a chasm with the meat hook while unloading the shells into the eye of a a Cacodemon!
“Dammit Bobby! Is that one from one of them god-dang vidja games??”
this is so much better than "load 2, shoot 2, miss 1, repeat"!
Great video Dead Eye. Where can I find a belt that holds side by side shells like that one? Thanks.
There's alot of good leather makers in our sport that make SxS belts but mine was made by Persimmon Dan. I believe his company is Murphy Leather.
@@DeadEyeCowboyActionShooting Thank you!
What tips would you have for a newbie to get geared up? What is it best to avoid regarding gear? Great vid. Thanks.
First recommendation is to get out to a few local matches to see what people are using. Most are very willing to tell ya all about their gear. What they like, what to avoid, and so on.
I would avoid buying anything before you've been to a few shoots. I seen some show up with guns that weren't legal to shoot or was a pain to use.
Let the shooters know your looking to gear up and I have no doubts they'll take care of ya!
Also if I might ask - after making the first shot and dropping the barrel do you leave the barrel on the first target and read your second target from left to right - to keep the eye from hunting the second target? What's the best Technique ?
Good video. Very informative. What kind of shotgun are you using. Thanks.
Thanks for watching! It's a Browning, straight stock, selectable barrel. Took me over a year to find one at a reasonable price!
Dead Eye I am fairly new to this sport, been doing it for a couple of years. Really enjoy it. I shoot with Judge Parker’s Marshall’s in Van Buren, Ar.
I was looking at some of your videos and I thought I saw you here. Where are you located. I have a Stoeger Shotgun, I am wanting to upgrade, would you recommend a Browning or a SKB, thank you and keep the videos coming. I like your videos because you explain them in a way everyone can understand. Tom Floyd
Yup, been there a couple times! Great range! Personally, I'm a Browning fan but more people probably shoot SKB's. Both will perform great when worked over properly. It'll really come down to the ergonomics for you. You'll know when you pick up the right one!
One shot one target, If you need more it's too late. People has been bird hunting with two shots for hundreds of years. If you had a musket you had only one shot. This 6-7 shots is silly. Your good at what you do and a very good instructor.
During the slow motion sequence where you identified your focal point, @ approx 4:35, I was looking at the chamfer that you have on your barrels and was curious about the depth of that chamfer. It was hard to determine from a stopped video image but looks like it extends all the way into the barrel also removing the ledge that the rim of the shell usually sits on. Obviously, the chamfer is not too deep or the shells would drop in too far to fire, but I was just curious if that was the case.
Thanks and keep up the good work,
Dogmeat Dad
Ledge is barely removed, just enough that if it was still there the rounds would it in the same spot. Getting the right angle allows this. Ledge kept on extractors for insurance, lol.
@@DeadEyeCowboyActionShooting Thanks, that is what I suspected, but hard to tell from the video. Since the chambers keep the shells properly aligned, all that is really needed is a positive stop to keep them from going in too far, which you achieve both with the chamfer and the extractor ledge. Other than polishing the chambers, and a few minor slick-ups, our shotguns are pretty much stock. I'm ready to chamfer the barrels some, but probably will just take it down until it just kisses the edge of the ledge. Maybe I am being over cautious but, in reality, in order for me to get to your level of speed, I would need to start with a fully stoked semi-auto, and even that would likely not be enough! lol
We are enjoying your videos. Thanks for posting them!
Hey mate. Is that belt custom made? I’m thinking of making one as I cannot find one with that double barrel twin shell holder style set up
Wow!😃
Rancho Roy here....As always, great video...Thanks Deuce Stevens suggested to me once that you can not have a shotgun stock too short. One time I accidentally grabbed my wife's double with a 12" LOP and used it. I was surprised how well I handled it. Haven't cut the stock on my SG yet....Comment??
I have to agree, my stock is pretty short. I experimented a few years ago cutting a little at a time and I noticed the handling got better and better. I did reach a point though where pointing would prove difficult if I went any further, stopped there and called it good.
When you break the gun open, are you pushing the stock down and holding the barrel, or, are you holding the stock and pushing the barrel down with your hand, or both?
very fast reload, but that blanket is SPECTACULAR
What revolvers or lever actions would you recommend
Good video. I shoot a double with exposed hammers. Would you do a vid for double with the exposed hammers.
I got a double to keep on display, for home defense, and went with the CZ Hammer so I can keep it loaded, closed, but still safe. (It's anchored).
Hard to see, but check out this guys method:
czcams.com/video/tN2UIbHAdjI/video.html&feature=emb_logo&ab_channel=PioneerArms
Once you get used to a situation where that adrenaline helps you reload that rifle or weapon and you shoot accurately and there's no looking back
Would be good if you made a DVD or USB stick with all your Cowboy Action Videos for purchase.
Do you feel comfortable with English stock? I have something similar to yours gun now but ... pistol grip probably is way to go for me ... or not ;)
What shotgun are you using if you don't mind me asking?
