Hi Erick, very good content on oils for modern turbo charged engines. Im a DIY guy who does his maintenance on all his vehicles. As they say oil is the life blood of an engine. If you want your engines to last longer use good quality oil, as specified by manufacturer. Change oil even more frequently than recommended. Do not use cheap no name brands. As they say oil is cheaper than the long term damage effects it may have on your car. I'm from South Africa and we do get a variety of reputable oil brands, although with the increasing fuel prices some are becoming more and more expensive.

I use Kia morning 2009 model and I use 5W30 synthetic oil but the oil starts dropping after two months…it’s a home used engine I bought not too long

ALWAYS USE THE RECOMMENDED OIL VISCOSITY THAT IS ON THE ENGINES OIL FILLER CAP AND RECOMMENDED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. IF THE CAR REQUIRES OIL THAT YOU CANNOT FIND DO NOT PURCHASE THE CAR.MODERN CARS ESPECIALLY SINCE MODERN CARS HAVE VARIABLE TIMING SYSTEMS AS WELL AS VERY LIMITED TOLERANCES( SPACES) BETWEEN ENGINE PARTS. USING THICKER OIL THAN WHAT THE MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDS CAN CAUSE ENGINE SLUDGE. IF YOUR CAR IS IMPORTED FROM JAPAN FIND OUT THE ENGINE CODE EG 5FE or 4AGE AND RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET WHAT OIL IS REQUIRED. CHOOSING OIL BASED ON YOUR CLIMATE WILL LEAD YOU TO TROUBLE AND YES SYNTHETIC OIL IS BETTER EVERY WAY THAN OTHER OIL BUT WILL LEAK OUT MORE IF YOUR ENGINE OIL SEALS ARE BAD. For me, the answers to that question are oppression, colonization, and how it affects us all today. This leads me to my questions relating to what oil brand should I avoid because of that company and its main benefactor is and what they have and are doing to black people around the world. Britain's royal family (from my understanding) is the main benefactor of Shell Oil. It is also my understanding that the United Kindom's royal family has and still acquires their resources to produce Shell Oil products is off the backs of poor black Africans, for which they deliberately fail to compensate those blacks that have made them filthy rich. For me, this is just the continuation of slavery. So, why shouldn't we avoid Shell Oil products until the fairly compensate Africans for their many centuries of oppression of African and black people everywhere?
Khai that's very true I bought oil around Zambezi (sigona) aki it was all fake.... Kwanza shell oil, there has been the notion that there is no fake shell oil...

Hi Erick. Good video. I'm not very clear. I am in Zambia. Can I continue using 5w40 for both my Axio and Vitz? The recommended is 5w30. The temperatures might be higher this year and if they exceeded 40°, would that be a problem for the engine?

On his behalf, yes it can and you should cos fully synthetic oil doesn't easily lose its viscosity (lubrication) properties at optimum engine operating temperature (offer better lubrication/protection). Mineral & semi however do lose it at engine operating temperature

You will kill that engine.. 0w 20 to 5w 40. The highest you should go is 5w 30

I believe the W30 & W40 are closely related and inter-usable, the 40 won't harm ur engine (its just slightly thicker than 30 at ur engine operating temperature)

@@tonykipkirui1741 with turbo chargers or superchargers, no doubt. But naturally aspirated, not really, from my experience. Especially 4 cylinder, inline engines. Those things take forever to 0-to 100km/h. Below 200hp is a little on the slower side.
