Mitch Mitchell was an outstanding drummer.
So good that even though he was the drummer to the greatest guitarist of all time you can lose yourself in the drumming. Phenomenal drummer.
Agreeeed !!!
Definitely. Of the music I've heard of Jimi, I don't think there was a drummer that worked as well with him as Mitch.
Yes, Mitch was a badass drummer. He was also a great addition to 'The Dirty Mac' at the Rolling Stones' Rock and Roll Circus. Lennon on lead vocal and rhythm guitar, Clapton on lead guitar, Richards on bass and Mitch on the skins! Talk about a supergroup. 👍
Incredible. One of the best of his time or of any time. Fantastic drummer. Noel was a guitar player from what I understand. But I wouldn't call him an ameteur. He knew his stuff. If I were in a band with Jimi Hendrix, I wouldn't want to play guitar. Bass would be nice. I could slip into a nice pocket and let Jimi do his thing. I could add to the music by providing the groove and doing that well without trying to compete with Jimi.
He certainly enriched my time on this planet,
"If I don't see you no more in this world, I'll see you in the next one,
And don't be late ."
"I'll meet you on the next one .."
I'm running late and out of time but I'll bring my guitar Jimi and you'll laugh at my crime😮
Jimi was way ahead of his time!
This lyric is why Hendrix is above everyone else
Saw Jimi Hendrix on my 14th birthday 6-22-69 at Newport Pop Festival in Granda Hills Ca. Made me a musician for life!
that is awesome!
Hey, shout out to you from Granada Hills!
That really is cool as shit!
I was there too. what a weekend.... this was before woodstock mind you
YOU WERE BLESSED
“He had feathers on! He was terrifying!!”
Sorry. Didn't know you already quoted the best line from the best HS montage about the best guitarist.
Joe Walsh is always great. Music, or any story.
Love hearing all these legends Stories about Jimi
Satriani had the best description and breakdown of Hendrix's playing.
Those licks were badass
True.
Satch is one of the greats himself
I saw Jimi in 1969 at the V.I.P. Club in my hometown of Tucson, Arizona. What a show!
Unbelievable
I am a Hendrix fan for Life. I studied Jimmi's music and licks for 30 years now. He will always be the GOAT. To me the only guitarist to hold a flame to the GOAT was SRV. When Joe Walsh said he couldn't figure Jimmi out because he's guitar was backwards including the strings is NOT TRUE. If you look at the GOAT playing, his low E string is on the top. If he played backwards, the low E would be at the bottom. I thought this for years and started playing lefty with low E on the bottom. I haven't changed since. Jimmi was a showman and what better effect than playing upsidedown and backwards, and inside out. He will forever be the ultimate champ, guitar hero. ✌️❤️🤗🇵🇸
Love the Hendrix stories.
There’s no words… well there are. Jimi was and will forever be the greatest guitarist.
And a screaming eagle 101er
A real combat rocknroller😮
No doubt. Pure genius!!
He played with joy and a free heart!
i could listen to a year of this. . .
This was awesome you can see how much Howard wished he met Jimi.
"He had feathers on. It was terrifying!" Joe Walsh describing Jimi.
Imagining the Jimi Hendrix Experience with Stephen Stills on bass … WOW!!!
I have a couple of bootleg tapes, that feature Stills playing bass in the studio with Jimi, and also with Johnny Winter! Stills occasionally did jam at the Scene Club, with Jimi, in 1968. What Stills will not admit to, is that in 1970, at Island Studios in London, he asked Jimi to contribute some guitar on Steve's solo album....but he then decided to erase Jimi's efforts!
One of the latter albums put together by the estate has Hendrix on bass and Stills on organ doing the song Woodstock.
Dream combo... Even better with McCartney.
