- Welcome to my first vlog! I had a crazy idea in my head of walking 100,000 steps - mostly for the badge in the Fitbit app. So to keep myself occupied on the longest day of my life, I decided to record it all. From start to finish, including breaks, it took me 17 hours to complete. Enjoy!

I did 100,730 steps on Sunday. (Turned 60 this year.) Started at midnight. It was the hardest thing I have ever done physically, but probably the most rewarding. Full moon, no wind. Perfect conditions. The mental and physical strain of the last 10k steps was tremendous. Like you, I told myself, "Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and you'll make it." Legs were extremely sore the next day. And worth it all :).
Well done!
I tried to go for 25,000 and i got 36,000! So proud of myself!
WAY TO GO!
machajohn Thankyou so much i just subscribed and liked
I appreciate it!
I know this was 3 years ago but good job dude be proud!!
Ik this was 4 years ago but congrats my guy
I did 71,450 steps on Saturday--vacation in Orlando. It was hard to walk for the next two days. Felt good to accomplish it. Started at 5:30 AM and finished up at 9 PM. Big day! It is difficult to get more than 6,000 steps per hour--maybe 6200 if you do everything right!
that's awesome! Especially in Florida, was it hot out?
@@machajohn About 70°
I put gel caps on the little toes, and leukotape on the balls of my feet. Used two pairs of socks after noon. Still got a couple blisters--especially the left pinky toe. Was it worth it? Oh YES.
This is awesome! I'm shooting for 50,000 steps tomorrow myself! 😁
Sorry, just seeing this, but I hope you did it!
Well did ya?
Same im Going to do it tmrw
I got 50,000 steps last year
itskeller Keller hey that's awesome! How did you feel after
I got 192,000
Love watching your video! I couldn't stop watching (which is hard for my short attention span) and it was amazing the whole way through. You're a very likable guy and seem astonishingly fun to be around! Earned you a sub. 😄
Thanks Spencer! I hope to keep it up for you! Stay tuned!
Thanks for posting this public. I completed the challenge on Sunday. Your video and approach helped me in my prep for the day. I even started at 3:28AM & glad I watched your video for guidance on that. I ended at 9:44PM. Thanks again; that is now added to my bucket of achievements. Congrats on yours!
Hey there! Glad I was helpful even in the slightest. Congrats on completing it! That's awesome
Awesome job and congratulations!!! Thank you for vlog-ing this achievement! I'm currently working on doing something like this my self.
watching this for motivation. been tracking my steps for almost 3 years. it's kind of an obsession but this makes me feel like I'm not STEPPING upto my full potential. you are an impressive one. this is significantly harder than you make it look. I don't use a treadmill tho I'd like to see someone just straight walk this.
Appreciate it so much! I would've died if I didn't walk indoors this day haha It was so hot and at one point, it poured
Congratulations! I also measured me 100,000 on a Fitbit. Love watching these videos. I decided to try the challenge because of watching videos like yours! Keep it up! 🙌🙌
Love the positive energy man, keep up the good work👍
Thank you! appreciate you checking it out
Great job dude!!!!! Absolute Legend!
Way to go man. We need a 2020 reboot.
It's my first day using a Fitbit and I've got 15,000 steps In a day
Keep it up!
GoldenEye Gaming awesome but you must be doing that everyday even before you used a fitbit for the first time.
I remember my first fitbit day, I play too much xbox and did about 2200 steps hahaha
It’s my first day, so far I have 16,000 steps and it’s 11:30 am. Who wants to challenge me on Fitbit?
@@machajohn That's nothing. I did 400 steps my first day. Mind you it was a holiday New Years Day and I probably I barely moved.
Just finished the Challenge myself. Walked from 05:30 in the morning until 11:00 at night (including brakes). Honestly the hardest thing i have ever done from 80k steps every single step was a huge battle.. Huge respect to anyone who completes the Challenge!!!
That was awesome! Way to go bud!!!!!
Hey thank you man!
Awesome video man! Gave me some motivation to get those steps in!
Thanks dude! Get out there!
