  • While there are currently over a thousand grandmasters in the world, only 14 players in history had crossed the 2800-rating barrier. GM Alireza Firouzja is the most recent addition to the 2800-club after scoring a sensational 8/9 at the European Team Championship.

It would have been much better if you had shown important games. Here we see his talent at swinging bullet games, but this achievement is not about online bullet flags but about classical masterpieces. The guy went 8/9 in his last tournament and won the Grand Swiss this month and there's no picture if it. Just bullet swings of random online tournaments

His record is a bit inflated, because he reached 2800 playing against opponents weaker than him, almost all of them under 2700. I tried to make it clear, five months ago, to a guy here on yt, but I can't find the video . I told him that, to find out if the record was credible, we had to wait for tournaments against opponents of the same level or higher than him. Here is the first tournament with opponents of the same level, and in fact he has already lost 11 Elo points in nine games. Quod erat demonstrandum. Magnus is still a long way off. Maybe in five or six years...
