- While there are currently over a thousand grandmasters in the world, only 14 players in history had crossed the 2800-rating barrier. GM Alireza Firouzja is the most recent addition to the 2800-club after scoring a sensational 8/9 at the European Team Championship.

It would have been much better if you had shown important games. Here we see his talent at swinging bullet games, but this achievement is not about online bullet flags but about classical masterpieces. The guy went 8/9 in his last tournament and won the Grand Swiss this month and there's no picture if it. Just bullet swings of random online tournaments
He only started playing chess at 9 years old. Amazing
Actually 8 years old. According to Wikipedia who probably asked Alireza or his parents at the time, but whether 8 or 9 it is still incredible.
@@hsp6798 2012/2013 according to himself, so more like 9/10 years old.
@@nicbentulan really made his achievement that much crazier. Yeah typically 4-5 is when most of the elite players started, 9/10 is old with today’s standard. The fact he only played chess for less than 10 years and is currently world number 2 is mind boggling.
I wish i started to play that early lmao. I started to play at 26yrs yrs old
@@sebastianjosefsson3620 36 here, never too late
Magnus: FINALLY A WORTHY OPPONENT!
Our battle will be legendary!
@@nicbentulan who tf cares for chess960
Lol Nepo is already buried. Nobody takes him seriously and everyone wants Magnus vs Alireza
Good
@@nicbentulan Not chance for alireza sorry
The thumbnail designer deserves a raise...
Why he designed it like that bro your comment is hilarious
It is dreadfully phallic, isn't it? 🤣
I’m putting all my stonks on him
"All Fedoseev had to do was take the draw" He is so good that even an amateur like me won't go for the draw, just watching his amazing plays makes me want to play a game, same with magnus.
The Alireza Firouzja era is upon us.
Magnus has had a good run, but I think his day in the Sun is setting. Chess Players seem to be a lot like Mathematicians. They do their best work in their 20's.
Like Leonard Euler
firoujza will be world champion 10 years from now hehe
Magnus is still in his great form though.
Why are people burying Magnus suddenly? He's still 2856 with nobody except Alireza scraping 2800.. I give Magnus a good couple more years as world champion, or maybe losing to Alireza, then getting it back one more time, then finally passing the torch a la Kasparov-Karpov
This comment aged nicely!!!:)
Congrats, the future is coming..
Greeting from Tehran,Iran.Keep it up Alireza and keep going on!
Watching this kid grow up and get stronger and stronger was epic ... everyone's predicition that he would be soon going for the WCC is coming true.
علیرضا منتظر اول شدنت هستیم.
Alireza👑
Congrats firouzja what an amazing player 👏👏👏🥳
Persians Proud of you Alireza Firouzja ✌💯
Watching him play gives me chills!
A legend is born!
wow such nice video go Alireza!
Alireza is making history. An exceptional prodigious talent. Pennsylvania 🇺🇸 USA cheers you on Firouzja. Magnus is you're arch rival now.☕🙂👍
His record is a bit inflated, because he reached 2800 playing against opponents weaker than him, almost all of them under 2700. I tried to make it clear, five months ago, to a guy here on yt, but I can't find the video . I told him that, to find out if the record was credible, we had to wait for tournaments against opponents of the same level or higher than him. Here is the first tournament with opponents of the same level, and in fact he has already lost 11 Elo points in nine games. Quod erat demonstrandum. Magnus is still a long way off. Maybe in five or six years...
Definitely someone to watch and a future contender for the world championship itself! We're living in another springtime for chess!
I just don't get it. I thought any tournament organizer don't pay anything to any player in advance they just hand out the pre arranged prizes to the top 4 or 6 if players get that far accordingly
He is really tricky that’s epic this guy will be first on the chess boards he got so much talent and a lot concentration
Firoujza pac-maned Naka's pawns, lol.
He started joining tournament at 12? Or started chess at 12? If he started at 12 that is just amazing how he learned so quick.
He started when he was 9 or something, 2013 he said i think, just incredible, cant wait next years he might challenge for the championship even.. 😀
@@burimsaliji23 he play chess for 8 years now
He started learning chess in 2012 when he was 8 years old. By 12 was already Iranian champion.
He became a GM in 2018.
In 2019 he crossed 2700 at age 16.
In 2021 he crossed 2800 at age 18.
From becoming a GM to 2800+ rated in just 3 years. Insane!!
Only 13 players had crossed 2800 before. The same number of the world champions.
@@kiantamar iran was very weak at chess so no surprise that he won iran championship
@@hamzaslr9093 hahah at 12 he was 2500. No country in the world had such weak players champion at 2500
I don't know if he can ever be the number one and I don't care I just love the way he plays very offensive and risky with a lots of unpredictable moves and creativity which makes it so much fun to watch him play
It so cool, you can tell that Magnus is a fan of Firouzja's play. This is going to be an epic rivalry.
Do you hear those footsteps, Magnus? Guess who's coming for you.
Amazing talent .. Still on Team Magnus though .. Can't wait for them to play a classical game whith this crazy alireza form. shame alireza is not playing Tata steel
It is not that they didn't invite him. Rather they didn't reach in terms with his financial demands. Still so sad that he is not playing
I think it's still gonna take some time for him to become the World Champion, but he's on the right track.
It was easier for Magnus to beat Vishy Anand for the title of champion than it will be for Alireza to beat Magnus.
but this is bullet and blitz... he got 2800 in classic
Candidates 2022 winner. Bet me
I would really love to see a match with Abdusattorov Nodirbek.
Bravo Alireza Firouzja
Great video, thanks.
Imagine if he becomes the first 2900 in history too
Why is every video clip on here not Classic - that's what his 2800 rating was in? Not one thing in this video had anything to do with the title of it.
Am I missing something? At 2:38, in the background the chess board is set up wrong, behinf Firouja, (white square is on the left side - with the black rook on it).
what a observation
@@shaquib7 Looks like I might be mistaken. The board may be behind him and that's a reflection in a mirror so it would appear reversed🤦♂️
The thumbnail is good on so many levels
This is Federer-Nadal. I suspect Firo will need one or two go's in WCC matches before he takes the crown.
Grats Alireza!
The Genius Alireza Firouzja . . .
Subtitulos en español para mayor difusión, 😀👐⭐
Can't wait to see Alireza vs Magnus in the next world championship match!!!!
The best comment from Anish Giri, "He's scripted" 😂
Pretty sure his hit rating on the board and not online.
he is my Hero
I like that thumbnail!
So proud🤘 Happy he left Iran to be focused on his game
What a star
God bless whoever made the thumbnail
2:16 why did Hikaru stops?? He was Clearly winning on time, and the game has no increment. Alireza only have 2 secs left. Did he just resign because of some kind of honor between GMs??
If you win on time but have no pieces it’s a draw
and the dude is only 18 and he´s by far superior than most GM in the world
Magnus worried, don't think so.
From reading all the comments down below or hearing the excitement of the commentators, i thought i was going to see some of the greatest strategic moves in chess history, but all i saw on the board was a guy winning by flagging a lot of his opponents or exploiting the time pressure to do some cheap tricks. It really doesn't take much to impress you people, does it ?
Most of the videos are from blitz games, watch his classic games and you will know why people are impressed.
And the fact that his elo is above 2800 is all we need to get impressed.
Man it's hard to grasp the fact that he's in my generation...
That ending gave me chills.
Persian gulf's son... Alireza, congrates
I believe he is going to be number 1

