- By popular request from catching every Spinda pattern, today we're going to see which game is the best for catching every letter of Unown. Unlike the last video, we're going to catch every pattern in every main-line Pokemon game that has them available. Let's find out which is the best of the best!

Someone should mention that it is impossible to find all shiny Unown in gen 2. Due to how shininess works, only I and V can be shiny.
Funny, as it is the Gen 2 equivalent of IVs that determines shininess in gen 2.
oddly enough, shinies in gen 2 depend on their IV's so only I and V are shinie, *MMMMMMMMMMMMMH*

So hunt in Crystal only need to find 2 shiny to catch all the possible shiny unown... also tune pokegear to unown signal to double the encounter rate
But tell me... Does theyr shiny counterparts have lower encounter rates than any other shiny? (in Gen IV)
Cuz I spent a lot (believe me, *A LOT* ) of time inside solaceon ruins, I caught all of the 26 unowns, got pokerus fighting unowns and went from lvl 12 to 77 with two pokemon defeating just them and I didnt found a single shiny one.
I'm starting to think that these 1atk 1sp.atk ev assholes dont shine.

Using the pokegear radio and tuning into the Unown signal in HG/SS makes the forms of Unown you don't have appear more often

Because in the versions the game is based off of you could not find all unown types right away and had to complete the different puzzles. Because in fire red in leaf green you dont have to do them anymore you really have a 1/26 chance to get the letter you want because its 1 out of 26 available variants. The way he said it in the video can be misleading somewhat but both statements are not based off each other.

I got all the unown in Platinum.
Sadly, I was 11-12, and not so crude back then, so I didn't think to use the capsule seals to swear at my opponents.
I did. Used my Chatot to swear at my opponents too.
"FUCK YOU" and "DO DRUGS" made a comeback in my BDSP run of course

@@grottosstuff Yeah, starting your battle against Cynthia's Garchomp by throwing out your starter in a ball that screams 'FUCK YOU!' in giant letters when it opens is an experience you're unable to replicate in any game since... probably for that exact reason, actually.
I remember getting all Unowns in Pearl and from what I recall it really wasn’t that bad since there’s like 5-6 unowns per room.
Ball capsules were one of my favorite features. I miss them.

Update for anyone curious: As of 2022, Legends Arceus is by far the easiest and most interesting way to go about getting all of the unown. They all appear as static encounters hidden around the map and you have to figure out their locations through your Pokedex. No need to battle or go through a million encounters for one specific letter!
So who else caught them in order just to have the Unown Mode show them in the proper order?
Yeah ... As a kid, I was so proud of registering them all in the Unown Dex in alphabetical order in Pokemon Crystal XD
Of course, I opened up all 4 areas to gain access to them all first before I started catching them all.
I remember catching Unown (and befriending them in Mystery Dungeon Blue Rescue Team) and I didn't understand how they worked xD

I did this as a kid to make my Silver game last longer, I'd pretty much maxed it out and I was desperate to have new things to do. I don't remember it taking very long though!

My favorite reward for catching all the unown in Diamond and Pearl was if you transferred them into Pokémon Ranch, there would be a chance for a cut scene every 15 minutes where the unown would lay around like a keyboard and then sound off from a through z. I thought it was really cool when it happened.

I just wanna say, 3:11 brought back memories of making the _exact_ same mistake myself playing Silver.
Actually the easiest game to shiny hunt them in was gold/silver, because there were only 2 unown that could be shiny: I & V.
I remember in G/S collecting them all since the playground rumor was "Collect every Unown letter, then play that weird radio station when in the ruins of Alph and there is a super duper ultra rare chance of a level 5 Celebi appearing in the ruins.
I still remember how pissed I was as a kid that collecting all the unknown in gold and silver got you nothing, I thought I was clever and finding a secret, turns out I was just a sucker collecting garbage

I did this in Crystal just this week, actually. I laughed at the fact that I could go into the Ruins of Alph & catch A-K before I even got my first badge, so I did exactly that, and after that it wasn't difficult to come back for the rest later.

Unown have always gave me this sense of mystery, all the way back to Gold/Silver, and Pokémon crystal. I remember catching them all and it’d always felt like there’d be more to it, like something was supposed to happen. so I’d go back to the ruins, In every version. It just felt like something was supposed to happen, like there’s some sort of secret waiting to be discovered even if there’s no information on the supposed event on the internet.
It's funny- I always tried to catch the whole alphabet on my first playthrough of the games they were in. When I randomly found the ! one I was actually shocked that I discovered something my friends hadn't done yet or took the time to do.
Such... humble times. I miss them.

I have done the Shiny Unown Dex specifically in Alpha Sapphire, with the shiny charm. It took nine months. Of more or less daily hunting.
So it'd likely take years in the older generations.

I mean, pretty sure it took me the better part of a summer back in the day. I remember playing in the ruins with my friends, and being legit spooked at night.
7:20 Why are you using the bike instead of running? Running is as fast in such a short space because bike needs to accelerate, while running is instant top speed. Not only that, recovering from running into a wall is much faster the recovering from cycling into a wall.

I've done this challenge in Platinum and HeartGold. In HeartGold & SoulSilver if you play the Pokégear inside the Ruins of Alph, it'll play the "Mysterious Transmission" and having that playing will increase your chances of encountering a forme of Unown you haven't caught. I think this feature makes HeartGold & SoulSilver the easiest game to catch all of them. Also, in my last playthrough of HeartGold, I was trying to get all of the Unown, and I found a shiny Unown D.

Did it and catch all of 'em in Soul Silver! Till this day very proud of this achievement! :P

I caught them all in Silver (Virtual Console) for my Complete living Dex (Forms, variations, patterns, colors and major gender differences included) and trade afterwards for ! and ? forms, it took me a long time because they're rare in GTS and always asked for legendaries, i didn't know you could catch them all in Omega Ruby, great video!

I really like the Unown. They have that classic Pokémon charm; makes me think of how Pokémon used to be in the 2000s. (Even though I never played any of the GBA/DS games.)
I don't know how to describe it. It's just a type of charm that makes me smile and feel happy.
