Morning post from Sorin, handy work distraction
Hi professor, I really tank's for your videos, you are a best
The week has 7 days (even if the first one starts wrong). Thanks for sharing. All the best.
I appreciate your knowledge Sorin. But i must disappoint you. I saw exactly the same behavior on my thermal cam on the chipset, the laptop had a picture and was working. It was a Clevo 7th gen Intel board which could not charge the battery correctly and could not work on ac charger alone. The fault was a partially burnt 0603 2.2 ohm resistor in the charging ic section, and i replaced the charger ic in any case, too. This did not solve my problem. At the end my thermal cam revealed the fault, and it was a cold solder joint on ac charger jack on the motherboard. After resoldering all pins, the problem was solved. Laptop charges battery correct, works without battery, does not turn off under load. I went away from the topic. This theory with the pulsing chipset die is not very reliable. This chipset on that board that i mentioned behaved pretty the same like on your board. So, it could be a waste of money and time to replace the chip. People regular jump first to external bios flash. Which is not that wrong. But in many cases not the problem. In your case, hard to say where the problem lies. You can suspect the graphics chip, too. I read randomly a few comments, and someone mentioned that you said the owner tried already externally if a picture is present. So my guess, the graphics chip. But to be real the diagnose process is very hard, and all is a guessing.
I swear the trick to laptop repair is to start every job saying "ur a nice laptop"
*Let's go Sorin! :)*
I want that terman camera !!!
If the laptop has an external hdmi/displayport, connect it to an external monitor, and/or disconnect the internal monitor cable. If it has an IGPU and a dedicated GPU, like a lot of laptops do, it will actually often boot from an external display if there is a problem with the igpu or the internal display.
@@robertoruiz7069 he said the customer tried 3 different monitors
hello mi frend lov ur work, supatanx
Can you make a full course video on how to troubleshoot laptop board until the last piece
i cant believe, is it a dancing school or a electronic repair one! time to gamble ^^ huh? love ya :)
I recently had a similar fault after changing RAM timings on bios on my acer laptop, doing this cmos short didn't reset any bios settings in my case, even after leaving the board without any batteries for like 2 days. After that i was able to reflash the factory bios with correct .FD file name and usb stick (fn+esc+power button) and it came back to life, so i don't think the bios battery stores anything other than time probably because of security reasons, not sure though.
You didn't mention what laptop model you are talking about
Are there resistors and caps to test on the chip set? Maybe test them? Who knows, maybe that will fix it.
I had a Nitro 5 come in a couple days ago; the Chipset kept overheating. The customer complained that all was fine until instantly one day it just started chugging like the GPU went or the SSD went bad. However, all of it was an overheating SB Chip. I would bet, if it kept being used, we would have arrived at this same issue, a dead SB Chipset.
So, how did you fix it? Swapped out the chipset?
@@englishrupe01 I didn't, as he said, nobody is selling chipsets. Those that may be, you can't trust. :(
@@DennisCrouse Ah, darn...that's a shame. Waste of a nice looking laptop. You'd think they could be shamed into selling them these days, to cut down on e-waste in landfills. It's all about corporate greed, i guess. I am still using my old Dell laptop from 2012 as my main machine....runs great on Linux Mint, and still no issues after 11 years.
very cool
I have a Acer Nitro with basically the same issue here, first a BUC converter had a short near the ssd at the bottom, replaced it, now get the same issue as you show, correct voltages on board and ram, and that same chip getting hot under thermal cam.
Use a graphene pad on the cpu and gpu and a laptop cooler.
@@DoubtingThomas333 how will this fix the issue? CPU and GPU arnt even getting warm..did you watch the video? Especially from 14 mins onwards?
I have the same laptop, doing the exact same thing. Finding out that the mfg won't sell or repair the chipset is more than enough for me to never buy another Acer product again. Certainly won't recommend them either.
what s the resistance value on the chipset coil with the ground ?? CAN U SHARE VALUE?🙏
gaming laptop master lets go
Hello Mr Sorin.
Can you tell me which reference and where you purchased the universal plugs including cord for connecting the different brands of laptops to their power input port. I see that you have a special plug for DELL, HP, ACER, etc. Please return your answer. Best regards and thans in advance. Andy
Amazon
@@englishrupe01 Thanks. But what is the reference number or what is the exact name of the plug set? Thanks in advance. Andy
its early for a chrtismass rgb light!
From my experience the PCH behaviour is normal and does not confirm a issue.
Hi, beginner's question, what's the configuration of the hot hair when working with laptops?
@fritzsander: It depends on the type of electronic component; but it's good practice to start with 350C and 30 airflow. Experiment with damaged or unrepairable PCBs (printed circuit boards). It records the size of the component, the temperature used and the time taken to remove it. Then move on to the complex jobs, ie removing components near where there is any plastic material (try not to melt it by protecting it in advance). Another way of saying it, practice makes perfect.