F**k 🔥🔥🔥 goosebumps...
0:05 chess24 OP 😂😂
he is gaining great feats in classical and u r showing his tricks for flagging opponents..🥴
Next years world champ i think
People keep saying this like Magnus is just going to roll over for him. Magnus is still in his prime and is still by far the best player in the world. And he just dispatched Alireza with little trouble in this year's Norway chess. Alireza has been phenomenal over the past few weeks but for people to just assume he's ready to knock off the guy who has been number 1 in the world for the past decade really need to tap the brakes. Alireza has a bright future and he may be world champ one day, but Magnus is going to have a lot to say about when.
@@jasonkoch3182 But I think Magnus will retire after this WC match , he has suggested as much a few times.
@@markphc99 He hinted at that every time ... he is basically going to retire when he loses the title, could be in many years,,
He's obviously a super genius! Let's wait for coming up few years.
Great news!
Eu posso dizer que vi carlsen e firouzja.
Are we all sure that Alireza Firouzja is NOT working as an adult act0r called "Diego Perez" ? It looks like it's him.
Firouzja is on his way to take the crone, watch out Magnus..
Goat
I’m sure we’ll see him at the next candidates tournament.
he is already qualified so 😂your point
He's literally qualified for it lmao
Can you give your prediction if he reaches candidates ?
Imagine being so good that you regularly beat the living shit out of Nakamura. Nakamura. The guy who eats 2400's for breakfast. That's bloody scary.
Is this a chess video or am I watching the Kentucky Derby?
yashasin 💗
goosebumps all over!!!
We love you Ali 🙌🏽🌹🇮🇷🇮🇷🇮🇷🇮🇷🇮🇷
Alireza having similarities to Fischer is sure likable but I'll still side with the old dogs.
Winning via flagging in TT has nothing to do with him reaching 2800 , what's the point of this video ?
Magnus dislikes it ;)
Nice thumbnail.
All Heil to the new King :)
Kind of funny to celebrate Alireza's FiDE rating with exclusively clips of him playing bullet and blitz.
He is not 2800 he is currently 2770 elo rating.
He is, FIDE page is not updated, he just got 33.8 rating
He looks like D-low
your pfp already shows your intentions😂

Magnus drinking too much at these days. He should take care. This kid coming very fast.
I want him to beat Magnus
СЮ вперед!!!
Bravo firouzja🇮🇷🇮🇷

Next title: youngest world champ
0:25 Alireza lost this game, and he also lost the match VS Fedoseev.
IRANIAN CHAMP, VIVA ALIREZA🇮🇷🇮🇷🇮🇷
He's going to be the first to reach 3000 FIDE. Calling it now. 💪
it's not posible, because there should be multiple players out of 2900
That would require becoming world champ which isn't going to happen. Calling it now lol
First, no one has hit 2900 yet. Second, to reach 3000, there needs to be a good amount of high-rated players to get there. Firouzja is not getting 3000 by playing only 2750s.
@@patstaysuckafreeboss8006 lol Each to their own brah. We can agree to disagree respectfully.

wow
2800 in classical and just shows bullet/blitz lol ok
France has won the jackpot with Alireza! I hope he will be able to say a few words in French soon. But maybe French is harder to learn than chess? 😉
Well this isnt fair. Magnus broke at 17 on live rating. If it was by the end of the month it could have been formal. It's not fair
@Secret Wars - Michael Jordan vids channel u obviously know nothing about chess. Calrsen broke at 17 on live rating
