- Sorry for the wait yall!! This tutorial had so many different things I had to film. I hope this is the in-depth tutorial you all wanted! Obviously the sewing part is gonna be different for each head, but maybe you can see the order of steps i took and learn an idea of how to do it on your own head.
Let me know if anything here was confusing!
As well as commenting other tutorial ideas :3 I can only make tutorials on stuff I'm currently commissioned to make, so some stuff will only come later. The next paws I'm sewing together is sometime in October 2020 or so, and I don't have the time to make and film a pair until then, so unfortunately that tutorial will have to wait.

Honestly, I'm not even a furry, nor do I really ever look into this kind of stuff, but no matter what, I have to give credits to people who make fursuits and such. Considering this was only just *part* of the suit is insane, and I'm sure you all have a ton of work to do when it comes to such. The effort and detail you put into it is amazing. I applaud you!
Thank you so much omg! Yeah, nothin wrong with appreciating craftsmanship XD Thank you so much for checking it out!!! Have a wonderful day!

How have I learned more about sewing watching this than in my actual sewing class? Wack. But thank you so much for the tutorial
Youre so welcome haha, I swear classes dont teach you enough stuff sometimes. You know, I never got to take a sewing class in school. All self taught :/ anyway thank you so much!!! hope you can take some of this knowledge into your own crafts!
@@freckledcatcreations yep, i had one recently (ive known how to sew for 4.5 years) and my teacher did everything wrong, she didnt know how to thread a hand sewing OR machine sewing needle and always knotted it. She also told us to "make giant stitches to save thread. Non of our stuff held up because she bought that cheap plastic thread that fruit companies use for the net.
people: gotta hide that I’m a furry!
My parents: oo look that’s nice what your making
seriously, just be like 'im making a mascot costume' and it's more widely accepted to 'normal' people. it's mostly when you call it a furry that they get all weird about it. but anthro animals have been a thing for sooo long. people are more accustomed to them than they'd think!
Yeah they were rude when I said I wanted to try making ONE FRICKING SET OF HANDPAWS
Edit: they means my family
@@violetfantasy2537 awh. My moms pretty chill and I’ve made a head before but not using proper techniques so it’s kind of messy, and I made it from stuff I found in my closet from when I used to sew stuff a lot. I asked my mom for foam with my joannes gift card and she asked what it was for so I said I’ll show her when it’s done. I still haven’t shown her my first head, though, so it is possible to keep it a secret, I’m just practicing to get good enough so that when I show my mom she’ll think it’s really amazing and not scary.
@@arket-7160 well I started making one in secret, they found out and were surprising ok with it. So now it’s alright with them ig
I'm lucky. My mom is supportive and I think she seems to like the idea of me being creative. I wish other people's parents were supportive of their children's hobbies.
The fur shaving is the most satisfactory part!
oh seriouslyyyyy. i love when i get to do the shaving.
I bought some pre shaved fur.. some! I still have some fluffy fur :)
Ah this stage, the stage I always tossed my heads aside cause I couldn’t do it :( I have 3 mangled foam heads in my basement I gave up on. I might retry cause this tutorial is amazingggg
Oh no! Sorry to hear that ): But I hope my tut helps you in the future!!!! You can do it!!!
Keep trying and keep your head up don’t forget that you try your hardest on you’re foam head so keep trying!
Your tutorials are so easy, and understandable, you don't even talk and I get the point . I wanna make fursuits and I feel confident watching your videos . Thank you so much you deserve more credit
I'm so glad you appreciate it!! I'm really shy and would rather caption my videos for the hard of hearing folks haha! And having a visual instruction is easier to skip back to if you're trying to find a specific area of the video to look back on.
i'm so glad my stuff makes you more confident in making suits!
I guess youtube thinks I’m a furry and I need to watch this. Well, they’d be wrong, but I see why they think that.

watching this makes me relize how much actual work it is to make a fursuit head. that's crazy.
it really is XD most of the price of a fursuit head commission comes from the time and effort it takes to make!! the materials are honestly usually less than $200
Yeah ive jist dine a head base, taken me a week, havent even gotten to furring yet. And its no where near the standard of these great fursuit makers
I'm helping my daughter make one and this by far is the best tutorial I've seen! Thank you! I look forward to watching more!

@@freckledcatcreations it really has been. Now we have to find a good video on shaving techniques. We borrowed a pet shaving Whal, and set aside each sample of the fur so we could use it as reference when shaving the actual fur for her suit.
@@AmyChappell ooh, good luck, hopefully you can find some stuff on youtube or elsewhere! I'm sure I wont get to make a tutorial like that in time for y'all, but its definitely a good idea for a future video if I can get a good filming angle.

