I totally understand your introvert perspective because I am one too. I listen to people while in a group but am more comfortable talking one on one with an individual. I live alone in the PNW, all family and friends live many miles away. Being alone on the holidays was an adjustment after raising a family and divorce hit but I now have a choice. There once was a time when I didn't feel safe in my own home so I relish my safety and privacy now in my senior years. I love watching you especially since you are a woman with her dog, living her dream in Alaska. Take care!

it is just my husband and me here in Costa Rica so no tree.
My husband's brother died last week, so this is a sad holiday this year. I did put a Santa and Raindeer candy containers out and a bowl of ornaments.
I had a radio just like the one on your mantel. It didn't make it down here. Couldn't bring it all. It was a reproduction but I loved it. I gave all my antiques and furniture to my BFF back in Indiana.
Christmas was always at our house. The last one was with 3 kids, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren plus 4 husbands including mine.
I am like you, I actually enjoy our Christmas here. Hub is fixing a ham and sweet potatoes. it will be nice.
We are both introverts so home is our castle as your's is your's.

Oh I would be so sad without my tree. I love a real one, but don't get them. I have a fake one that looks like it's real. My greatest joy is when we get it decorated with lights and oraments. Turn the lights on and it just fills my heart with happiness

How nice this was. It is interesting to directly touch people through a film although you can’t see us. Something tells me that you were either a teacher in a previous life or that you emulate one who had some deep impression on you. You appear most relaxed when you are demonstrating something that you are preparing in the kitchen or discussing your pantry provisions. I think many viewers appreciate your practicality. I decorated a little after Thanksgiving, but my mom and I are in the process of buying a home together, so all had to be put away, and now packing has begun.....so, the porch will be lit up, and I look forward to going all out next Christmas, Lord willing!
I also am content being alone, when I am, as I am never lonely!

My dog has her own blankie and I do the same thing to her! She loves blankie hugs and I love giving them to her.
Next year order some good looking fake greens so you will always have them and……… no needles to worry about!! Some greens look so real from 3 feet away it’s hard to tell if they’re real or not!!
Merry Christmas Alone. 🎄Your mantel looks lovely with the decor. We have had a couple of stormy days as well, lots of snow, and wind piling up the snow where I dont want it. Been shovelling a lot! I dont have a tree either. First reason is the cat, I dont know what she will do with it, second, we are not home for the main day, Christmas Eve. We are going to my brothers farm, where my sister in law has decorated beautifully. Very traditional Christmas. And third reason why I dont have a tree this year, I forgot to take the ornaments out from my lean to shed, and it is too much snow to get to it now. I will have some friends over for dinner next Friday, no plans other than that, like it quiet. Staying home with the dogs on New years Eve. Not much fireworks here in the woods, but might be a few. Dont want to leave the dogs alone. Anyways, enjoy your Christmas, will see if I can see any live streams, would be nice on New Years Eve. God Jul! ☃

Alone you are going to have the most beautiful White Christmas. I love your decorations. It is simple but again Christmas is a religious holiday. I'm going to be by myself also but it is my choice. I'm O.K. in my own skin. I will be cooking and baking what I want to eat and that makes me happy. Not into the shopping madness anymore. Been there done that. Happy Holidays! I, too, am spending Christmas alone and don't have a tree this year (too expensive), but what's giving me joy this year is the knowledge that the days will now be getting longer -- always a cheerful thought during winter. Seems like Gnomie is having a rough time this season; do you live anywhere near him? I would have loved living in Alaska when I was younger and could do heavy work, but now I'm glad to be living in a warmer and kinder climate: we're having a few days in the 50s here in Appalachia, and so I'm able to do a little garden prep for spring. I'm sure we'll get lots more cold in January, but I'm enjoying the balmy weather while it's here. I built a small high tunnel greenhouse with raised beds this past spring so now I'm enjoying a fresh salad every couple of days. I know you're planning a big in-ground garden, but I encourage you to consider a small high tunnel; even in AK you should be able to have a few fresh greens in winter. All the best to you.

Merry Christmas!🎄 your decorations look pretty. Sweet gifts! Once again, I didn’t put up a tree, wreath, lights, nothing. Didn’t buy a poinsettia or mail cards or buy one gift. I made a couple quilts back in fall mailed them to grandkids. That’s it. Saving thst $ and not being not buying into the commercialization of Christmas. Christmas is for children! Nobody wants anymore “stuff”, especially me.saving for the times when I do need something.

I admire your lifestyle,. It is something that I would love to do, not sure about Alaska but definitely out of the city lifestyle and back into the country. I love growing my own food, hanging my clothes on a clothesline and away from all the light pollution and other pollution I see daily. I sure could be a hermit no problem. Love the winter weather during the cold season, however, where I am in Canada, we are not getting the weather I am used to and I sure miss it. I love the changing seasons and certainly would enjoy the solitude at times, and a crackling fireplace. Love the mantel, and btw that dress is so me, I love it. Happy New Year. New Sub.