Wow!!! You live in an absolutely gorgeous place👌👌🌲🌳🏡🏯🏰🌇🌆🌃
I had 82,000 steps when camping and went on a giant walk from 7am to midnight
daaaaang
Seriously this guy is a machine! Well done man 👍🏻
Really appreciate it! Hips and knees were on fire, but walking wasn't too too terrible
machajohn Well done 👍🏻
Watching in 2018 . You are so cool! And you make this look easy when I know it must not be!
Thank you! This was long ago but I remember it being fun to make and towards the end it did stop being fun haha
Great work man!👏👏
Thanks dude!
This is awesome! Do it again!
I'm tempted hahah
Ive been jogging and have recently been trying to get prepared for this challenge. And i just wanna say you seem so underrated like you completed 100,000 steps!? someone would have to be dumb to not sub for that. Also congrats on nearing 1k subs thats amazing. Peace!
Thanks for the love!
Wow! Great Job! 👍
Thanks! I think it's about time I do something like this again
I have done 100,000 steps in one day 3 times. Man it was quite an adventure. I have a Charge 2 fitbit. I did take breaks during these journeys. I hope to try another one in the near future sometime.
DUDE You're a beast!
I just did 53.000 today in about 7 hours walking. I am very impressed by your 100k
Thanks! I really should give this another go. It's been so long
That’s crazy. Good for you. I love a challenge. I just downloaded a tracker on my phone. I’m on day five of 10,000 steps. I didn’t think it was going to be this hard. Going to the gym 3-4 days a week is easier than this.
hahaha once you get in a flow, it's not super difficult!
Great Accomplishment 🎉🎈🎊
Thank you so much! This was a loooooong day haha
Awesome post, I am doing this in the morning and I am not sure I am starting early enough and I am starting at 4am.
How did it go?!
Loved the vid and subbed just wondering how many steps do you average a day?
Really appreciate it man! I've been sick for the past two weeks and have been slacking a lot for the past month or so, but back in my peak, I averaged around 22K per day. Hoping to get back into a regular flow with the new year
Man you are insane 😂keep it up!!!
This is awesome!
haha thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it
i just did 123,000 steps (54 miles) 9200 calories and 18 hours. Pretty rough on feet. shooting for 24 hour straight and 170,000
You're a god amongst us mortals
lol. horrible on feet and longest day ever
Congratulations! Very inspiring. I walk 6-8 miles daily. At the YMCA treadmill, indoor track, around soccer field, sometimes greenway, YMCA hiking trails. Last night I had reached 8 miles. One day last week 9 miles.I would like to walk a Kennedy 50 Mile Walk in a day as Bobby Kennedy Sr. did in 1963. Monday blood pressure was 140/82 resting pulse 64. Tuesday blood pressure was high but pulse was 52. According to cardiologist EKG was “great.” He should have pronounced great like Tony the Tiger did, “Grrrrrrrrrrr-ATE! I’ve been a lifelong Walker. In my teens often 20 miles in a day. I like the books “Fitness Walking” and “The Walker’s Journal “ by Robert Sweetgall.
I didn't think this was possible haha! Great job! I've only really gotten to about 30,000 :)
Haha everyone said I was crazy!
machajohn good jobs, better luck for next time, Cool.
I have a challenge at work coming up on wednesday so I'm watching you for inspiration
Yo bro! You have inspired me to do this myself. Btw what’s your Pokemon Go name ? 😂😂
Damn. I hit 30 k a bunch of times when traveling and being out all day all night. Didn't think it was possible to go beyond 50 k though ha
The Rad Ventures of Tintin haha my fiancée had once told me she didn't think I could do 50k so then I had to stick it to her haha
Definitely deserve more subs man!
Thank you! I appreciate that
Wow I was impressed getting 19.1k steps xD
Haven't done a challenge in a while! I need to get a new fitbit (mine's in bad shape) and then I need the weather to be warmer haha
that is impressive. watching videos like this doesn't help you see how good you actually are.
The most I've ever gotten was around 32k. That was the day that my family went Magic Kingdom and Epcot in the same day.
