Suriname Dschungeldoktor trifft Shamane- Bushdoctor meets Shaman

German documentary (ARD/SWR) about Suriname, seen through the eyes of Edje Doekoe, bushdoctor and Rastafari. Edje Doekoe struggles to preserve the beautiful nature of Suriname in order to make use of the medicine wealth of the jungle. In his village Pikin Slee he's still able to find the necessary herbs, but the sound of the chains are already close and some rivers and creeks are poluted by goldmining activities...
The movie shows also the beauty and diveristy of the country and the people from various etnic backgrounds who live peacefully together, trying to maintain acient cultures and on the same time create a modern society.