Right now a lot of people I want to commission for a partial either don't take commissions from minors or won't take commissions for some time so I'm thinking about making my own mini partial. The head is really the only part I'm stumped on so this is a big help!!
You are SO welcome!!! And yeah, it's not that they hate minors, it's just that a ton of minors go behind their parents back, and then the parents tell the maker to give the money back, even when the maker has already started work. There are still some makers who will work with minors though, like me! I've seen most people just ask for a copy of the parents ID , and have an email from the parent saying the commission is accepted or something.
But yea! Anyway! Good luck on your head!!!!! Hope this is helpful! And be sure to check out my other tuts on foam carving / etc! :D
I know a fursuit maker that’s actually a minor herself and is open for commissions
@@somnolentCyanide Oh that's great to hear!! I've met a 13yo maker who makes incredibly refined fursuit heads. It's nuts, the good makers keep starting out younger and younger! Pls no. I'm not hating, and you can, but I've found that makes it a lot easier for everything to just fall apart. And, it looks a lot less nice. It doesn't take a beating like it should, and will eventually peel back and stop looking normal. This is just my experience tho (which is not as much as people might think. I've only made like, five actually good heads. ;-;)
You can’t really glue it on cause if you wash it, it will soften the glue and it will just fall off in the end since you need to wash it regularly anyway have you made it can I see it? :)

the way you secure your stitching makes me feel dumb for how I've been doing it (aka just tying knots until the anxiety says I can stop). OTHERWISE AMAZING VIDEO. I mean I knew fursuits were very labor/skill intensive but i've never actually watched it get done before.
Oh gosh, yeah, All other sewing tuts just mention tying a big enough knot that it wont pop through the weave of the fabric... and im like.... with enough force, any knot can pull through. Why tie it like that, when you could have the thread hold onto ITSELF and not onto the fabric? I'm so happy you liked the video!! Hope you can translate some of this into your own crafts!
Ugh with the music and your style of doing things and the soft colors I didn't want to stop watching, as someone who has made like one and a half (partial) suits i LOVE this

Your tutorials are wonderful and concise, and it’s been amazing to see how much youve grown as a creator. it was such a pleasant surprise to find your channel while doing some late night suit research! ^^
Thank you so much! I'm so happy with how I've progressed in the channel!! :D
I've been getting these types of vids in my recommendations for a while now and I'm honestly pretty fascinated.
The effort you guys put into these suits is amazing and they always end up looking great! Awesome vid
_(I think im slowly becoming a furry though and that scares me lol)_
u should lol
HEHEHE!!!! Well if you do want to join the fandom (no pressure!) then welcome!! And thank you so much for appreciating all the hard work that goes into these! I swear we really get so much hate but for the most part all of us are just wanting to be cute animals.
@@freckledcatcreations i find the fandom pretty interesting to say the least
It honestly seems like such a wholesome and fun community
I think im okay with joining
Hey, I love this tutorial thank you so much. Do you have to sow the pieces together, or would it be easier to just glew them onto the head separately? 💖
you really need to sew them together! if you just glue them down, you will see all the raw edges of the fur and it will look adn feel messy :0
@@freckledcatcreations you are so helpful, thank you 💓
Best video ever. You explain and show everything so well! I have been looking for a video on how you fur your fursuit head but i never found a video that helped. Thank you so much for making this!
I'm so glad!!! Yeah, I'm also a person whos EXTENSIVELY researched fursuit tutorials over the years before making my own, and there are some really badly explained sections. Definitely wanted to go REALLY in depth on this since people still were unsure. So glad it helped you!!!!
Finally a youtuber that uses the metric system! To hell with an eighth of an inch!
Me at 3 : 00 am.:
* Sees a random fursuit making video. *
"Pfffft! Sleep? What's that?"
* Procedes to binge. *
(I do this because I have insomnia anyways, so not watching videos would just be me, awake, and bored.)
Same xD
I know fursuits are complicated but dang, you have great skill! How long did it take you to learn all this?
I've been sewing regular clothing since 2013, making fursuits since 2018, and i'm STILL learning new / better techniques!! @w@
Lovee youuu! You went so beautifully in depth! Thank you for the time lapses!
Glad you enjoyed!
Thank you SO MUCH this cleared up the little details that I was unsure about. And really helped me understand the smaller tips and tricks. ^^
You are so welcome!!! i knew an in depth furring tut was needed so I tried my BEST to get like, every detail i could think!
