  • Release stress with poi dance! Our daily lives can fill us with an enormous amount of anxiety and stress. This results in symptoms where parts of our bodies become tense and it can have an effect on our health and even our brains. I've been exploring poi spinning as a means to engage in dance therapy and work out all means of dealing with all the stress I store in my body.     The water fall while leaning forward is one of my rehab moves my doc and i came up with for my scoliosis, and hacky sack for my busted feet. Now my doc is recomending poi to her patients. Im never stressed, but i like to stress out my body. Great content.

    Thank you for sharing this I absolutely love these exercises so much. I am obsessed with using poi to balance the nervous system. I would love to see a video of your stretches with poi in a video.

    Thank you for this! And all your videos for that matter, thank you. I’m 43 and a year into my flow journey and I started with poi, and slowly picking up more things but juggling and contact poi seem to be my jam. But thank you this gives me inspiration!!

    Hi Drex! I wanted to mention that having your tongue on the roof of your mouth is the correct resting place for it. What isn’t great is pressing your tongue strongly against the roof of your mouth. It should just rest lightly, with the tip of your tongue gently touching.
    I had to do Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy to regain my ability to swallow correctly, and tongue placement was a big deal. You just don’t want hold a lot of tension in your tongue, you want it relaxed.
    Thanks for the video. I also use flow arts for stress relief. Double baton and contact staff 😊

    As a beginner to poi the movements were enlightening. I was not an athletic person. Casual Hiking at most. My upper body was not ready for Poi. I had to learn to stretch in new ways and build up stamina in my arms and back. During that, I learned the somatic benefits. How relaxing it can be. It helps keep my nervous system regulated. Really beneficial. Also the mind challenges.
