- This is the updated acrylic pouring Christmas ornament video for 2018. Last year I poured the paint on the inside of the balls, which worked well with the paint I used but other people had issues with all the paint running out, so I made this video, which seemed to work much better.
Feel free to get creative and add glitter or other materials :)
Materials used:
Plastic ball ornaments
Artist's Loft Flow Acrylics
Craftsmart acrylic paint
Rustoleum crystal clear enamel spray
Floetrol
Water
Ratios: 50% floetrol, 30% paint, 20% water

THIS VIDEO IS INTENDED FOR ADULTS. - Zábava
I do a lot of pouring over glass, and found that either pre painting with a solid color before doing the pour, or prepping the glass with a wash of water and a paint conditioner (liqidtex, floetrol, zinsser, etc) helps let the paint cover the glass better. Love the bobbles :)
it's cool!
Thanks for this tip!
Thanks for your advice. Merry Christmas 2021,
Not sure how or why your video showed up but I am very grateful. Just today I was trying to make painted ornaments without success. Everything you talked about in the beginning was happening. I was going to toss them but now I can paint the outside and not waste anything but the paint that I used. Thank you
I think the middle one was awesome. The open spaces brought out an uniqueness about it.
The first one had such pretty marble swirls to it and great colors.
The third one looked like the sea.
They all looked absolutely beautiful after the varnish sprayed on them.
It gave them such a pretty glossy finish.
I comment you on volunteering your time, Finances, and skills at schools to teach and share art and love with children. Not many schools have people to come in and do this now days.
There was several in my childhood who did things of this nature in church and school, but now days it does not happen. There are too many single Mothers and mothers who have to work to make ends meet.
God Bless Everyone
❤❤❤
I've been doing this for decades! I get the paint at craft stores with 50% off coupons, ornaments too! I did almost 100 one year for my husband to give to the people he works with! They loved them & ask me to make them for other occasions! Wedding ornaments come out really nice!!
I’ve already started dot mandala ornaments and now I’m kicking myself because these are GORGEOUS
I bet you could do a pour and then add some dots to them after they are dried.
I love the colors on the pink one you used an example, pretty, pretty, PRETTY!!!
LOVE how the third one turned out 😍
when the glass has bare spots, I use an eye dropper and squeeze out paint on the spots that need to be filled in! It works great!
I take floor wax and coat the inside with glitter!
I love these!!! I love how the one had the clear spots!!
We did these in-side the ball years and years ago.. I am talking like 23-25 years ago they worked out perfect, and still is glorious.
Omg they're gorgeous 😮😍
I like the one that didnt get paint all over looks so cool with the openings
I absolutley LOVE the centre one!!
these came out so pretty, can't decide which I like best, nice color combinations !
They turned out great! I’m so glad you did this because I was just thinking the other day that I wondered how pouring on the outside of the ball would be!
That is an amazing idea! They look gorgeous! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you thank you thank you!!! I finally was able to get paint to stick!!! Made a dozen last night. Just have to clear coat them!
This is amazing, I may have to attempt my own version of this. It looks complicated. Stunning work!
Oh my that clean pour is so awesome
Wow, I LOVE the way the clean pour turned out!
Love them all & will be doing my own this year!! My favourite is that clean pour, I love the definition of colour & the fact that it left those spots it hadn’t covered! Imagine it with a little light! Xx
Yes, they would look magical on the tree with tree lights shining through.
Wow, these all look amazing. What a great idea. Thank you.
These are beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
The middle one came out sooo pretty. I would love to try this with my sister's family and her kids. We love doing holiday arts and crafts together.
I love love love the middle one! Well done!
My daughter and I did these years ago, but we put the paint on the inside and swirled it around. Came out beautiful. Put a few dozen of them on the tree every year.
I can't wait to try this with my kids. Thank you for this great idea
The last one turned out how I want my Christmas ornaments want to be this year! such a beautiful color :D thank you for the inspiration

The second one you did was absolutely beautiful girl!! Far and away the most original/coolest ornament I've ever seen and it was so effortless for you! Had I been out shopping and come across it I would have been at the register to buy it in no time flat ☺ Thanks for sharing. I'm truly inspired!!
Okay I really love these!! What a great idea! Thank you!!
Very Beautiful ornaments 💞 that pink & brown one is so GORGEOUS 💞💞 I'm gonna try this 🎄

