I'm a big fan of Joe Bonamassa and I'm not afraid to admit it. Saw him live and it was mind blowing!!
Same! Just saw him live and hands down one of the best concerts I’ve seen. He’s a classy dude.
He is a phenomenal player. I try to cop his solos. About 5 seconds is months of practice for me
Sad that we that we are so concerned with what others might do to our opinions that we feel the need to say “… and I am not afraid to say it …”! Not because we are thin-skinned, but because we get pilloried by others’ opinions - which are so much “righter” than ours 😅!
Speak your truth and disregard the “foolish and senseless arguments …”. 😊🎸👨🏼⚕️

It's the energy he puts into his live shows.
Bonnamass’s guitar playing speaks for itself. But I’m also a big fan of his singing voice. He can really deliver with guts and drive. He’s a throw back talent to the good old days.
I'm a fan too.The group he is closest too stylistically is the late 60's British rock group 'Free'. He sings like Paul Rodgers, and has mentioned that the guitarist Paul Kossoff is one of his main influences.
Joe Bonamassa doesn’t need to excuse himself. He’s an amazing guitarist, and he’s real and honest.

As a native Utica New Yorker like Joe it's fun to hear him mention Big Apple Music and Camelot Records which was in the sangertown square mall! I bought many records there and a few guitars at Big Apple. I saw Joe play for the first time with bloodline at the fireworks over central New York I think in 93, he played the white room solo behind his head!
That’s weird I just bought a guitar on reverb from them (I’d never heard of them I live I. Another state) but it came last week and now I’m seeing a reference to that store. Weird

The thought that JB is opinionated or polarizing never ever crossed my mind! I can listen to him wax poetic all day! In fact, I was introduced to him speaking of Gtr Safari before I heard him play!

Hi Joe, wonderful interview. From one player to another, I always get a kick out of your depth of interest and expeience with all things that go with the artists and the art of music.. The maestro chorus/leslie pedal? You had to be there to know that stuff! Speaking of all things Joe, Joe Bonamassa always surprises me. As a professional musician he has to be at least 20 years younger (than our viintage;-), but hearing him relate his journey playing and instruments, he's definitey a brother from a different mother right? I actually had to pause th einterview and watch his Royal Albert Hall performance with Eric Clapton again! Anyhow, you make it look easy with every amazing interview. Thanks for being so great. Omgosh I’ve been aware of JB for only a couple of weeks now. Being able to know about the man behind the greatest sound I’ve heard in my 65 years is awesome! Personally what first attracted me was his look on stage. He’s so damn cool and sexy when playing. Omg his ability to make that guitar sing makes me a huge fan. I discovered him here on CZcams and I just keep listening and gets better each time! Luv ya JB 😎🤩

Mr Bonamassa made me cry this morning, when he brought back his memories of a distant day in his childhood, and the first time he saw an electric guitar. I remember my first day also, and the same feeling, the same need of being a part of that world, somehow. Here I am, 67 years old. By my side, my acoustic guitar ( an old, USA made epiphone DR-500). "Just me and my guitar". And the memory of that day, with my mother in downtown Rio de Janeiro, in the 60ies, when I saw a guitar for the first time in my life. I really thank you guys very much indeed. Thank you, gentlemen. I'll never forget this morning.

I always wanted a Lincoln Mark IV, finally bought one in 1988. Oh I loved it. However, it got 6mpg in town, & a whopping 11 mpg on the highway.(I'd forgotten where I grew up, gas was 35c a gallon) After continually running out of gas, I understood why it had a 25.5 gallon gas tank. My 1st guitar was bought for me on my 7th birthday. Mom & I went to TG&Y, (They used to be a 5 & dime store). It cost $5!!! One fellow here on YT was berating less expensive guitars. Claiming he only played Les Pauls. I told him I've had Kay, Harmony, Silvertone, Egmunds (still $5 @ Woolco when I was in HS), Yamaha, & a thousand other brands I can't remember. I just bought my 7 yr old Granddaughter a Lyx Pro electric with an amp. Both Pink! She & Papa set it up "professional". I replaced the tuners ($12) did a fret job, adjusted the action etc. She's thrilled, plus I put 9s on it. It's 3/4 size but she's learned G A & B, so far. Video games are a top priority for her. But I wanted her to be able to play it. So far so good. Her aunty told her to let Papa teach her. (My baby ordered "Custom Picks" with her & guitar on them. (Naturally Papa got them. We're waiting for them now.) BTW my 1st car was a 1968 Ford Falcon, 190, 3 on the tree, 22 mpg in town.(I wish I still had that car!)

