  • Built by Wide Vision Metal Fabrication, a quick way to move a 40 foot shipping container (or other sizes) is to roll a dolly under it, attach a hitch on the other end, and go!

    Full length videos coming soon on the Dolly/Hitch build as well as a "story" style video on the actual move.

      We are waiting! Super cool idea. The dolly must pass a check by the Road authority? In my country it is compulsory.

      Can you post the dolly/hitch build. I’m desperate to find a mover after selling my property but nobody around here will move a container except for out of state movers. I just want to move it two miles

    Absolutely brilliant! It’s about time I get to see that crane in action

      If you'd stayed here another day, you could have seen the crane in action. I would have used the crane and lifted you up into our dead elm tree so you could trim some branches for us. :) lol

      It worked great! Now I have to decide if I want my customers to find out I can move containers. It might turn into another business venture given the demand for containers right now!

    Great idea. Could you do a walk around video on the truck especially the tire and wheel setup along with the crane.

    • @WideVisionMetalFab
      @WideVisionMetalFab  Před 2 lety

      I should do that! I did a truck walk around video long ago, but that was before the switch to these tires, among many other changes. An update video is on the list. Thanks!

    How to move a container without a trailer? Easy, just pick it up with a your common everyday household crane and put it on a mini trailer. LOL.

    Would this setup work on a 20ft container?

    • @JonDingle
      @JonDingle Před 2 lety +2

      20ft shipping conatiner's are the same format as 40ft shipping container's, just shorter. So yes is the answer.

  • @peaklettuce
    @peaklettuce Před 2 lety +1

    40 ft high cube containers weigh around 10k empty. Those axles are 5 lug 3500lb, so you're a little light weight there. Cool idea though.

    • @WideVisionMetalFab
      @WideVisionMetalFab  Před 2 lety +4

      Howdy Don! This one is not a high cube. The TARE is 7650 lbs on this container. There's a couple walls inside, so I rounded to 8,000 lbs, then add some more for the hitch and dolly frame. I set the center of the axles 150 inches from the rear, so there should be 6145 lbs on the dolly and 2155 lbs on the hitch. Theoretically, of course, as I didn't go across a scale to make sure. The springs on the axles don't appear overloaded. Also, the hubs were cool to the touch when I parked it in my drive after an 84 mile journey. I think it's good! :)
