  • You can get better colorization results from your Thumb Pro or any other action camera if you do it in POST using color grading. Yes, footage comes out fine with most action cameras set to auto-exposure and auto-color, but even better results can be achieved using a few manual steps.

Thanks. Many videos make grading overly complicated. I tried to keep it simple for what most of us need to do.

Dude!!! It's like I think it, and the next day there is a video waiting for me explaining the best way for me to do the very thing I had wondered about :) :) :).
I bookmarked this one as I think I'm going to be referring to it a lot in the future.
Thank you so much for doing this video, I've only watched it once so far and I like it bettter than any other grading video I have ever seen.
I am glad you use Davinci too, bonus points
    So excellent!!!! 👍

Capturing in full manual has its drawbacks as people like me fly in Sun as often as in shade in the same clip. I really don't want to dice the footage up to correct smaller clips, so what I'm saying is AUTO has it's advantages. What got me motivated was my Rice County garden video I did in the shade where the footage came out a bit flat. I've since tried this node-string approach and the footage magically came to life, so I shared it as there is little out there for FPVers to learn from other FPVers. I hope it works for you. It's just a start though ... there are many things I've yet to figure out, like juicing up the sky without wrecking everything else.

@@TommyTester I'm mostly gonna stick with auto. If I'm ever planning on cutting up the video for clips, then I may do manual.
I was motivated to upgrade my low light capabilities and now I am waiting for another new gopro bones in the mail as gopro has accepted my warranty claim. :) But now my low light footage looks much better.
Improvement is the mother of upgrades :) eh, doesn't quite work, but there is an adage in that somewhere.
I think what you have is a great start, I like working with the nodes and having all the changes split up like that makes it visually easier to keep track of. Very cool.
Your footage is certainly looking even more poppier :) though a bit darker under the balcony, not seeing the exposure shift is better imho. on the mavic 3 there is exposure lock feature. I would like that feature worked into betaflight/action cams.
I really want to understand and get better at color grading, even if it's something I won't do often. But that feels like something that is going to take time and experience for me to get better with. And I have this 3d printer I want to figure out and $ to be made and my FPV hobby/business to enjoy/ruin LOL
The last time I was bored was when I was 22yo and sitting in a jail cell.
Since then I haven't ever had time to be bored, and now, thanks to FPV, I know for a FACT that I will never be bored again ;)

I think it was Einstein who said “if you can’t explain something simply then you simply don’t understand it enough” or words to that effect 👍 you know your craft it would seem ✊😎
