These performance was presented by Filipino student immigrants from University of California Los Angeles. Every year their social club always makes some kind of performance for Pilipino Cultural Night where they share Philippine culture to their fellow students and for those who miss their country.
I think this is the Philippine Traditional/Folk Dance that is the most famous globally. This is being taught as well in (some) American schools. Even some folk songs of the Philippines. Tinikling is a dance inspired from the Tikling Bird.
tinikling is so much fun! we did it for a competition back during high school :D there was also another tradotional dance we did "Sayaw sa Bangko" where we stacked benches on top of each other and dance on top of them. I recommend you checking out a Sayaw sa Bangko performance! 😁
We had this when I was in high school. The timing is about the beat from the bamboo and lots of practice. Literally LOTS OF PRACTICE! But what they did is sooooo impressive. It takes a lot of time to master the beat... blindfolded. Kudos to all of them! 👏👏👏
Pinoy here... it's really not that difficult; They always have only ONE foot inside the pole and the beat is 1-2-3. All you gotta do is raise your foot on 3. Once though my classmates have done an advanced version... bamboo poles on the ground AND in the air, at head-level! So not only raise your foot at the right time but DUCK AS WELL!
Wow amazing reaction ,,,But there are many Pilipino Tradational Folk dance ,,,,That one is TINIKLING,,,and the Others are SINGKIL,,CARIÑOSA,,ITIK ITIK,,PANDANGGO sa ILAW,,MAGLALATIK,,KURATSA,, SAYAW sa BANGKO...
The one showed in Alamat's music video was actually not tinikling, but singkil. Tinikling is from the northern part of the Philippines while singkil is from the Muslim part of the country
The TI-NIK-LING means ‘’PLAYFUL BIRDS OVER THE BRANCHES’’, a popular Folks Dance from the ISLAND of LEYTE(Visayan Regions). And it’s Cultural Dance of OPHIRIAN - FILIPINO’S - The Lost Tribes Of Israel, came from Northern part of Israel migrated to the Philippines since Ancient time.
The dancers are mimicking the sparrows on the rice fields that is surrounded by snares and traps set by hunters, but with vigilance and agility, avoids captivity and death and remains forever soaring free and happy!!
I just literally watched the exact video the other day because I feel like dancing it lol. Last Monday was the start of my Prelim exams and I literally dance in the hallway after the exam to release my stress. HHAHAHAHAHA
I am from Northeast India and one of Indian state called Mizoram has this similar kind of bamboo dance as their traditional/ ancestral dance. I believe we, the Northeasten Indians are related to the Philippines via our forefathers
The Ami Tribe, one of many aborigine tribes of Taiwan also has a Bamboo dance like the Filipino Tinikling Bamboo dance. Indonesia, Malaysia & Thailand also have their own version of this bamboo dance. I think it originated from the Austronesian group of Aborigines all the way from Taiwan.

I have never seen an American dance tinikling at a faster speed. But I have seen it here in the Philippines, especially in Bohol. They dance with the bamboo incredibly fast.

Plenty of our folk dances are very technical. Practice is gruesome 😢
Please let them see the Sayaw sa Bangko. It actually more thrilling when the made tower of chairs while dancing and jumping on it 😊

It actually wasn't that brilliant. It's pretty much common sense that a person would lose weight if they dance Tinikling a lot. Lol
❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍😊😊😊
😂😂 fun but difficult coz once the 2 bamboos will clip your foot, not fun anymore you will 😢😢 painful
the girl who’s wearing black looks like wonhee from ill-it
Girl in white practically falling asleep.
Pilipino Traditional Dance
the technique is u need to use your ears 😂
If you like this, singkil is even better and more difficult 😂 watch singkilb😂
I remember I danced to this in school and I was hit by that pole... It hurts so bad.. Lol
I remember my foot being crashed by those poles haha it hurts so bad 😂 my ankle swelled for a week...still performed tho haha
This is why I never danced the Tinikling. I mostly opted to handle the bamboos instead 😂
Jimim is quite rude to her friend
americans are better in this dance
Fk no they don't.
