Cheers for the shout out Alex. :) Have to say I never used deep much when I ran a lite, firstly it was hard to get it stable on the land I was on, but I just felt that it didn't give me enough info and I'm not disciplined enough to switch programs, I always ended up back in hot. Fair play for sticking with it.
As much as I like a display to tell me what to expect. In all honesty, you can generally tell what's coming by the tones, it just takes time & experience.

The Deep program is powerful and large Iron will give a loud good signal on any program, but if you lift the coil or back it away from the target you should get the iron buzz or grunt. Also on good deep targets, using the Hot program it may sound good quiet with an iron buzz, this is possible because the target is just going out of range of the Hot program, all signals will eventually turn to iron the deeper they are in the soil
I find the power program is a good compromise. Good depth and I can differentiate the tones. I find the hot is not deep enough, where I mainly detect the land has not been plowed since 1865.
Thanks Douglas i will give it a try - I agree with your findings on the hot programme - I tend to lower the reactivity to 2.5 or 2 nd that definitely gives a better audio response from deeper targets... hope all well!
I've got a full deus and a equinox 800 like a lot of people , They are both good in different ways , Personally I've never found anything deep with the deus ,But the equinox is super deep . If I had to choose one it would definitely be the equinox , But I dont have to choose so I'll be keeping both .

I know it would distract me too much checking the screen and the numbers all the time... 3 and a half years learning to use my ears I might as well use my learning! I have talked extensively to the boys at Regtons about this too - i will prob get it eventually but I like just listening and letting my mind wander a bit ... Hope all well!

You should go through your comments and count the number of people who are going to the LITE because of your videos.. I've personally seen quite a few... Who knows maybe XP will sponsor you?
Hi Justin - most the time yes, i would; especially if the frequency is not too high; I find the "softness" of the lowish tone is the give away though small bits can still be deceiving! Fortunately i am not often on very cokey ground...

If you want to avoid coke you really need a full deus ,Coke gives a lovely sound but a screen will tell you its coke .