Hi Edgar... thanks for supporting our guitar shops. We had one in Franklin/Cool Springs and Bowling Green , Kentucky too. I kinda miss those days too. It kept me on the road too much but I enjoyed it until I decided to build the museum. Then I rarely went by them anymore. I closed all but the Murfressboro store soon after the museum opened and finally the Murfressboro store around 2013
I think. I might should’ve kept it ... guitar sales in 2020 broke records for Fender and from what I hear most every company. The problem is getting orders filled. The only good think I know about due to Covid 19. People staying home took up guitar. Best, Joe
Can't believe it took me almost a year to get around to watching this episode, always good stuff! I must admit I did not realize Manny's was that old I actually thought is was owned by Manny Charlton lol, and on the Beatles you cant forget about the Epiphone Casino.
Thanks Joe, and Joe B! Too! Great interview. I just saw Joe play at Jones Beach Theater a couple of days ago. He had Jason Bonham open, Kenny Wayne Sheppard second open, and then Joe played for over 2 hours. So 4 hours of intense jamming. Amazing. In this interview, I liked seeing both of you admire each other for what you do for the history of it all. I'm just a small potatoes collector, with a few dozen vintage axes, and lots of gear. I have my friends come over and jam all the time. I am looking forward to coming down to check out MHOF as soon as I can get there. Thoroughly enjoyed the discussion you both had.
I enjoy these so much. I’m not a player but worked in a music store when in high school in 71/72. I learned who to listen to by flipping the LP and finding out who played on the song then digging thru everything else looking for those session guys and just going thru the family tree so to speak after a little guidance from older guys in mid late 60s. I learned about blues and jazz from those guys and forgot about pop completely so to speak. This was a great interview.
What a gorgeous artist! My background is flamenco and infused styles but a true artist is impossible to kiss! Cheers Mr. Joe! You’re an inspiration

Nylon string classical guitars are severely underrated as a starter instrument. Discomfort instead of outright pain, affordable without being junky. Still have my Raven that I got in 1977, thanks to a music store owner like Joe Chambers, who gave my parents a stupid deal on a nearly new guitar that he said was one of his “rentals”.

Excellent interview. Really enjoyed listening. What Joe was saying about selling nostalgia - I think it goes beyond that as you are really preserving history. That is an important and notable endeavor. The journey is every bit as important as the destination.
Agree it is interesting how times have changed. We can do so much now on the internet. Still there is no substitute for actually holding an instrument and hearing the sound of it in real life. Would certainly be one of my criteria before investing in one.

PS: I was a working engineer and gtr player in NYC through the 70s & 80s! Manny’s, Sam Ash, Rudy’s was like Mecca to every musician in the North East!

What a great interview with JB!! I just saw him in concert last Saturday at the MGM casino and theater in Maryland. What a spectacular night of music!! Last show of the US tour. I think the UK is next??
WOW!!!! I had no idea that this place existed and just 3 years ago, I was traveling to Nashville a couple times a month or more to work north of the city!! It wasn't a total waste as I got to spend a 1/2 hour or so talking vintage guitars with George Gruhn on one of 4 or 5 visits to his shop. Anyway, I feel a road trip is coming on!! Visit the Hall one day and Guitar George the other day. What a great weekend this will be!!!

@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum My first guitar was a $20 acoustic Stella bought from a Sears & Roebuck Catalog when I was @ ten years old. A few months later my Dad took me to a pawnshop to get my first electric. I had $100 saved up and picked out a 4 pickup chrome covered 100 pound Japanese no name something with barbed wire for strings that fit my budget (this was before the Japanese began making high quality products). My Dad looked at it and then and spoke with the pawn shop owner and then picked out a used 1957 Strat in great condition with case included for $250. My Dad knew nothing about guitars but said if you're going to play you need a real instrument and not a toy. I told him I couldn't afford it and he told me I could pay him back when I had the money. He never asked me to pay him back and I forgot I owed it to him! He was the best Dad in the Universe married to the best Mom.... Thanks Joe for all you do.

I got to see Joe in around 2010-2011 in Fort Wayne Indiana. It was incredible!! I still have the guitar pick I got from that concert!!!

I used to not know who Joe was. I became aware of him because of the incessant You Tube ads. I was like “who in the blue hell is Joe Bonamassa?”
Well, the dude can play his ass off. I’m a fan now. Who am I to deny this guy when BB, Clapton, and EJ have signed off on him?
My first guitar played 'like a truck'. An acoustic Carlos with realy high action. I somehow pushed myself to learn barre chords on it.

does anyone know why he and Trucks don't play together much? other than the Gibbons tribute, I can't find anything. also not sure why Clapton never had him at the Crossroads events. Gilmour, Knopfler, Emmanuel were never there either.
