Welcome back to ProGuitarShop.com, where we're taking a look at the heavy side of the Palisades from Earthquaker Devices. With 2 rotary switches for Bandwidth and Voice, toggles for input buffer and brightness and footswitchable A&B Gain and Boost, you can take this pedal far beyond your old Screamer's boundaries. EQD voiced the B Gain specifically for higher gain and it will produce tighter, more harrmonically charged tones, even when lower than the A Gain. Doom or fuzzy Stoner Rock textures can also be dialed in with a high Bandwidth setting, which hits the front of the Palisades' circuit with all the low end available from your guitar signal.
That floating head plays guitar pretty good
+Gear Gods LOOOOOOL!!!
What guitar
Holy hell! Any time a demo starts with Mastodon, I know it's going to be awesome!
WHITE
WHALE
HOLY
GRAIL
Fuck yeah with the Mastodon!
AND MELVINS! MASTODON AND MELVINS FUCK YEAH BEST BANDS EVER
the last thing i would think that andy would play!! right on mastodon
right and he fuckin kills it too lol
I heard the intro and a harpoon just manifested in my hand. I'm a little confused, but I dig it.
Had to intro with the mastodon. So good.
I just got one yesterday and just love it, perfect rock tones, sounds sweet, deleted 3 pedals on my board, I now just use this and a delay
Can you engage the channels separately? Or you activate the pedal and changing channel after that? thx!
Oooooooooooh. That intro. Sold me. This will someday hopefully be my pedal.
Never thought I'd see the day Andy played Melvins.
"SET ME STRAIGHT". Best Demo ever.
Break your backs and crack your oars, men! Sweet pedal, it's much more organic sounding than I thought it would be. Will consider it!
Mastodon AND melvins! Killer.
How are you supposed to know if something is bad if Andy makes them all sound good? They should replace him.
Hell that's funny !!!
Xavi Aguilar they're merchants. it's their job to sell them and yes they have to make it sound good. apparently good. i think every riff and song must fit with the given setting. try diff. riff on the same setting, will eventually sounds bad in such cases.
he was joking....
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Amazing Demo. Kudos for Mastodon and Melvins.
Mastodon and Melvins are two of the greatest bands ever who start with the letter M.
OK I own this pedal. Bought it after watching this video. Mastodon in a box through a deluxe! And it is. It' has a couple of issues. First as you can see better in other videos getting the levels right when you stack the drives is pretty tricky. Mostly just set the first drive and find the darkness and clarify you want with balancing clupping. It tends to stay at 2 and you dial the bandwidth. The problem comes when you stack this with other pedals. Just really hard to layer this in with say a Klon style pedal or a fuzz. The levels have to be tweeked. It will hiss as well. For live I just don't want to have to tweek it..the buttons on mine are way to stiff and make engaging a conmitment and again live you can hit the middle at some point only to discover this when you engage the main right button. Same can be true of the boost. It will happen once a show. Big feet? It lost it"s space on my performance board. To many amazing drive pedals in this price point. Obviously analogman, even an OCD play well with the stack. I would pass on it if I had been able to trial it.
ADD TO CART
you had me at Blood & Thunder
that freaking blood and thunder riff. never fails to make me want to punch all the things.
I THINK THAT SOMEONE IS TRYING TO KILL ME jug jug jug jug jug jug jug jug jug jug jug jug fuck yea
MELVINS!
The best demo of this pedal on you tube, all the other videos make this pedal sound like bees.
i own this this pedal and i gotta say i was skeptical but pleasantly surprised - great tube screamer type pedal
Thank you for playing more than just the intro riff for Blood and Thunder
this guy is so fucking good
Lovely rendition of Blood and Thunder, love it
Great another large EarthQuaker Devices pedal that I need to buy and don't have room for on my board... I have to admit their pedals are phenomenal.
Massive tone for a massive song. I defiantly approve!
Blood and thunder!!...... Sick playing Andy
Dat picking though 4:05
I loved that interval thing.
Melvins... very nice.
What a great way to start an Andy video! Mastodon!
Good Lord, I love this pedal!!
Yeah blood abd thunder!!
Hell yes, Andy! You're awesome, as always, but this takes the proverbial "cake"!
All hail the Melvins!
I already want this pedal just because of Andy playing Blood and Thunder.
At tbe beginning of this video I wasn't sure I liked the pedal, but then you had me at Blood and Thunder.
Oh wait...
Best Screamer out there.
Fuck yeah, rocking some Mastodon! Love that pedal, I just wish it went heavier than that, but that may be asking for too much...
This is the balls...
New item on the wishlist!!! :-)
hell yeah andy ,that was great .
The Melvins!! Awesome
Second riff is "Set me Straight" by the Melvins.
Blood and thunnnnda! Love it
Andy playing Mastodon? I have to get the pedal now.
Well, awesome demo, how about a lesson on that opening song? :)
Blood and Thunder by Mastodon. Badass song, but it's pretty simple.
I THINK THAT SOMEONE IS TRYING TO KILL ME
HELL YEAH BLOOD AND THUNDER!
What is the song he plays at 4:20 ?
SOLD
mastodon!
Man, was surprised to find I thought it sounded remarkably better when he switched to the hagstrom in blood and thunder
I want a demo of it going into the front of a Marshall
Trying to decide between getting this or a ts9 and BE-OD for my heavy sounds. I wonder what's more diverse, but this sure does sound good
Does anybody know whose song is the last one he plàys?