That must've been brutal! I haven't been in Florida in a while but I remember the humidity is killer
Yeah it was! It was extremely sticky. Thankfully, a lot of our time was spent waiting in the Space Mountain line, which was indoors. 😅Other than that it was pretty bad...
I was all about the indoor rides no matter how for-children it was because my friends and I were dying haha
I had this idea too but thought it would take much longer than you seem to have done it in. I take about 1 hour 35 minutes to walk 10000 steps and at that pace it would take me over 15 hours easy so I'm surprised it was still light outside for you when you completed it considering you obviously took some breaks too...but yeah, I guess you did it in the summer and started super duper early.
Yeah I walk a similar pace, but my early morning run for 2 hours put me ahead of schedule...and then I took breaks haha so it took a comparable time as if I i just walked straight.
I did 32000 steps today. I am obese 5'9 height and 110 kg weight. I did using samsung s health
Abhishek Bundela 110kg is over weight but it’s not obses.
good lord you're huge. if you lost about 40kg you could probably double your 32k.
@@fordaboiz8175 It's definitely obese. Maybe even close to Obese Class 2. Nevertheless, good job on walking so many steps. I was in your position once but at 5'10" 103kg
Like for real I still dunno how yuh put in 100,000 steps and it’s still day light... what time did yuh finish tho...? Great job regardless
It was about 7pm when I finished and it was July so the sun set at about 8-9ish
i got 32k in 6hrs. Im so proud of myself hope that i can make it to 60k in one day
Dang, you're well on your way
You shouldve had more footage of you walking and explaining how you felt during the 100k's, when you started to really hurt and you just pushing through the pain. I just tried this challenge myself. It is insanely painful, me and my brother were low on time as well and had to run 30 minutes each hour for the last 6 hours to finish of before midnight 😅
Dang, glad you both were able to do it though. To be honest, where I commented on how I felt in the afternoon was the only time my feelings changed on the whole thing. It was tiring, but uneventful. Time just passed and 6 hours of footage in a gym on a rainy day is terribly boring and repetitive haha Thanks for checking this out!
Ive walked 100,000 steps in a day 3 times. One on 12/12/17, 02/07/18, and 03/21/18. I hope to do it again for the 4th time soon.
daaaang that's badass
Wow , awesome video. That inspired me to push my stepping game up. New subscriber 😎 👍
Thank you! I appreciate the sub and hopefully when the weather gets warmer here, I can do something like this again
machajohn bro did you have any bad blisters? Ima be prepared, shoe gels extra socks lol
Nah no blisters, but I've only ever gotten blisters on my feet from time where I do sprinting (multiple soccer a games in an evening), but here I was doing mostly walking
machajohn oh okay now I see why you have a lot endurance for cardio training. Soccer ⚽️ 👍 and being slim fit. Pretty cool man. I got 30,000 steps in today. Going to build my way up and prepare for some grind it out days this summer. So take it you’re about 23 or 24 now cause of the class of 2013 banner? Lol I started lacking in my fitness after high school. I’m back in the groove tho.
I used to be more fit haha but yeah I'm a nice young 27
what fitbit do you have?
How did you record the 100,000 steps with your Garmin Vivoactive HR (including GPS) without running out of battery? I'll try the 100'000 steps at the beginning of August ;-)
Pascal Frey I used a Fitbit and that will usually get me through 2 days if I remember correctly and I stopped during lunch for an hour so I suspect I charged it anyway
Thank you very much for your answer.
I initially visited the following page www.inkin.com/blog/en/How-To-Make-100000-Steps-In-1-Day. This is about you, isn't it?
Then I discovered under point 2 (fitness devices, gadgets & apps) that you used a Garmin Vivoactive HR to measure your steps with GPS and heart rate. I was basically wondering how I could manage to record a GPS activity with my Vivoactive that lasts longer than 8 hours without running out of battery.
However, I am still looking for a way to achieve this.
this is dope dawg
Thanks dude!
This video is underrated ngl
CriticalGamer - Mobile thank you! It’s honestly so surprising to me that this video took off. I made it as like vlogging practice but people have really engaged with it. Thanks for checking it out
machajohn. Yeah man no prob. Hope you keep up the interesting content!
