    • @freckledcatcreations
      @freckledcatcreations  Před 4 lety +8

      THank you so much!! I actually think most people DONT line their armsleeves - which is why I thought that a tutorial on how to line them would be needed! Since the couple of tuts out there only show how to make the fur part.
      You put the elastic connecting them because if not, then the arms would slip down your arms all the time! Another way to keep them up would be putting elastic in the top cuff of the sleeves... but then that would be squeezing your upper arm, and possibly cutting off circulation. The elastic strap is a safer way to keep em up!

    • @freckledcatcreations
      @freckledcatcreations  Před 3 lety +1

      My machine is a Singer Heavy Duty 4432, and you should use ballpoint needles for fur! ballpoint needles have a slightly rounded tip that helps the needle pass through between the fibers of woven fabrics like faux fur, and the needle doesn't pierce through the actual threads.

      no, the main uses are like if youre not sure you cut the elastic perfectly to your back and it's loose, the velcro will let you adjust the fit better. also, some people may be worried about the long elastic getting tangled up/caught in the washer, so if you separate the two arms from each other they'll get tangled up less.

      Oh, if you want lined sleeves for a fullsuit, the arms should just be a part of the bodysuit pattern, not separate items. But yeah, the shoulders should be patterned in! I can't tell you how since I haven't done that yet .
      As for lining the arms of a fullsuit, I haven't done that yet, but I think some hand sewing might be needed. sew it to the seam allowance at the top of the arm or something.

    So first off, you have the dame dragon candle wax melter as me, and second off, i am about to make armsleeves, and I want to have them be able to be connected and removed from the body piece. Is velcro or zippers the better option? (Btw im making the torso part removable from the legs and arms becuase i want to be able to wear a full suit, but also take the chest off if I get too hot, or just don't feel like wearing that specific peice)
    Edit: I just realized I was the 666 like

      Ooh, I have never done anything like that so I can't advise you much!! I feel like velcro would be easier to put in and doesnt take as much sewing knowledge. both ways would be strong. I spose it's your decision on which you think you can do? I have no idea how I would do it though....

    How big should seam allowance be?

    • @freckledcatcreations
      @freckledcatcreations  Před 4 měsíci

      It's up to personal preference! For hand sewing I like to use 1/2cm or so, super small. For sewing with your machine, commonly commercial patterns are intended to have 5/8" seam allowance. I do that with my kigus. Usually today for my fursuits I give them 3/8" seam allowance outside the pattern edge. (If youline up the edge of the fur with the edge of your presser foot, that is always 3/8" btw!)