Love this video tutorial!!! Love the 2nd one soooo beautiful and first one pretty as well💙
Wow !! Beautiful . Thank you for sharing ❤️
the pink one was gorgeous.
Awesome!! I was kicking this idea around and now I have to try it!! Love the popsicle sticks in foam trick, that was one thing I was struggling with!!
An inside pour works super with clue, thank's for the inspiration 😊
Gorgeous and such a fun idea. Well done!
Before I ever heard of acrylic pouring (about 13 years ago), I made ornaments using regular metallic craft paints - not mixed with anything - and just poured some good squirts into the ornament. I would just swirl it in til it was totally covered and put them upside down in an egg carton. I’m still using them...usually 2-3 colors. This method is much easier, and will do some this year with the grandkids. Thank you!! 🎄 ornaments. P. S. I meant your method is easier!😊
I really like the gaps in the middle one. Going to do a ton of these for my daughter’s dance team girls!
Very awesome idea love them!!
I adore the clean poor one , the spaces where the paint didn't run look perfect .
You make it look so easy.
I've had a lot of practice :)
Omg! Beautiful
I personally liked the one you called the clean pour. Great ideas....thanks a bunch.
Thanks Marcy. I made some ornaments last year and ended up throwing them away. I’ll try your technique!! 😁
That is beautiful!
Those are too cute!!!!! 😍
Did mine with craft paint, didn't have a problem doing the inside. Frist I did a light coat, let it drip out, let it set almost a hour. Put plastic over what was left in cup; used what was left in the cup for second coat. Also, didn't use anything but craft paint. Turned out great!
Wow the middle one is fab!
Love this idea! For the clean pour, at first I was like, “meh, idk about this one, because of the coverage”, and then when you showed it, I liked it the best!!! I love the teardrop shaped openings because you could see through it to the colors inside!! That turned out fabulous! I definitely think the better quality paint made a prettier bulb in terms of the crispness of the lines. That’s why I’ll be using MMG paints! 😊💜
Thx for the wonderful idea!
Wow! Love this❤❤❤
Sooo cool...I love the clean drip (middle one)...gotta get some more paint!!!!!
Oh I love this idea! I was wondering what would be the best way to make some bulbs to match my new decor colors and it looks like I just found it. I'm thrilled! Thank you so much for sharing this.
I really enjoy and have learned a lot!!
They are beautiful, I love DIY
The clean pour in the middle was my favourite. They're beautiful thank you for sharing!
I love this! Thinking of making Christmas bulbs w my new acrylic paints for my mom fir her bday 😀this was fun to watch.. you processed each step throughly.. love how beautiful yours turned out!! ❤
OK, this looks great!
Nice! I definitely want to try and make these. I kind of like the gaps the drips created on the clean pour. You could try adding glitter on the inside of the ornament so it would poke through those gaps. That could look neat.
Very cool. This just might be my next project. Thanks for sharing.
Gorgeous!!
They came out awesome. Something different for gift giving. Blessings Shirlene
Genius! Thank you so much for sharing this.
Oh I love them!
I made these about 20 years ago. I used craft acrylic paints on the inside. Worked a treat. We are still using them.
This is a great idea. I have already painted 4,but am not crazy about them. I love your idea.
These are big sellers, I sold nearly 200 of these last year with the paint outside of all sizes. I’ve used artist loft flow acrylic, craft paint, liquitex, and several all kinds mixed with floetrel and a dab of pouring medium ... are very popular and look beautiful on the Christmas tree!
Omg thank you for this video! I have some of these ornaments that i bought last year also when they were on sale....i think i got each pack for $5 😊 i was gonna incorporate them in my wedding in July but never wound up using them so now they’re in storage til Christmas n i had no idea what i was going to do with them!! 😂 GREAT IDEA!! I’m gonna have to give this a try....thank you so much!!! 💜 ❤️
Love this!
AMAZING FOR CHRISTMAS!!!
Your clean pour kicks a**!!!!!!
Love the technique!
Another super îdea ! I must stopped working to try all I learn with you ! 😁
will try , they look great
I did for xmas last year, as gifts for co-workers. They turned out good, but yours are better!
They're SO pretty!! Now I have to go buy a bunch more. I always grab a lot of these clear ones around this time of year. Living at the beach, and, my children find a ton of the tiniest shells, we put sand and shells in ours and sell them periodically. But, NOW...I have other reason to have them. What better pre Christmas gift to give than something that can be used for Christmas!? Thank you Marcy!!! 💜💕💞
That is a great idea about the shells.
Loved this.
So pretty!!
I love these ❤
Sweet! Thank you for sharing! I have a hole lot of those balls to. So doing this! Will make great Christmas gifts! 💚
