It sounds like a very strange saxophone (upd: and very high intonation, it's apparently very hard to play something near to in-tune) but in your hands it goes beautifully over blues

Will it Play needs a series of vids where you try to make things into reeds.
Oh man that'd be rough...
I cut the plastic from one of those reed cases into the shape of a reed. Yes, it did "play", but it was very buzzy and so flat that it wasn't even close to the right note.
Been quite a while since we've seen one of these. I feel like this is not the first time you've reinvented the clarinet. (Single reed + cylindrical bore = clarinet), but I could be remembering wrong. (If you did do something like this once already I probably already said) it shouldn't play all the notes without drilling some more holes in the bore, though maybe you can fake some of them with the trill keys, the foot keys, and maybe by using your lungs and vocal tract as an upstream resonator to change what note comes out when the downstream resonator doesn't want to give you the note; (you're the sax player, not me; Benade writes that is the way reed players manage to get "impossible" high notes and glisses and things, notes "not on the instrument"; I only know what I read about it.) Cheers.
I'm definitely using false fingerings/lipping notes to try to get a full octave here...that's what I do for all the "will it play" videos - I try my hardest to make actual music from a Frankenstein-created instrument!

Cool! What Key did it end up being in? The alto flute is in G if I recall. It reminded me of the tonal quality of Roland Kirk's work on Manzello. Speaking of whom he played C-flute and sax AT THE SAME TIME on occasion!

Can somebody explain what he did
I took the neck/mouthpiece/reed/ligature from an alto sax, put painter's tape on the end of it, and fit it onto the body and foot joint of an alto flute. Then I played "Sonnymoon For Two" in concert F major. Welcome to "Will it Play"!