Wow, that finger picking on the minute 4:05... two or one finger (not much into finger picking, but trying to introduce myself into it)?
just got this im playing through a heavily customized Schecter C-1 Classic equipped with Nazgul/ Sentient pickups. The lowest settings produces a fuck ton of saturation. this thing responds to Hotter pickups like crazt. im gonna switch back in my BKP aftermaths and see whats up. who said the only thing good out of Akron was tires.,,.
ROCK ON
YES!
Holy blood and thunder
Ah... Andy Martin, I'm into you!
A tube screamer that does Mastadon... holy shit!
bandwidth aren't input caps! they are bandwidth caps in the IC feedback where its clipping.
What's the song at 4:21?
Melvins!
nice!! MASTODON
Nice
Mastodon!!!!
I'm wondering if you could get most of these sounds on the Dunes overdrive...
can you have the Gain B a side from the Activate button? or you gotta press it first to get the Gain B?
tattotoro you can activate the B side first then when you push the activate button you go straight to gain B
Churchhouse Creepers thanks!
I THINK THAT SOMEONE IS TRYING TO KILL ME!! XD
Mastofreakingdon!
How much does this dude cost? Will it hep get a huge Hendrix- Stevie Ray type tone with a Strat into Fender amp?
I bought this pedal and it is INTENSE. A little much for my funk blues band. With the A gain at zero its still a lot. So be warned. Definitely not as tame as a tube screamer.
Couldn't you just clean it up with your volume knob on your guitar?
What are the 2 songs after Mastodon? Are they both The Melvins?
,2:40 MELVINS, YEAH!!
what the fuck is he playing !!! Summoning the gods for fucks sake.
Mastodon- Blood and Thunder from the album Leviathan
what are the names of those other songs that Andy plays?
How does this pedal sound in front of a high gain amp?
Nice playing but the tone is somehow odd.. I think it sounds like it would be played with neck pickup :o missing something.
Yeah, it's a little bright. Still, good playing.
Michael Craft
funny, sounds on the dark side to me.
If you look at most of the review done by Andy, he has that sort of "Odd tone" regardless of what guitar amp or effects he uses. It's always baffled me.
I think it's because he doesn't use a pick. Metal riffs sound weird without one IMO
\m/ \m/ Go Andy!! Nice sounding pedal.
Andy is a great guitar player...but it drives me nuts that his demos are without a pick because *most* guitarists play with a pick. And it just doesn't sound the same. Without a pick, it all sounds like varying degrees of fuzz.
I have to disagree... I I appreciate the pick-less-ness. But that's probably because I mostly play without one. :)
i think its in the tube amp. one cant do this on a solid state. its the touch sensitivity of a tube amp plus the analog-ness of a pedal and the undeniable skill of andy. you gotta watch his clip regarding this pickless technique entitled "the scoop - picking techniques"
Song at 2:57 please?
Idk if its just my ear but his tones always sound so muffled to me.
What's the intro song?
The first song is called Blood and Thunder by Mastodon.
supermario2100 Thanks!
Hits the woman tone right on the head
Shut up and take my money!
Dude get the FOCK out of here 1:10 you go to detail lengths of playing Brents part with fingers and Bills part with a pick, this guy knows his stuff
Heavy ?..
Would this pedal sound ok with a Fender Blues Deluxe?
Semper Fi definitely
Why do you say definitely?
Is there any real metal guitarist who can test this unit with heavy settings properly?Do not get me wrong, this is nice playing etc,but style of playing and phrases has got nothing to do with word heavy.I`m very curious to find out how it works with metal, modern metal also not just 80thies Ozzy riffs and stuff like that. And of course without alternative, grunge, stoner stuff. Just metal test please.Best regards.
Josh YOSH How do you on earth know my tone?Metal music is multi sub-genre music, and to say"that is that tone"would be pretty ridiculous. There are tones of different hi gain sounds out there and this video presentation is simply not one of them.I just suggested to see and hear how this pedal works with some tough playing and more aggressive modern amps also like 5150 etc...
Since screamer pedals are most common to use in front of metal amps It would be nice to hear what it can offer more than lets say Maxon OD-9 or Ibanez TS808...
I think you are looking for distortion pedal, not an overdrive... at least on a clean amp anyways.
The point with this pedal is that it is like having x number of different OD pedals in one unit.
For what you are looking for though... I think if you put this in front of any high-gain amp to boost and shape a little and you'll be knocking down barns. =)
IMO... when it comes to metal, dirt pedals don't really cut it with the exception of shaping or adding layers. You really need a high gain amp, no pedal gives a Rectifier or 5150 style head a run for the money.
so in one pedal you have multiple combination of sounds. cool. not so cool if you want to punt it into a midi system. WHY IS IT SO COMPLICATED TO INSTALL A GODDAMN MIDI IN-OUT PORT????
ha. For some reason guitar pedal manufacturers have never heard of midi. We're only now starting to get it with people like strymon etc. ridiculous really.
Heavy fingers.
If Andy learns to play drums and sings (he probably does) we should all quit
Sounds awful.
I don't understand the point of these boxes?
Just buy an amp with the gain you need and be done with it.
Ah... Andy Martin, I'm into you!