One of the best Stern show, clips and recent years!!💯👍🏼🌌💫
Loved everyone’s experience with Jimi 🎸
You have the genius of the PLAYING…which people emulate and copy. Then you have the true genius of the creativity. All the greats….its one thing to learn the licks and riffs. It’s another to come up with them. Hendrix and Eddie are the game changers in my opinion. Just devastating in every way.
I would include SRV in that trio of the greatest! Stevie was just a monster on guitar.
@@curbozerboomer1773 Yep he sure was, though he flew on Jimi's wings.
@@curbozerboomer1773SRV was SO influenced by Jimi & Albert King that I think he had yet to really find his own complete voice, where the sounds are synthesized. He was obviously a great guitarist, but I think he had yet to shed completely his influences.
Jimi is amazing!
What a legend
Great collection of artists. Bravo, Howard!
So there goes Jimi's Inspiration about shows : He followed Johnny Hallyday in France for a tour, at the time Johnny was rolling on stage and going into frenzy during his act, and then he saw Pete Townsend smash the amps, and here you go. The Chittlin circuit had given his the idea of playing under his leg, with teeth and behind your back. All this to give a Wonderfull act from an outstanding musician to glow some more.
This is awesome on so many levels
Hendrix was phenomenal these stories r fun
JH my hero.
I've listened to his music for years.
Every time, it amazes me.
Great homage to Hendrix. Howard is obviously obsessed with his music
This made my lunch break much better. Keep documenting history!
Jimi playing Risk on acid is incredible haha
Wish I was alive to watch you play . It’s a couple artist on my bucket lists YOLO
Chris Squire has a great interview about the first time he saw Hendrix.
this is a great compilation` ...really shows the Mega Intensity of these famous artists and their early reactions to Hendrix
love when he interviews bands on their stage. ready to go !
These stories are priceless!!! Great post!!!!
Hendrix = GOAT
No SHIT !!!
Duh
What a show Joe Walsh talks bout ...James Gang. Sly and the Family Stone aaaannd The Jimi Hendrix Experience
That sort of concert bill was common at the time. Some shows I saw: 1) Hendrix, Vanilla Fudge, Soft Machine 2) Frank Zappa, Johnny Winter, Mountain and a fourth band I have forgotten 3) Simon and Garfunkle, Lovin' Spoonful. Tickets for these shows were $6 or so.
I really enjoyed this....i could listen to rock n roll stories for days , fascinated by the subject in general , not just a certain artist. Thanks howard.
That was great! Thank you
Absolutely love these honest clips. Such gems!
I notice one of the things that make Stern a successful interviewer is that he's also coming from a fan's perspective. He asks the questions that most people would want to ask given the opportunity
the best forever
Since I discovered Hendrix in the 7th grade, I was sure I chose to be on this planet just for the music scene
Howard's greatest strength is he is the best interviewer alive. There should be a full collection of his musical interviews.
Those are really great stories and recounts. Very cool.
Thanks for this Howard & Co.
Awesome compilation!
Legend, Jimi Hendrix
Joe Walsh is awesome.
So great to see him so clear and healthy.
And a better player than hendrix imo
Walsh has the most recognizable playing.
Awesome guitarist.
@@kevinryan7669not even close!!
Ringo Starr’s brother in law too. Not many people know that!
Mitch Mitchell is a great drummer
Great Idea for a compilation
May his memory be a blessing.
Hendrix did not play all the instruments on his albums. It was Noel on Bass and Mitch on Drums for the first two albums. Also, Hendrix did not burn a Guitar at Woodstock.
Were you there?
Jimi did play bass in the studio on a lot of tracks
@@valentinarmenta4982 That is not the point...his guitar burning episodes were documented very well...no episodes of that, after 1967.
How could Hendrix leave us so soon?
and Janis too..
E.m.t. incompetence?
He was only here on a short visitors visa, to blow our minds
@@sheldonscott4037apparently Hendrix was well past any hope of resuscitation when paramedics arrived.
@@TheAnxietyCloset There were no actual "paramedics" in London, in 1970! Just ambulance attendants, with marginal training.