It's dreadfully sad 😢 situation
I thought the first thing to check would be ram. (?)
Sorin, I love watching you, but please stop spoiling the issue in the title or thumbnail:(
Hey master sorin.. What about DDR4 2.5V??
vpp voltage
So was it fixed?
Can you salvage a good chipset of another mother board, from the same make and model laptop, that has become a donor board
He has done that before, but the problem is finding a GOOD one. It's a lot of work installing one just to find out it's a dud.
Cool..
Where did you get your thermal camera?
I have one, but it never syncs real and thermal images properly and states it is 320x260 IR size, but more like 64x48.
He uses an HTI HT-H8 thermal imager(384*288) camera. The cost is around $1,000 USD
@@PracticalKnow 1 year ago, Sorin used a new HTI-301 (smartphone version), and now he is swapped to the HT-H8? czcams.com/video/2PLp3Quvnl8/video.htmlsi=gtiHzkLIxyUVwXEj
It would be a nive video, explaining the change of thermal camera.
Nu are rost conectarea unui monitor extern. Și-a pierdut destulă vreme cu acel laptop, nu crezi?
Nimeni nu e atent? A zis ca a incercat clientul 3 monitoare.
My laptop broke after some blue screens. The blue screen didn't wanna load to the end, then it turned off and i tryed loging in.
When i did put in PIN it just keep loading.
I think i will get a new one... In a year.
No backlight or no image
👍👍👌👌
beep is when you plug the charger connector
Try to switch memory to another slot, maybe video working for couple minutes before becoming hot..
In the Philippines if they don't know what to do or something is intermittent, they will just use the hot gun and focus that on the suspected component or everywhere where it could go wrong due to heat damage.
This mainly happen when gaming on a soft surface or cloth where the laptop can't breathe properly which builds up the heat loosening the solder or damaging components.
This happen when putting the laptop down directly on a pillow or directly on the bed. I use a piece of hard surface like a piece of plywood to place the laptop there then place it on top the pillow so no ventilation holes are smothered.
But will it blend?Thats is the real question..
No, no ham, duck :D
another right to repair issue . its just landfill now
It'll work fine if it will still post to an external display.
@@DoubtingThomas333 But, if it is a chipset issue, that won't help.
@@DoubtingThomas333if it's a chipset, not a chance to work on external display
My acer nitro 5 display is black on turning on while lights will on and fan also start but after few second fans get stopped. What can i do about that?
Did you fix it?
Come on, guys. I am ordering intel chips from China and replacing them on infrared bga station. Had zero problems since started to order from SUHMS seller. Then clear ME region in bios and all good to go.
Nice commercial for another Chinese pirate
Didn't want to advertise anything, just wanted to share experience. If chip seller is trusted and equipment is right, then there is possible fix for this motherboard. I tried to use hubs from the donor boards and ordered some "new" ones off eBay. Also changing bga chip without bottom heater is almost 100% failure.
@@alexeynikitin2480 i liked your comment, hope Sorin will finally get a BGA machine, infrared and all the good stuff
what is the brand of the chipset?
hmm, intel?
@@maklogetrich2378 I do not know. If I know the brand I will see if I can find a reliable chipset dealer

Sorin you gonna kill your OLED on the 14 Pro. Always ON sucks. I turned off mine day 1.
Salut
Cred ca am eu chipsetu,e comparat pt un laptop asemanator de pe Ali cu £40
Daca vrei il trimit sa il schimbi si sa vezi daca e bun
Salut, oare nu o ia cu un reballing ... 😊
4:45 you got sidetracked and still no answer on 2.5v ram memory 😅
the ram voltage for ddr4 is 1.25V... the 2.5V is double that for some signals....
ACER🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍
Going by how the current was jumping between 2 amps and 1.16 amps it was stuck in a loop. Possible bios. Or firmware corruption.
I had the exact same problem 2 days ago. I changed the chipset, but the problem persisted. Could there be another cause? I mean, how likely is it that 2 chipsets would have the exact same issue? However, my laptop is still running. But also the christmas lights with the new chipset....but laptop is working fine even benchmark. But i dont know how long it will run 😅
Do you have a thermal camera? Sorin or you should start a topic on the forum on this laptop model or chipet model
Everyone should band together and lobby for right to repair and let's keep the E-Waste down big companies don't want to smarten up just don't buy their garbage they will smarten up in hurry...
Hello 🤝👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👋👋👋👋
Whea Uncorrectable error is CPU
How close I was When you wrote the customer letter about this laptop, I immidiatly though that it is dead GPU. I was so close.
WHEA ERROR can be almost anything in hardware verry tricky error, for those who get it i spent 2 days trying to solve it an end i installed x32 bit version of Windows, non of 64 did not work nonsense...but it worked...
common issue of acer nitro model.
