I enjoy the presentation, the clear voice, no annoying music... just straight forward instruction. Perhaps ingrained in me to think like you “DO” as a self-taught automotive technician who took all 8 test and passed to become an ASE Master Tech in 1978.
If you anything current on vehicles since the early 90’s, I work with electronics, serial data communications, modules or nodes as a part of a much larger system.
Using a Fluke 87 type 5 for voltage, voltage drop, frequency is part of that. I see a common theme with static requiring discharging capacitors or transient stay voltage. I liked and subscribed and will be looking your videos as Dell laptops quit for no reason, even a Mac Air my son sent me quit by just simple but stupid. I cleaned the screen & keys w/ damp towel and stuck a key. Turned it on, all clean & pretty, to see the “PW” box fill up w/1 letter. Shut it off, fixed key and now won’t turn on even w/green LED on round magnetic charger cord.
Hey, These machines are stacking up like cordwood. Got 5 dead ones, but one works great but on XP PRO. So my son sends me an iPhone and I use the WiFi part, can’t afford the $20 each month for a plan, but I don’t go anywhere. Just a good job in the videos!
I hope to get one working because I am 6’3” tall & I can’t see how people use the tiny keyboards on phones. Turned 62 and some things are now a challenge. You never know.

@PC Monkey Thanks so much was driving my crazy trying to figure it out. Found another video of yours that led me to this video with my same ASUS Laptop with the CMOS battery underneath mother board. Took it out and went to sleep. Put CMOS battery back In. Put it all back together. It's back up and running and more efficient no less. Original issue was I put had my headphone jack scrape the USB port and it just went blank no power no nothing. I took the battery out and held power down. That got the power and charging back but not the laptop. Went to bed was tossing and turning went back to watching and reading forums online. I figured the bios reset with just letting it sit there while I sleep should do the trick. Boom! It did thanks to your help

Thanks for this video. I am your new subscriber. Well I need a solution for my ASUS X407UA Notebook PC with the problem of not being boot up but shows only power indicator. I have tried the hard reset by removing the battery and the power adapter, and press the power-on button for about 30 seconds. At first, I placed the battery back and then the moment I plugged in the power adapter it instantly boots up without pressing the power on button. I've updated its windows OS and all its driver thought it was drivers problem and shutdown it. It worked as normal as before the problem occurred. So I hoped the problem was fixed but it doesn't, when power on the pc it still not boots up, the same as at first. So I did the same procedure again but now I don't place the battery back, I just plugged in the power adapter and it immediately boots up as well in the same way. After shutdown, when press power on button it still not boot up. So I don't what is the problem. suggesting a solution for this would be very much appreciated.

Unlike your advice about just reinserting it at the end of 20 minutes, I will be just replacing it now. I had connected my laptop's cooling pad using a 9-volt and half-ampere adapter, but I wasn't paying attention and the cooling pad was also simultaneously connected to the laptop via the USB port. Now my laptop turns on, but the laptop screen shows no sign of being on. In your opinion, which part has been damaged by this simultaneous connection of the cooling pad adapter and the connection of the cooling pad via USB to the laptop?

      1. If the screen is black, what are the signs that the computer is actually turning on?

Hey, so I have an ASUS G75vx, been running Windows 10 the last 3+ years. Suddenly, when I try to restart, it shuts down only, and when it tries to enter sleep mode, or if I try to shut it down normally, the HDD light will shut off, but pwr light stays steady and I can hear it running(pwr light will blink, if in stand by) When it does that, I am unable to wake it back up, I have to force shut down. I have reformatted w/Windows 10 ( using the updates/recovery menu in settings) I have had no luck searching online, one post suggested to reset the BIOS and that's how I found this vid. I just tried the video 1 link in this description (trying w/o batt and w/o power cable) No change. I'm about to try this vid as well, but not sure I'm headed in the right direction. Do you have any other vids that might be helpful for me to figure out this issue? Other than these pwr mgmt issues, the laptop runs great. I also have a brand new battery in it, previously, I had no battery and had been using the laptop only thru the pwr cable. Thanks.

    Hi! I have a ASUS X540SA.
The battery doesn't charge. Few months ago I notice that my laptop start to not charge the battery. Furthure more from ~80% percentage it dropped to 0% battery in around 5-4 months. I used my laptop daily, noticing how the percentage decreased everyday.
If I leave the laptop overnight it decreased more. But when leave it plug the decrease stopped.
The charger is working I didn't notice anything wrong with it.
What's is worrying me is the sound that my hard drive is making when I shut down or put the laptop into sleep.
After I plug in the laptop, is turning on by it self. And after two seconds the hard drive is making that sound again. Like is shutting down. And after few second it starts to boot.
I opened my laptop but I didn't see any CMOS battery. I am planning to replace my hard drive with an SSD. But if I don't fix this problem, I think it will affect the SSD Do you have tips that I can try ?

I watched a couple of your videos. on startup it only goes to an automatic repair screen some of the time, when I try that it fails, the rest of the time. It’s looping to bios. The time and date keeps changing so I thought maybe that could be an issue.
In bios I noticed I can’t see the hard drive on the “storage” I’ve removed and replaced that and it came on, but then after a reset when time changed back it disappeared again. Connections are all ok. Maybe that’s damaged? Would that keep it from system restoring or starting in this manner? It has shown on and off different times it loops around to Bios

I’ve had an ASUS L510MA laptop for about 2.5 years now, so it is out of warranty. In the last few months the battery would not charge past 58%, then it was depleting slowly, and the laptop would not power on if just on the battery. It would still power on and function just fine with the adapter plugged in.
I ran a battery diagnostic tool and figured out it was the battery, so eventually I opened it up to see what kind of battery it needs and I got an aftermarket battery with the same specs.
I replaced the old battery with the new one, and now it does not turn on at all. The indicator LED does not illuminate when I plug the adapter in either.
I held the power button down for 1 minute without any battery, with the new battery, with the old battery, with the charger and without the charger various times, but it still does not turn on.
I checked the batteries and power adapter with a multimeter. The power adapter looks like it’s reading 17v when it should be 19, the old battery looks dead, and the new battery was around half charged.
After all of this, I tried to find the CMOS battery so I can reset the bios settings, which I’ve seen referenced online. However, it looks like this laptop does not have a CMOS battery, so maybe it just uses the regular battery for that function, but Im not 100% sure. Where can I go from here?
