      Did you use glass or plastic bulbs? I wonder if the paint only sticks to plastic bulbs and doesn't stick to the ones of glass🤔 did you mix your paint with water and floetrol as well, or did you just use pure paint?

    The dirty pour was awesome ! I have done beaded ornaments using the silk/satin ball ornaments for years now to give as gifts for my friends. Every year everyone got the same pattern but I assigned color combinations to individuals and so for 10years now they get a different ornament but always the same color scheme. Might have to do some of these this year as well

    I wonder about the silicone issue. If you watered down school glue or even modge podge, just enough so it would move around easily inside of ornament. Would that create a layer for the silicone to not cause areas with no paint? Something to investigate.

      I buy it thru Amazon. And it is called FLOOD and I buy it in 2 packs. I do 40% flotrol 10% water 50% paint. And that works well for me. It is latex based. The bottle of Flood is white with a orange cap and the label is gray and orange with white lettering.

  • @sherrislife2046
    @sherrislife2046 Před 5 lety +1

    I did these just like you and I even made my paint a little thicker with very little floetrol and I laid them upside down in a cup just like you did and all the paint seem to have dripped out and the paint did not stick to the inside of the ball real good. It's actually see through. When I checked on them this morning they were actually still wet on the inside. So how do they dry if the bulb is inside the cup keeping air from getting in it? How do you keep the paint to stick to the inside of the bulb? They stick to the ball just fine if I pour on the top of them but not the inside.

    • @MixedMediaGirl
      @MixedMediaGirl  Před 5 lety +1

      I think it really depends on the kind of paint unfortunately. I have a new ornament video coming out tomorrow, which I think will be better

    • @sherrislife2046
      @sherrislife2046 Před 5 lety

      @@MixedMediaGirl
      I used a mixture DecoArt artist Loft and folk art. I talked to some other person and she told me the same thing happen to her too. Like I said it just seemed like it was still wet on the inside because there was paint dripping on the bottom of the bulb once I lifted it out of the cup. So they're obviously not drying well being in the cup maybe if I lay it sideways but then it will look funny with the paint settling. I actually have a video coming out in about 1 hour doing bulbs LOL easy but lots of fun. I'll be looking forward to your video. Thanks for responding

    so are those huge bottles *always* filled and ready to go with the paint/floetrol/water mix? do you have to mix it up before use somehow? just wondering. TFS. so cool. If i were to mix just enough paint to fill these ornaments - how much paint to floetrol ratio would i need? :) Thanks again for sharing. TOO fun

    • @MixedMediaGirl
      @MixedMediaGirl  Před 6 lety +1

      +ibkristykat yes, I prepare them so they're always ready for painting :) to be honest though I did more after this video and it works great with just paint, floetrol isn't needed :) it works great with craft paint, or if you use a thicker acrylic paint then water it down a bit. If you add floetrol I would do 25% floetrol and 75% paint.

    • @ibkristykat
      @ibkristykat Před 6 lety +1

      Cool. I wanna try this and all i have is craft paint. if i use floetrol, that will be 1 thing to help add cells though, right? much less soap or silicone or other odd stuff. right? i see some "will it cell" vids recommended now that i've seen this vid. So i take it some odd stuff added seems to make cells. i wonder if, for instance, Dr Bronner's castile soap would add cells. (cuz a lot of is OIL) but i'm wayyyy new to the idea of acrylic pours. Thanks!

    • @MixedMediaGirl
      @MixedMediaGirl  Před 6 lety
