Here is my unboxing and first look at the Lenovo YOGA Slim 7X laptop for 2024. This is one of a few brand new Windows Laptops running on Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon X Elite CPU that supports Copilot AI features. Will this be your next laptop?

Not only is the 7x very great value for what it is, Lenovo also doesn’t overcharge for ram and storage. So you won’t have to sell your left kidney if you want 32gb ram and 1tb ssd 👍

Completely agree. This appears to be the X Elite laptop to beat.

@extremetech7096 The RAM is soldered, so it can not be upgraded. The ssd can be upgraded, though.

@@cyrilc189 this is true, next year super thin CAMM memory modules for thin and lights should allow upgrades if Qualcomm allows their partners to use it but their motherboards need upgrading or you need to desolder and resolder.
I think Qualcomm will allow it since unlike apple they don't sell the hardware just the chip so there is no incentive to price guoge and they are the underdog trying to get estAblished and upgradeable memory even one slot would give it a huge advantage over apple and and Intel thin ai laptop chips.
And potentially help.perf9rmance and customer satisfaction long term.
Good thing is lenova currently is charging $69 for 16gb more to get you to 32gb a no brainier since ram is shared between the npu coungpu and operating system.
Apple charges $200 for each 8 gb more only up to 24gb.
The other good thing is 16gb 512 ssd is standard, apple is still stuck at 8gb and slow soldered 256gb ssd standard.
So basically for apple you need to add $400 immediately, there's no touch screen fewer ports it's heavier 60hz and no OLED.

Anyone who doesn't know this device doesn't actually have the same chip as the surface pro-11. Surface pro 11 has the 80-100 x elite VS Lenovo's is the 78-100 which is the model that doesn't dual core boost

From what I've read it's not a 2 in 1 like you mentioned in the video. This would truly be the greatest if it was.. and especially if it had a silo for a pen.

I bought this because it's the best ARM based laptop for this new generation, the only think I don't like about Lenovo, as I have one for work, is they pick up finger prints really easy and you're always having to wipe them down. If they would fix that and go to more of a full metal outside, they would be best in class imho.

This is the one I want to get because of 32GB RAM option and 1 TB NVMe drive its the cheapest option. If you want the same on a Surface it's over $2,000 USD ... and if you want the same for Apple almost $3K 😂

Is the OLED burn in something to be concerned about for the screen? Other than that, I think this is the best offering for new snapdragon laptops at the moment. Will wait for your full review. Subbed.

the laptop supports 65w but it's pushing up to 87 watts like that's a concern. It the laptop needs more power then it will definitely drain the battery. If it needs that much power then they should include a 100w power brick.

That is one main reason I am still considering a Surface Laptop. Haptic touchpads make a huge difference and Lenovo can bump the price by 50 or even 100 USD, but give haptic touchpad.

@@prk3437 What's the huge difference? I tap when using touchpads - I do not press on them. As such, I can tap, pinch to zoom, whatever I want anywhere on the trackpad. So a haptic trackpad would just be an unnecessary extra expense, IMHO.

    • @prk3437
      @prk3437 Před 19 dny

@@larryb4392 It just comes down to usability. Once you use haptic, you might not want to go back. But I external mouse like 80-90% of the time so it is not a deal breaker for me, but after using one from the SL 7 at a shop, I decided to go haptic only. It was just so smooth and perfect. And, as they don't contain any physical switches, they should be more durable maybe.
