- Gambling addictions are growing in society rapidly and even more so in professional sport. Disposable income, plenty of spare time and chasing that buzz you get from professional sports make pro athletes a high risk. As you'll hear in this episode with one of the greats Paul Iffil, it was those things that had him lose around 2 Million pounds in his career.
Paul was an English Football star playing in some of the biggest games against some of the biggest names. New Zealanders will know him more for his prolific goal scoring record with the @wellingtonphoenix. Like all athletes Paul had his struggles with injuries, form and non selection but the biggest struggle for him throughout his career was his gambling.

My favorite episode yet - along with the Shane Christie episode. Ifil is my favourite Nix player ever - knew him following the Prem in the 00s and him playing for Millwall against Cristiano Ronaldo's Man Utd. and such a good guy too whom I've met a few times. So profound hearing about this side of his life and so happy to hear Paul 's winning the war. So many peeps can learn from him - not just professional athletes.
How good! He is such a legend and his story will hopefully help plenty of others. Glad you enjoyed it mate!
