    Really nice presentation, Steve! I can think of worse "obsessions" than having multiple copies of the same great cards. Those stacks of ungraded cards should yield some superb grades and will display so beautifully in an SGC tux. Thanks for taking the time to share your obsession. Well done.

    Steve, you have some glorious obsessions and cards, my 1971 Topps Hank Aaron clubby! Your copy looks absolutely stunning! 🤯🤯I hope the third time is a charm for your Yaz RC submission! Indeed, I think self-discipline is key and something that most all of us collectors are challenged by on some level; not to take away from your obsession. Good luck perhaps selling or trading some of those extras for new cards in the future! 😊👊

    Great VR Steve! I believe I've got 2 obsessions on my radar, just 1 to go! I too have many I'd like to get graded. My submissions have dwindled a bit but I hope to ramp it up in the near future. Thanks for letting us in on what drives you in this great hobby!

    Hey Steve nice VR! I agree about getting cards graded! I really enjoy the process from selecting which cards to grade to seeing the results! I also think a lot of cards look great slabbed are well protected! I usually get a handful of cards graded by PSA every month and do random SGC submissions as well, it’s definitely addictive!
    Can’t say I share the same obsession with collecting duplicates. While I do have many cards with duplicates, typically if I have an example of a card that I’m happy with I move on. I must admit though it’s pretty cool seeing many examples of a beautiful card lined up next to each other!
    Well done my friend! 👍🏻

    Neat cards. They do look better in the SGC Tux. Nice looking 1970 Reggie Jackson card. I like his 1970 card much more than his 1969 rookie. Thanks for the display.

    Thanks for the response Steve! Good luck with the Yaz rookie. Definitely got a chuckle out of the duplicate cards reveal. It's going to be tough to top the grades of the ones you were showing throughout the video as they are great condition cards.

      It was a great topic, John! I have way too many duplicates, I have to do something about that because there are so many other cards I want. That Yaz RC haunts me, I know I should just enjoy the beauty of the card but I also feel like it deserves a grade!

    Nice VR Steve! It’s definitely hard to turn down good deals even if you have multiples of the card. When I have stuff I know I should move I usually start looking for cards I can pick up if I sell some and it usually motivates me a little. Haha. Take care Steve!

  • @tjmacvintagecardsnostalgia648

    Hi Steve, thanks for sharing your obsession. I enjoyed hearing them. I can see where grading can be addicting. I have never submitted a card for grading. You do a great job getting pretty close to what you expect the grade to be.
    It can be tough to resist a good deal. I rarely buy duplicates unless they are in a lot of cards I need which is pretty rare. I will typically keep the cards I need and sell the rest. There are too many cards I want, and the money tied up in doubles can get me more cards I don't have. Five Ted Simmons rookies and Willie Mays! My goodness. They do look awesome all together.
    That Yaz is a beauty regardless of if it is minimum size or not. I can see where that would annoy you though. Which Reggie card is your favorite? Mine is the 78. If I had to pick one with the A's it would be the 1970. I love the camera angle and how alert his eyes are.
    Take care!

    • @vintageonvintage817
      @vintageonvintage817  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Thanks, Terry! It is a lot of fun getting cards graded although it does eat into the hobby budget a bit. I think as long as you are realistic in your expectations it can be enjoyable. One thing I have noticed lately is with the current dip in the market that there are some amazing deals on cards already graded. I feel like I should be looking a graded purchases over non-graded moving forward.
      The duplicates is an issue I need to figure out, I agree there are too many cards to own to have funds tied up in duplicates. I do need to either sell or trade off a few of them. I am still trying to figure out the best way to sell the cards, I have looked at sending them to Greg Morris, they take a pretty big cut but they also take out all of the hassle and usually get top dollar. How have you sold your cards in the past?
      The Yaz RC really is a beauty and I know I should just let it go and enjoy the card, it is tough I won't lie.
      Reggie has so many great cards, I am a big favorite of the 70,71 and 74. Think if I had to pick one it would probably be 74, just love that photo!
      Thanks for watching and take care!

    • @tjmacvintagecardsnostalgia648

      @@vintageonvintage817 The 74 is a great choice as well. I sold ungraded cards about 20 years ago on eBay. Everything I have sold since has been graded. When I bought a lot on eBay it was graded cards. I broke it up and sold the cards I didn’t want under my eBay account. When I sold all my basketball cards I went through PWCC for the cards worth several hundred to over a thousand dollars. The cards worth less than $100 I sent to another eBay consigner who had low fees. I was satisfied with the experience of both. I wouldn’t go to PWCC now because they are no longer on eBay. When I sold my 1980 Magic, Erving and Bird I sold it under my eBay account with a buy it now or best offer. I ended up negotiating a price with a buyer.
      Greg Morris sounds like a good option for ungraded cards. Less hassle. Good luck if you decide to sell your doubles.

    Wow Steve, you have some serious issues! 🤣 I feel bad for feeding into your addiction at the National this year, at least I didn't talk you into buying any duplicates. @rickbingham3907 Před 6 měsíci

    Hello. I enjoyed your video. Really nice cards. Maybe if the Yaz bothers you too much to fully enjoy it, you could sell it and put the money towards one with a numeric grade. I wanted to ask you about SGC. I have never sent in any of my cards to be graded yet. I do like both SGC and PSA. I think the older cards look great in an SGC holder and have gathered some of my cards to send in to them. But, I have watched three different videos where people soak slabbed cards from different companies in water. In all these videos, the SGC slab is the one that leaks in water. I emailed SGC and asked them about this with no response from them. Now I am gun shy about sending them anything. I also have a few of my favorite cards that I purchased in SGC slabs, and am wondering if I should try to sell them and replace them with the same card in a PSA slab. I just wanted to see if you have seen or heard similar things about SGC slabs not being air tight? I think if they had answered my email I might feel better about them, but they did not get back to me. Again, great video. Thanks. Take care.

    • @vintageonvintage817
      @vintageonvintage817  Před 6 měsíci

      I have never heard of that issue with SGC and will need to research it more. I can definitely understand your concern. I think for me I feel comfortable with SGC but it could be because I have already submitted so many cards to them.
      The fact they did not return your email is also a bit concerning.
      Thanks for letting me know about this.
