How he can still run for president is mind-blowing
Sadly, he represents a lot of people who call themselves Christian, people who would soundly reject what Rev. Ed is saying here.
Because he is the best con artist that ever existed and he tells many people what they want to hear. Without an audience he is nothing and he makes sure that he always has an adoring audience adn for that he has to entertain them and promise the moon.
He has elevated himself through his audience to superman hero and world savior and some even compare him to the "Second Coming".
That ANYONE would vote for him, is even more mind-blowing!

I would rather have any migrant family move in next door (I live in a townhouse so we are connected) than any member of the Trump family or cult.

Every migrant family I've known (I know 9 such families) has worked their @$$ off to make something of themselves, to start off working as a janitor but becoming a manager at the same company 7 years later. To go to college, to impart good values to their kids, to help a neighbor when needed.

The huge problem with the internet is that it is so easy to communicate badly and anonymously. Spreading conspiracy theories, bullying, defrauding people has never been easier. Now, more than ever, we need to carefully consider what we are saying and to whom we are saying it. This goes doubly for people in leadership or potential leadership positions.

That is not quite true, regarding Trump "joking." What he says in what seems to him like jest is VERY revealing.
Back in the 1990s, he was welcoming a new executive in the Trump Organization, who happened to be from Germany. Trump praised him for being a "true German" who was "neat and clean." And then he turned to the executives who happened to be Jewish and said this:
‘You better watch out for this guy, he sort of remembers the ovens.' and then he smiled.

One disturbing connection here is that even if you were to take the excuse of “he’s just joking/having fun” at face value, you then have to confront the fact that they think it’s funny/fun to joke about forced immigrant gladiatorial combat in the first place. Also, join the Democrat party and get in Ranked Choice voting and proportional representation, give Washington DC voting representation and Statehood to Puerto Rico. Each time I think that Trump has finally reached the fullest depths of his hatred (and, of course, whipped his worshipers into a hateful frenzy over whatever it is) he continues to surprise me. If a liberal came out with bigoted cruelty like this, conservatives would have a fit, but if Angry Orange Jesus Substitute says it, they treat it as though it were a good idea.

I know of no one who "worship" Trump. That is a left-wing fable. MAGA is not a cult MAGA consist of Americans who have grown tired of the corrupt establishment screwing over the American Citizen. I have a confession to make. This morning's scripture from Ephesians was like a flaming arrow to the heart. A friend and I were talking online and we jokingly laughed how another friend was getting a Buddha belly and maybe he was trying to copy our 3rd friend's husband who is extremely rotund. We're all good friends and it was said as a joke with no malice. However our 3rd friend took it as an insult and got really upset. So today's scripture and topic was a timely message that ALL words matter, that what may seem like harmless and innocent banter to some may hurt someone else's feelings. So my friend and I each ate a large slice of humble pie and apologized for hurting her feelings. Lord Jesus, thank you for speaking to me through Rev. Ed today. I confess my sin to you and ask for Your forgiveness. Help me, through your Word and Holy Spirit to always speak and act appropriately so your light shines through me. Amen. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

I’m doing all I can as well. I’ve given up other interests so I can give as much time as possible before November. My favorite videos to share are those from Republican Voters Against Trump who have former Trump supporters explaining why they no longer support him. I truly believe they are some of the most powerful tools we have to defeat Trump and his ilk in November!

His supporters claimed he was joking during the 2016 campaign. After he took office, we learned to our horror he had indeed, NOT been joking. He has no sense of humor.

Fear is the greatest tool of the manipulative.
That kind of "joking" is generally representative of what someone actually believes. It's like the person who says something incredibly racist or misogynist and when "called on it" says "I was just joking." They believe that way but let it slip to the wrong audience, so they try to walk it back.
When I first heard this, all I could think of was the use of gladiators in Rome who were hoping they could survive and win citizenship. (And that led me to thinking about the early Christians and how they were also used as spectacle in Rome.)
Some things are inappropriate for "joking" and that goes along with the Ephesian passage in this video.

You are absolutely right, I've seen it a lot on the other side as well, Democrats making fun of Trump and his followers. Even though it's tempting, I agree, it's not the best reaction either. It won't help people to listen to each other again and to respect each other. So I think this is a very good reminder, especially these days, when everything political gets heated and out of control so quickly.
Hi Rev Ed.Always love your messages. I know I am a lot more careful about what I say, simply because there are something’s that just should not be joked about. And those who choose to make “jokes” of that sort are lazy and picking low hanging fruit. I am so very tired of the excuse of “I was joking”. More times than not I believe, it’s a convenient backpedal when pushback comes.
This latest issue sounds a little gladiatorial. I have no doubt that if he could do it he would. Just like I have no doubt that he makes fun of disabled people, can make claims that there are good people on both sides of horrific ideals etc etc, these are snapshots of the real person and not an attempt at humor. Yes… it fires up his base, but the base sees it as an affirmation of their own ideas and not like … oh… ha ha… he’s funny.
Being presidential requires a high degree of responsibility. You absolutely need to conduct yourself in a different way than the average person. You’re right, his words are on the world stage, and as a result, America is viewed as the conduct of the president is viewed.

HE is a hard act to follow but some actually keep making the attempt.
WHEN a whole group of people get turned around drawn to the acquisition of power and worship a person on Earth instead of our Lord Jesus and God the Father, I should feel for them. Want them to turn from these ways. Part of me does and I pray for Trump all the time to be truly touched by God, to maybe open that Bible and read a few pages.
