great video! i have a few questions about slo:) are there a lot of internship opportunities for business majors in slo? what is the party scene like (how often are parties? are they mostly at frat houses?) also how hard is the business major?

hey! i love your videos and i just committed to slo for next year and i just have a couple questions you totally dont have to answer them all lol but im just gonna like list them
since this year is a lottery pick for dorms (it doesnt matter how early you submit your housing app) do the different majors have like assigned dorm buildings?
did you work/ are there a lot of opportunities to get a job for freshman on/near campus
they assign learning communities to different dorm buildings so for example the past two years business majors have been in Yosemite.. but they can completely change that up next year depending on how many people chose each community! i didn't have a job on campus I was just doing CZcams but there are many opportunities for jobs on campus/close to campus! :)

i am interested i joint a sorority, but the price is whats holding me back. how much is it because on the website it said like about $600 fees but is there more to it?

yes!! they are awesome, I am pretty sure they were in north mountain which is so fun : )) many of my friends lived there!!
How are the triples in yakitutu? I heard most dorms are being turned into triples and was wondering if you had any thoughts on how spacious they are, etc. Also, how much does it cost to be in a sorority?
the triples are still a pretty good amount of space! quads are so so big and doubles are very spacious (in the new dorms). and for cost- it varies from house to house and gets cheaper as you go throughout college (the first year you have new member fees) but a very. very. rough ballpark is 1000-2000 a year but truly depends on so many things so take that with a grain of salt!
If you had to choose the next best & nicest dorms under Yak which would it be? Like what would be the second nicest? Not location-wise at all, but dorm quality in comparison to Yak.
hmmmm probably north mountain because of the size and you share a bathroom with just your suitmates!
North Mountain is pretty far away from the other dorms and the bathrooms can get a little gross because they’re not cleaned as frequently but everyone i know that was in them loved them! I was in Sierra Madre and loved it!
How did you manage a job along with your sorority, school work, and social life?? I‘ll be a freshmen next year at cal poly and im worried if i get a job i won’t have much time for social life and i want to rush? what was your experience like having had a job at during all this?
my job was CZcams so it was flexible and I was able to manage my time well between school, work and social events but it does take a little bit of work! hope that helps!

yes! the school has an online program where you can see all of the jobs available on campus :)

Also, do you think if "game day" culture is a big thing for me, like I really want to experience a typical college game day tailgate/ that social experience, will Cal poly not be a good choice?
not necessarily, we have other events that take place of the game day vibes so it just depends what you are looking for at the end of the day :)
cal poly isn’t a big sports school, especially if you want the whole football/tailgate experience. people go hard for the ucsb soccer game but that’s the only one
Do you think that this quarantine stuff is going to hurt incoming applicants this year? Cal Poly is literally one of my dream schools and I am scared I wont get in because of the uncertainty with SATs and stuff. Also I totally get you with the SAT my pSAT score is on the lower side too (I haven't take the SAT yet).
sophie elise I think that they will have to understand that all of us are in the same boat, a bunch of people I know haven’t taken it yet. A lot of schools have already canceled the requirement for 2021 and most schools will probably put less pressure on test scores than gpa/ecs.
hey, I have been thinking the same thing because I will apply to cal poly in the fall. My college counselor at school said that all the California state schools are going test-optional and I found an article saying that cal poly will not require test scores for the graduating high school class of 2021 even though they haven't posted anything on the school's website yet. Hey Kristina, I'm currently a junior who is interested in applying to Cal Poly (mainly because of your vids), but being a black girl, I hear a lot about how Cal Poly has very little diversity and can be isolating for POC. In your honest opinion, Is Cal Poly really like that? It sucks hearing that because that is the only thing keeping me from applying. Thanks!
Hi, i'm a third year at cal poly and i'm a person of color so I can touch on diversity on campus. To put it bluntly, there is a huge lack of diversity on campus BUT the community of people of color is super close. There are definitely times where as a POC you feel that Cal Poly isn't putting much effort or care into you but they're working on it with the push from the students of color on campus. There are some incredible programs and resources for poc. The cultural clubs are amazinggggggg and super welcoming and open for everyone and there is an awesome multicultural center. You also have the ability to do the cross cultural experience option for week of welcome(orientation) which is soooo much fun and you get an initial group of friends and introduction to poc on campus. It can be a little isolating when you're in a class and you're one of the only poc in the class but know that you'll have a good support system within your friends outside of class (and even in class, Cal Poly has overall pretty friendly people). PCW (polycultural weekend) that was unfortunately cancelled due to COVID this year is highlighting the cultural clubs on their instagram (@polyculturalweekend) instead so feel free to check that out as well!! I definitely don't regret choosing Cal Poly despite the lack of diversity because I've found some good friends through these clubs and also within my college (also a Business major in OCOB)!! I would definitely apply and check out Open House as well as PCW next year so you can see for yourself if Cal Poly is right for you!! Hope this helps a bit!
Mary Grace hey girl! i am a black girl and i just committed to go to slo this coming year and they really have reached out to me and have provided me with a lot of info and opportunities for black student union groups and 29 other support groups for POC. so they have made a pretty good first impression and i am looking forward to seeing what more slo has to offer!

yes! totally have! the only mandatory things don't take too much time so I think you could do it!
Hi! engineering isn’t super common in sororities but that isn’t a bad thing at all!! Rushing will allow you to branch out and meet new people which is super important! And if you don’t decide to join, there’s a really strong community among engineering students (depending on which one you are)!
hey! I'm a freshman at cal poly too and to anyone considering going there, I also made some videos but with a bit of a different perspective (since I'm going to transfer) !! :) just to get some differing opinions! I also lived in red bricks and had a bit of a different experience