@@willsimms4 appreciate it thanks!
You are the 🐐 OMFG!!
appreciate that. Thanks!
Doing 50k steps every day for 9 days. Using this video for Inspiration for my next challenge.
how did that turn out?? I think my best week output was about 30k per day
@@machajohn @machajohn hey. Yer it was fine I was breaking it down into 3 walks a day and that makes it much more achievable. Each walk being around 2 hours. If you can do 30k a day then for sure you could manage it.
@@frankiepaul9869 word. Awesome you did it. My wife would get made I spent that much time walking haha
I’m thinking about trying 100,000 steps one day
The most I ever got was 51,146(actually got that yesterday!) second best being 50,162.
It seems like a good goal to accomplish, and very challenging I might add
What a wild fucking ride. I'm tired for you. My next goal is 25,000 steps. Seriously, great job!
hahaha you can do it! Also, great username haha
Very inspiring
Glad you think so! I haven't done this in a while and should probably revisit this
Well done man, great achievement think the 29 dislikes are jealousy or people who were bad at Pokemon go
haha Thank you! Still playing pokemon go til this day haha
Good job! Keep it up :D
Do you live in Wilmette Illinois?
Nah east coast of the US
Hey not trying to self promote and not sure if youll see comments on your old videos, but i remember watching this years ago and being inspired by it, i ended up putting it aside/forgetting about it, but i finally did the step challenge now and it was great fun! so thanks for the video idea and inspiring that it was fun
It's been so awesome to hear so many people have watch this video and then felt compelled to try it out for themselves! Glad you enjoyed this!
@@machajohn thanks also enjoyed the paris marriage surprise video :) keep up the good videos
@@Oidoy Thanks for checking out that one too!
This is actually like..a really good video lol
LOL. Being 100% truthful, I am honestly surprised that people think so. I didn't put a ton of thought or time into it as compared to other projects. But I think my general authenticity about the whole experience (i.e. lack of trying-to-make-this-cooler-or-more-excting) seems to resonate with people. Food for thought for me moving forward. Thanks for checking this out!
@@machajohn I watched some of your vids and I think u should really have more sub's I love your channel!
I’m at 31k steps right now! I’m going for 50k. Also I have a question, what time did you go to bed to wake up at 2:00 AM??
Hope you got it! and I can't remember exactly what time I went to bed, but I suspect it was somewhere around 9 or 10pm like I usually do. I'm just in a perpetual state of sleepiness
machajohn that’s cool! and I did make the challenge 👍
Fantastic
Thank you!
Now you have done this
Try and hit 150000 steps!
That's a big challenge
I've actually thought about this a lot over the past few weeks as I think about my video plans for 2018. So perhaps you'll see another step challenge. 150k sounds brutal though haha
machajohn
That's great!
Love your fitbit vlogs and you should do more with your fitbit
I enjoy watching your fitbit videos and I think everybody else enjoyed it as well
Keep up the good work
Were is it!
Liam Young is below freezing where I live!
In the summer or spring then
Yesterday I hit 50000
So happy
I just saw your video. You should do this once again. Maybe try 120k this time
a lot of people saying I should do this again
@@machajohn yes do it man
i avg about 40 thousand a day on my gear s2 keep up the great work bro
Thanks dude! I don't get out as much as I used to anymore. Hoping to get back into it more as the weather turns (hopefully soon)
you will just keep at it.
machajohn r u in Florida ?
Nah NJ
Props for this dude I'm tired after running a mile he ran 10 miles and I'm on ADHD
haha I'm honestly tempted to try it out myself again
I mean 50 miles
machajohn, lost 55 pounda this year, hit my goal weight at age 54,i avarage 33k steps a day.
That's so awesome! My time for getting steps each day has shrunk dramatically, but hopefully I can get back to a better routine soon
I did 50k steps yesterday and my legs are in pieces . 2 blisters on one foot and one on the other. Doesn't help doing it vans lol
hahaha vans most certainly not the best choice
7:00 you cant get steps from sitting on a treadmill you have to walk on it
lol you are correct
Olympic Sandal badge owners where you at?
hell yeah!
