  • The planned detonation of a silo in southern Denmark went spectacularly wrong on April 6 when the silo fell in the opposite direction intended. Nobody was injured as the 53-metre silo at Vordingborg Harbour fell, but it damaged a small section of an adjacent library.

    Bummer. Hate when that happens.

The failure in the fall is clearly seen in the video, a crash cut was made to this cylindrical silo, so that it did to the expected right side, but that same cut was the one that made it go to the side. left opposite, since, at the time of the explosion, the fall cut was weakened causing the silo to fall straight down and not to the expected side, then to fall, it bounces (due to the cut that it had) in the rest of the silo inclined to the opposite side !!!, This happens a lot in the felling of trees. Final conclusion: the failure in the direction of the fall was due to the rebound of the upper part of the silo in its lower part, and whose cut favored the erroneous inclination. There is also a detail, the fall cut was in a relatively high position with respect to the ground, this gave opportunity to a better rebound of the top part. Good for the next one !!!

So it collapses on the side that had the *least* explosives, not on the side with the *most* explosives...
