This is a really goofy quote from someone who is extremely sheltered in life. I'm pretty sure most torture victims prefer quick death... Even in this extremely tame method of execution, and even if you're innocent, this is a much better way to die than spending decades rotting in prison, isolated from freedom.

I've actually listened to an executioner interview and he said that most of them are actually totally calm and fully accepting of what they've done, and it's rare for them to be on edge or uneasy.
Many of them have been on death row for many years and have lived with the guilt of what they've done, so many of them are just ready to get it over with and end their daily misery.

What should not be forgotten: This video shows a ideal run-through. I absolutely reject Death Penalty, but be it as it is.
However several issues are not included in the video, starting from innocently executed (from whom several hundreds if memory serves correctly have be officially exonerated), through the issue of botched executions: Due to sourcing issues the first shot is now usually ommitted for a one or two substance solution. There are very heavy indicators that people are not put to sleep but only immobilized and suffer from an extreme feeling of burning inside for several minutes under full consciousness before dyeing. Apart from this, other issues arise like prison staff not being able to find veins due to former drug issues, prodding the person multiple times (as far as I know without anesthetic). Other bothes like injecting into muscle tissue leaving to further agony as the distribution of the drug is slowed which is not adjusted to schedule, waiting for hours on governors call to stay or to continue

@@angelosmorfis4412 The older I get the more I realize that life isn't black and white but often grey.
This is why I wrote that there are several reasons coming together in my mind why death penalty should be omitted.
However the counterargument is not valid. A) Yes, innocent people are put into prison and are sentenced to death. If you didn't sentence the latter group to death, they are still in prison innocently with a life sentence instead.
      B) Death penalty is extraordinary in that is an irrevocable sentence comparable to other corporeal punishments like amputation. It exceeds there as with other sentences (serving time or even corporeal punishments (which I also reject)), if innocence is proven resp. guilt disproven, the wrongly convicted person can be exonerated and can be reintroduced to being free again which the person should have been all the time. After execution, any exoneration is solely a bitter reparation for relatives having lost a loved person which didn't have to die.
      C) Two wrongs do not make one right.
There is no moral imperative to harm one group of people (wrong death sentence) because another group of comparable persons are harmed (prison sentence).
Instead, the moral obligation is to better serve both groups.
Prison does serve a purpose for factually guilty people but none for innocent people. This should be the goal, which I hope you agree to.
There are of course several other issues like racially based execution rates, misrepresentation by mostly public defenders, questionable death sentences to people who were tested to be so low IQ that the death sentence shouldn't even have been applicable, however I think above points provide enough reason to countermand your argument.

There shouldn't be a death sentence. Some innocents have died because of this. People should instead be offered euthanasia and if they don't want it, they should get life sentences. That being said, yes I think some people have done things which they deserve to die for, but just the fact that innocent people have been killed unjustly this way should make us consider alternatives
