Welcome to Modern Homestead Alaska. We are located in South Central Alaska near the town of Wasilla. Living in Alaska and building our dream of “modern Homesteading” through the wilds of winter and the long summer days. We started building our Modern Homestead in 2021. We have since completed the upper levels of our home. Built a 16x16 foot chicken coop that dreams are made of. Our chicken ladies live in luxury as they view the beautiful lake from large windows inside the beautiful coop. We raise our own poultry, hunt for our food. We are avid fisherman And woman. We also built an amazing and beautiful wood shed. We have great big garden planes for the future. Join us as we dream big dreams and live everyday working hard to accomplish them.

You know how to pick a tree for sure. I remember when my kids were young, poor things, I always ended up picking up what I called, a charlie brown Christmas tree. Empty spots, no branches. I used to call my mother to see if she could make it look better. Of course, being in my early 20's, still relied on Mom. 40 years ago now. And she made wonderful banana bread around the Holiday season.
So what I'm saying here is, you are starting, and making traditions for your kids and future Grandkids. You'll see, your sons, and Cote will be calling you for advise and help. The Proverbs 31 woman. ( of course that's talking about the Bride of Christ), but also, the woman who takes care of her family, cares for her home, works on her surrounding with fine things. Demands, deserves, and gets respect from her children. (thats a big one, demand it)

I will definitely be trying that banana bread recipe but without the nuts this holiday season. I am allergic to the nuts. Also between you and acre homestead I have learned a lot about searing meat before you put it in a crockpot. I made homemade meatballs with a cranberry chili sauce today. Searing the meatballs before putting them in the crockpot made them turn out better then any other time I have made them. Love watching your vids.

Your banana bread looks yummy. If you soak the dried bananas in a little boiling water they won’t be as chewy and you can even use the liquid in pancake or muffin batter.

Ha! Reeve eats the bunch of bananas until there’s 2 left….then they sit..and start getting freckles. And I have to give the time limit warning. “You have 2 days to eat this or they’re going in the freezer” ha! Great way to use those dried bananas.
