  • In this video I review three beard oils currently available on the Irish market.
    It's L'Oréal BarberClub vs Bulldog vs Cien Men's Care Club!
    I've chosen one cheap oil, one medium priced oil and one more expensive oil to see how they stack up against one another.
    You get to see my honest reaction to each one as it's the first time trying all three. I rate them on packaging, scent and feel and reveal my favourite at the end.
    Have you tried any of these oils? Be sure to let me know your thoughts in the comment section below!

    I think the biggest and most attractive reason I like to use yours is because I can see you making it yourself and what’s in it with your Instagram. There’s just something so satisfying about having an organic and “clean” product for your beard. Thanks mate.

    Competition is good for the consumer so this is a nice idea Colin, I'm sure your customers will appreciate the insights into beard oil alternatives - Was surprised to hear you mention alcohol and perfume in the Cien oil, that would tear the face of me now for sure. I suppose it just goes to show, price isn't always an indication of quality (no dig at yourself by the way as I like your products a lot) and it pays to look at ingredients before you buy something (I guess this applies to everything you consume or put on your body, something I must start paying more attention toward).
    👍

    • @westcorkbeardcompany
      @westcorkbeardcompany  Před 2 lety

      100% agree! Bulldog was a better oil that L'Oréal in my opinion and there was a €3.50 price difference. The key like you said is to look at the ingredients. Too many well known brands just mass manufacturing a poor quality oil and marketing it like crazy then

    Good video. Interesting to hear about the oils being watery and not absorbing, that's definitely not been the case with the brands I've used. I did see a lad in a beard group saying he'd run out of his favourite product and bought that L'Oréal one - he got plenty of slagging then 😂

    I keep a bottle of bulldog in the back of cupboard as an last resort if I run out of oil, or am waiting on my order.
    Its definitely worth spending a bit more on oil though, can tell the quality difference straight away

    • @westcorkbeardcompany
      @westcorkbeardcompany  Před 2 lety

      That's a good strategy as it is a decent oil. If they just tweaked the scent a bit I would enjoy it a lot more. Thickness and colour are key for me with beard oil

    I suffer with psoriasis on my face, one of the reasons I grew the beard out was to hide it but I've used many oils over the years and honestly your brand sandalwood and juniper Berry is the best personally for me and works great. Its after treating my psoriasis a lot too which is brilliant for me. I used the L'Oréal one and it burnt the face off me for days... Great video but they're nothing compared to your brand

    Late on this but great review. I've got a very long a rugged beard and had no issues the last seven years but the last 6 months I've been suffering from dry flakey itchy skin under my beard. Tried a lot of beard oils from low budget to high and found bulldog works the best for me. Still get a bit of flakey skin from time to time hence me looking for something else but bulldog definitely a good product for great price.

    I have always wanted to buy your products, but I live all the way in the United States and am nervous about the products will be affected by the different movements/temperatures it will go through because it’s quite a distance. Any advice on that? Aside from that, I’m a big fan of your videos!

    • @westcorkbeardcompany
      @westcorkbeardcompany  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you! I ship to the states quite a bit and never had an order reported damaged thankfully. If the products freeze then the quality isn't lost. If you live in a place that regularly gets temperatures over 30 degrees C then the beard balm and butter may melt so I wouldn't choose those 👍🏾

    Great video Colin, I've used the Bulldog oil before and found it pretty good. It's the one I'd recommend if you want to keep the cost under €10, but definitely worth the extra few euro to buy yours!

    I’ve seen below that you don’t think King C beard oil, wash and balm would be good. However, what do you think about Percy nobleman?
    I’m in need of a starter balm, oil and wash.
    Also what’s your thought of using face washes on beards. Beards that are roughly the same length as yours in this video?
    Thanks

    • @westcorkbeardcompany
      @westcorkbeardcompany  Před 2 lety

      In my opinion all those mass produced products are not good for your skin or beard...just compare ingredients. I've never tried Percy Nobleman so I can't comment on that. A face wash would be too harsh for a beard just like a regular shampoo. A beard product should be made especially for beards using ingredients that actually improve the health of your beard

  • @GenWivern2
    @GenWivern2 Před 2 lety +1

    Very public spirited once again, thanks. I'll own up to being a Bulldog user, mainly because it's easily available and that rare thing: a product which is actually substantially cheaper here in England (my last bottle was £3.50 or thereabouts). Somewhere along the line I've got it lodged in my head that the scent is supposed to be oakmoss. It does seem to do the trick, as does the notorious "balm", but an upgrade is definitely on the cards now that the beard is at the garden gnome stage. :-)

    • @westcorkbeardcompany
      @westcorkbeardcompany  Před 2 lety

    Hey Colin. I buy beard oil from your company because of the natural ingredients. I find that most of the ones in the supermarkets have chemicals in them that are not good for your skin. Mass production doesn’t suit beard oil IMO. It’s something you need to spend the money on for your own benefit. Your cinnamon and black pepper is my favourite. Must try the beard soap the next time!

    • @westcorkbeardcompany
      @westcorkbeardcompany  Před 2 lety

      Thank you! 🙏🏾 I agree that beard oil does not do well made in massive batches unless the ingredients are top notch. Hopefully more people will start looking at ingredients rather than being dazzled by good marketing and nice packaging

  • @keithbaker8189
    @keithbaker8189 Před 6 měsíci +1

    To be fair. Loreal states 2 to 3 drops depending on the length of your beard. You used approx 6 drops so it would be greasey. I go by the bottle instructions and it's not greasy in my opinion.

    • @westcorkbeardcompany