Thanks mate. I achieved 100000 steps took me from 1am to 6pm
awesome congrats
I am never going to do anything you done because I walked half way across the country (not really) really far though and only got 22,000
I don't know if I could do this again haha
im guessing you live in PA
close! NJ actually
I'm gonna attempt at least a step tomorrow
it always begins with one
That is almost 2 marathons if you think about it... holy shit!
Yeah distance wise it's almost that and most of it was walking but I pride myself on being able to suffer more than the average haha
@@machajohn im huge into fitness john and what most people dont realize is that if they did 20,000 steps a day they would be thin as a rail and in the best shape of their life without having to do all the stupid diets.... its very simple...
@@LivingtheLaptopLifestyle I find that my body responds to a mix of physical activity and not awful foods, but still mostly the physical activity. I know some people that have to be super strict with their diet though for similar effects
@@machajohn they wouldnt have to be near as strict with their nutrition if they moved 20k plus steps a day. the reason they have to be ultra strict is because they are not even coming close to 20k steps in a day. Remember John the average american gets between 3000-4000 steps per day! Yes you would have to be ultra stict with your diet if that is all the steps you did daily. You have to get steps in... the more steps, the more calories burned... the more calories burned the bigger caloric deficit... the bigger caloric deficit the more weight lost..... very simple...
@@LivingtheLaptopLifestyle no argument here! I always tell people that calorie out vs calorie in is always a good place to start when thinking about general fitness
I got to 30,000 steps yesterday
Great job!
your video is great
Thanks!
Nice job
Thank you so much
My most is 20,338 steps. But 100,000 is amazing
haha I'm just a guy trying to prove to my girlfriend wrong
I'm just over here shaking my fitbit
hahaha never give up
that's cute.
I’ve reached 22k
The most steps in a day i have got was 37,000 and like 300 or something like that. I wanma try and get 40000
Oh totally in the realm of possibility! You're right there. Let me know how it goes!
thats amazing my best is 30,000
I got 33,000 at a summer camp in a day
Question: is 10,000 steps a day enough to stay healthy?
steps alone won't make you healthy. Eating well is just as important as (maybe even more so than) being active. I will say that I feel 10,000 steps is enough to feel that you're not sitting on your butt all day
What's your email. I want to add you on fitbit and challenge you.
I hope we can compete you seem like you would be a decent challenge for me. I.just for mine and no one can beat me on a workweek challenge.
jmachacon14@gmail.com bring it on!
machajohn thanks
machajohn can you be my Fitbit friend? I invited you
Just saw it! Week/weekend has been shitty for me steps-wise, but I'll be back in the game on Monday
I try to do 100k in a week, with my Fitbit. I just started doing it, it’s Thursday and I’ve done 43,743 steps
once you get into a routine, I'm sure it'll get easier
Great
Nice! I walked 40,000 steps. And I could hit 100,000 in about a year from now or so
You can do it! I didn't train or anything for this. I just kept walking haha
machajohn can you add me as a Fitbit friend. My Fitbit name is Nick D
Added you last night!
Last month I walk 1.2 millions steps iam about to walk 1 millions steps again in July more than I did in June:)))
I hit 54 thousand steps in 9 hours, 18 months ago at the age of 59 years old, but i walk 50 miles most weeks.
That's awesome!
@@machajohn thank you
Got 125,210 steps yesterday
Imagine he did all this and the Fitbit was dead
Joel Stroschein funny enough (if I remember correctly), that was a legitimate worry of mine. At that point, my battery was lasting a little more than a day. When I had stopped for lunch, I put it on the charger for a bit and constantly monitored the battery afterwards. I also allowed the app to update often to make sure it synced the steps. This way if it did die, I could charge it back up and will have only not account for some nonzero (but not large) amount of steps
lets aim for 1M steps.....
LOL
great job the most i have ever gotten was 60,000 in a day
Thanks!
I doubt you ever got 60,000.
whats your fitbit bro plzzzzz challenge plzz😅
