Those below ground vaults are quite the thing, a very unique style. The stained glass on the above ground ones doesn't disappoint either. Thumbs up for sure on this one.

I personally like the oval photos on the graves. It's nice to put a face with the name.

Beautiful cemetery. The family mausoleums and vaults are fascinating, they have a character all their own. I do not believe that you see anything like that in cemeteries these days. On a side note, being a parent, there is nothing as sad as a child's grave. 😢 Great walking tour Tony, thank you very much. Have a great weekend. 😊

The graves with the "sliding" stones look like they were fashioned in the same way as many graves in Italy.

I'm amazed at how well all those photos hold up under that intense CA sun. Also you don't often see any earthquake damage to these mausoleums which surpries me as well.

My local Rock of Ages monument company uses a company named Paradise from Chico CA to make monument photos. The must make a photo print and attach it to a metal backing then apply something with a clear coating. What ever it is it is like glass. One I am having made ordered Thursday 11" X 14" cost about $1700 installed. It is a colored photo. B & W is cheaper.

Wow, those 2 Canepa pictures look both like men. Falcone. That's-a mafia! Butchers were necessary and very useful to the family.
It would be interesting to see how these in-ground tombs were constructed.

I hear those below ground ones are set up similar to the above ground multi person ones.

@@CryptDoor I wonder if there are just shelves or maybe they also seal them up like in a regular mausoleum?
Might even be like the royal tombs in England and they just stack 'em?

I don't care for strolling around cemeteries or graveyards because I always feel like I'm going to fall into a nasty hole. I grew up next to a very old family graveyard and it really creeped me out as a kid. the church still has a thing for horses I believe that's what it was for. there may be 100 people possibly more buried there I never counted them. as for how old I want to say late 18th century about, but don't hold me to that I can't rightly remember. the old local churches are being torn down over time for their stone I guess. the graveyards are often left as is it seems. bit of a shame.