This was awesome !
Jimi used to do the best Little Richard impressions on the planet.
I wish I could have seen them😂
Me 2!
I LOVE hearing Mitch & Jimi, goof on Elvis.
We REALly missed-out guyz. Da memberz of JHE, & Band of Gypsyz, were all XTREMELY talented. We only got 2 c a lil glimpse.
SMH
Jimi Hendrix playing risk on acid: not what I was expecting, but can't say I'm surprised 😂😂
THANK YOU!!! Howard Stern and Jimi Hendrix!
Absolute GOLD💛‼These stories (though short) of Jimi are. Really different time.
jimi loved to jam
These new montage videos of so many different perspectives are absolutely next level. Great works!
Priceless Thanks Howard
The consensus opinion about Jimi other than he was a great guitarist. How nice of a person he was.
A few of his lady friends would disagree with you!
@@curbozerboomer1773 I'm sure that could apply to a lot of famous musicians.
Howard's sound engineers are awesome
He was a free spirit! ❤
LOVED THIS!
Great stories and insight
I love that custom Ibanez Joe Satriani has
Axis bold as love ❤️ still the greatest; still have it on CD. Wish I had it on ‘vinyl’ if not purely for collectors purposes ❤
love jimi song "HEY JOE"™!!
Jimi played bass on the second half or so of Electric Lady Land.
Wow, how cool!!! 😎
Beautiful ❤
Supposedly Jimi said that Billy Gibbons was one of his favorite guitarists.
Yep!
Awesome segment
... Rip Jimi Hendrix
What a time to be alive…
Stephen Stills did collab with Jimi Hendrix. Jimi Hendrix is on Stephen Stills debut solo studio album. There's also the 2018 Jimi Hendrix album "Both sides of the Sky".
Hendrix playing in NEWCASTLE at the CAFE A GO-GO was manager Mike JEFFREY's club with STING🐝 in attendance.
Great Interview
amazing stuff, loved hearing these stories and all the accolades
He didn't burn his guitar at woodstock.
THSS 💯👍🏾pod this WORLD 🌍 CLASS listening to ALL those Legends talking about JIMI HENDRIX. HOWARD thank you 💯🇳🇿🥝👍🏾 Brilliant podcast
"Sh!t" - Miles Davis when he saw Jimi play
Good show Howard.😎
really nice comp...excellent
Cool topic; great job. That was lots of fun.
Good ones.
way cool thanks// Peace and Love Rock on Brother
Howard is still pretty amazing...
Ahhh! So,Hendrix only humped the amplifier because it was necessary for achieving the sound that he desired. And I always thought he performed that act for the optical effect! …silly me!
I can’t listen to Jesse Ventura without hearing Will Sasso’s impression
Very interesting what Daltrey said about him maybe becoming a jazz poet.
I read somewhere that Jimi was going to collaborate with Miles Davis. Sadly, Jimi died before this came to fruition.
@@waynej2608Davis wanted 💲60,000 upfront & Hendrix's management so NO❗Paul McCartney was also gonna b in the group as well as SLY STONES' horn section.
@@waynej2608It didn't happen because miles wanted $10K up front.
70's for him would have been full of jazz, funk, blues and all sorts of fusions most definitely.
Easily the best story Paul has ever told about The Bag of Nails.
Hendrix restrung for left hander. Joe Walsh is wrong
He would have invented a new kind of jazz.
Howard has some great interviews.
awesome...
Thx so much for this thx y.t.
Jesse Ventura is referring to Band of Gypsies; i.e. Jimi's band after Experience.
But the concert he's referring to was not the band of gypsies. It was hendrix cox and mitchell
@@bartrobinson2103CRY OF LOVE TOUR beginning in April 1970.
Thanks Howard! Jimi was the best. So are you! :)
Joe explained hendrix perfectly.
He rewrote the book for electric guitar
