FAQ's:
Q: Does this video apply to my issues?
A: This video is for computers with no signs of life that appear 'dead'. It will also help if you see minimal signs of life such as lights only or some hard drive / fan sounds but they stop right a way. If you are able to see anything on the screen at any point or if the hard drive / fan sound remain on, your issue could be something else. Leave me a message with your exact symptoms and I can direct you to the correct video :)
Q: I have tried all the steps seen here without identifying the issue :(
A: If, after trying all these steps multiple times, you have not been able to find the issue, your most likely looking at a faulty component preventing the motherboard from working or a motherboard issue. I would start troubleshooting each component, starting with the charger and power jack. You can see those two videos here; • How To Test your Lapto... & • How to Fix Test Your H... . You can also try replacing other components like your Power Button to see if that is the route cause. If none of those are the issue, you would then be left with a motherboard replacement.
Q: The computer will only turn on when the charger is plugged in.
A: If your computer will only turn on when the charger is plugged in after all these steps, then I would next try to replace the battery as its most likely bad. Let me know if you would like assistance finding a compatible battery replacement :) - Věda a technologie

I discovered your video today and it helped me to cross the finish line with an older laptop that all of a sudden was not booting up past an initial DOS-level screen. Big thank-you for creating this video. I had my laptop on, and went outside for a few hours to do some work. When I came back inside, my laptop was off. When I pushed the power button to try to turn it on, nothing happened. I wasn't sure if the battery had an issue or what. By performing the first couple of troubleshooting steps, I determined the power cord was not plugged into the laptop all the way, so the laptop ran the battery down while I was away. Once I had the power cord inserted all the way, I was able to turn it on. Once I put the battery back into the laptop and turned it back on, I could see the battery was at 1% charge. Another video I watched prior to this one, the guy skipped the first couple of troubleshooting steps, and was already opening up the laptop. This saved me from chasing the wrong problem.

Awesome video. Ive done all the troubleshooting I can but my computer still won't turn on. I have a MSI gt62vr 6re laptop with a 1070m. It worked two weeks ago, but now when I try and power it on, it just shows the light on the power button and nothing else. After roughly 20 to 30 seconds it turns back off. I've tried the whole static dissipation with and without the charger and battery, I've disconnected all external devices, I've inspected the board shy of taking it all out, and ive even connected it to an external monitor to see if there is any visuals. Not showing much signs of life besides the power button lighting up. It indicates that it is charging. Please help

Mine still not waking up 😢
1. Are there any signs of life at all when you try to turn it on? Lights? Fan, Motherboard, or Hard Drive sounds? Anything seen on the screen?
2. Also, did anything happen before this? Overheating, liquid spill, physical damage, Windows update, etc?
@@PC_Monkey mine too, when I press the power button the power led just lit a millisecond ang goes off. It has a overheating problem before because of the faulty fan but I already replaced it but the temp didn't change. And last month the the display port is suddenly not working but stays on power so I need to wiggle the display adapter a bit and display goes on. But yeah, yesterday while I am working on my powerpoint presentation, it suddenly goes off and it didnt open anymore😢
Also I changed the thermal paste right after when I change the fan
@@armadox9773 1. Changing the thermal paste and the fan did not solve the overheating issue?
2. Sounds like one of the issues is a loose LCD Cable. If you have to wiggle the computer for the display to stay on, I would first go into the computer and unplug the LCD cable at both ends. Then plug it back in and make sure its secure.
Hi! Tried all of your suggestions to my Toshiba Satellite L840: Static discharge (with and without the battery and charger several times), RAM check as well as the CMOS battery reset. But still, the unit does not start. Pressing the power button lights up the indicator but then turns off after 10 seconds. No other sign of life either e.g. fan noise, etc. Any thoughts on this?
If, after trying all these steps multiple times, you have not been able to find the issue, your most likely looking at a faulty component preventing the motherboard from working or a motherboard issue. Hey! I just found your channel and hopefully you can point me in the right direction. My ASUS windows 11 pc was working fine last night, but this morning I can't get the screen to come on at all. I can hear the fan running, no LEDs on the keyboard, keyboard backlight not on. I've rebooted multiple times without success. I do see power LED and another LED on the side.

My laptop has a fan sound constantly, but black screen on battery or plugged in. I was just using it, closed the monitor , then opened again and this issue presented. What should I try? Has internal battery.

Hey, I have Asus Tuf gaming laptop FX505D.I used my laptop up to last night and working. Like when I try turning it on the screen and keyboard would light up for a quick second but won’t come on. Do you think I should replace the battery or get it checked out for further issues?

I have a elite book 8440p it is an older laptop but has worked great with no problems until today. I went through the basic steps of removing the battery, adapter, etc and it will not power on. I did have an older compaq that would not power on unless the battery was operational while others will function just off the adapter no battery needed. I ordered a new one online and really hope this fixes the issue. Do you think that it could simply be a bad battery? Btw I like the video, it is very informative.
The computer should turn on with only the power adapter plugged in with most laptops. It may not be just a bad battery if the computer will not turn on even when the battery has been removed :(

I have been having this issue for a while where the gpu will randomly disappear while connected to an external monitor. I assumed it was just a glitch, but I recently restarted my computer and it blue screened. I did some tests in the support assist menu, and I noticed that the video thermistor values were super incorrect. It would go to -200 and then up to 120 (C) randomly, despite the computer being idle. How can I fix the video thermistor? Is there a way to re-calibrate it? Or do I just get a replacement unit/motherboard?

If the key is not physically working properly, its due to it being incorrectly installed / loose or a component of it is damaged. If you cant find any damage, try comparing it to another key. If you cant get it to work properly, you may have to replace it

I'm trying to fix my school laptop because it randomly started turning off and one time it was updating and the laptop just turned off.
This is probably a battery issue but I'm not sure because I can't open my laptop because it's not "mine" (that's what my parents told me). Should I keep trying to fix it or should I just send it to my school so that they can try to fix it?
Im afraid the choice of trying to fix it or giving it to the school is yours. If you would like to DIY it, the steps are seen here in this video. If your not able to do that, I guess you would have to return the computer to the school

Lenovo thinkpad t510, the lights flash for about half a second then no lights at all. It got water i side it i have dried it for a day and it has been doing this since im thinking that smthg got shorted but im not sure
1. Sounds like your on the correct video. Have you tried the steps seen here?
2. After a liquid spill, you want to first make sure the computer is 100% dry. You would turn your computer off immediately by pressing and holding the power button until the computer turns off. Then you would disassemble the computer as much as your comfortable with, at least trying to remove the bottom case. Then you would turn it on its side and let dry for a couple days. Be aware that liquid could damage components even when the computer is off and may have done so before it was dried. If so, there could be multiple boards / components that are damaged which would make troubleshooting difficult.
