Three Cups on His Snare was a monster hit in an alternate universe. Sadly, I'm here.
I am 100% in favour of Joshua as the voice of jams, reading poetry and freestyling tributes to Robert Keeley. I would go and see this band for sure. I'm very happy with the show's continuing descent into freestyle improv surrealism. It's gone from a thing I enjoy every week to a real highlight. Keep it up.
Totally agree, the show has now evolved into a freeform creative vehicle for everyone, with great pedal showcases, the regular features and the new ideas like the poetry jams. Who knows where it might go?
Nick’s fill at 28:30 was so slick. I had to rewind that several times. I have to assume that if everyone hadn’t muted their mics we would have heard everyone in the room saying “ohhhhhhhh!” At that moment.
Ok, Joshua definitely needs some vocal pedal effects for his poetry. He’s earned them!

Like a Voice Tech lol
8:30 - Moon Fuzz
16:00 - Octonaut Drive
22:30 - Gaia Drive
24:50 - Meadow Sweet Chrous
37:10 - Sensation Overdrive
46:00 - Aqua Bats Falcon Drive
56:00 - Land Auto Swell
I watch this video once every couple of weeks. The Octonaut/Snow Day Delay Jam is hands down one of the best things that JHS has put out for us to witness. Thanks.
The Aqua Bats are super rad.
Joshua has the perfect voice for reading poetry over the jams
FUN FACT! In the late 90s, I saw the Aquabats open for Primus and Blink 182 in Rochester NY. It was billed as the Sno-Core Tour. This was the tour where a young Travis Barker gave up his superhero costume and joined Blink 182 right after this tour. I highly recommend you listen to the classic "Cat w Two Heads" when the Aqubats we're still ska.
You guys are a legitimately good rock band. These last few episodes have had some seriously great jams.
Greetings from the furure...loving these tones and riffs.
The talking and interaction is what makes this channel so entertaining.
This episode had everything, Klon Clones, Chorus, poetry, jams, and Rhett.
That Aquabat’s jam kind of had Miles Davis “So What” meets Soul Coughing “Sugar Free Jazz” vibe, Fanfuckingtastic!
Love the poetry readings Joshua!!! And I care about your pencils/pens... I'm a bit obsessed too. These poetry reading jams remind me so much of the Jim Morrison/Doors "An American Prayer" (listen to "Ghost Song" if you like this sort of stuff). Jim's poetry is awesome. THANKS JOSHUA!!!
Thank you!! Do you have a favorite pen or pencil? I'm going to show this comment to big Josh so that he knows the people care, lol.
@@jhspedals Yes! Sakura Pigma Micron 03 I have tons of them in different thicknesses and a few colors. Great fine-tip ink pens for writing or doodling! And yes, please do tell big Josh. Btw, favorite pencil for writing music... the Berol Electronic Scorer 350 Professor in music school made us write our scores with them... super soft and dark; you'll never write with a No. 2 again. OK I'm just as weird as you lol
Robert Keeley is the best product to come out of Oklahoma in the history of ever.
RECORD TIME SUGGESTION:
HUM’s “You’d Prefer An Astronaut”
Please check it out if you haven’t. This album takes “shoegaze” and smashes it with walls of trippy driven guitars, backed by unique, jaw dropping, drums. It a perfect use of the “shades of colors” sound, and “beautiful quiet to heavy” formula. It blows me away, thinking that, after 20 something years of listening to this album, Im still hearing these new little sound and textures. To this day, they’re still so influential to me and countless others..
Dang, that sounds epic. Thanks for the suggestion, internet stranger. I look forward to picking up a copy and giving it a spin this weekend in your honor.
They released another amazing album in 2022 called Inlet. So good.
Josh is totally the right age to be a Hum fan. Great band. I was once playing a gig about a half of a block away from Hum’s gig, when they were releasing the album after this. Yeah, my show was terrible …
Amen. Downward Is Heavenward too just as good if not better, massively underrated

“Like” for the Fresh Clips ad. That’s the content we’re here for.
Some of the best music y’all have ever done. Love the poetry reading. My kinda of genre. Great Pedals! Daughter loved it!!
🎸✌🏻🤟👽
WOW, Poetry over jams might be my new favorite thing!
The Aquabats jam might be my favorite so far. And I’m so happy that Joshua is part of the jams recently. He is the Jim Morrison or Jack Kerouac voice the jams have been missing. Don’t stop! And Josh, I appreciate his pen and pencil choices. Not everyone can be a Smokejumper
P.S. The show just keeps getting better and better. I rarely get to catch it live, but watching it is the first thing I do when I get home from work every Wednesday. Thanks to all of you, I look forward to it every week. Well done, good people!
Joshua's personality continues to shine through more and more. Thats the only reason I watch.
the poetry jam at 19:55 felt like Cake and I LOVE IT
Great episode. The poetry is the cherry on top that this hot fudge brownie sundae didn't know it needed... Great pedals, stellar jams.
Lol, thanks!
Listen, I don't know if this poetry slam stuff is here to stay...but I'm totally here for it!!
I'm floored that Josh is not aware of the myriad of Boss Slow Gear copies. I bought my OG Slow Gear in OKC in the mid-90's. Since then I've had Gauyatone, Pigtronix and Mooer copies (to name a few). **Special note:: The Pigtronix version (the Philosopher King) includes a compressor and outputs CV values, even when bypassed....great for CV controlled filter pedals. Melekko also make a great volume swell/ADSR pedal.
I can appreciate that Josh had to take the time out to rant about branding, he's absolutely right. You don't even have to have a good product as long as you can build a brand. Make or break kind of stuff right there.
Also, mad props to Nick on that Fresh Clips ad, probably the most badass video I've seen in a while.
Also, since I'm pretty sure Joshua is the one who reads the comments, DOOM METAL and I appreciate your appreciation for great writing utensils. I personally use Pigma Microns because I'm cheap and sometimes I like to pretend like I'm an illustrator. Keep up the great work amigo!
Worked 4 ever today... Listening to escape, thx for the show
Really awesome jams guys. Love the poetry.
Honestly Joshua’s spoken word poetry over the jams makes them into complete songs
I loved the way you set this video up thanks for all the info, that snow day delay! and Keeley on the Moon! Great video JHS and Team!
Bought a jhs reverb pedal not too long ago and I love it, the pre delay is super nice. Just found the channel and I love it too lol. Keep up the great work guys
The accompaniment to the “Daniel Lanois” piece was particularly well done.
I love your shows and everyone who is involved!!! Thanks for all of your hard work and tomfoolery, it really makes you so much better than the rest!
Can’t wait to start my own JHS collection, cheers all!!!
Wonderful episode, gents. Thanks to you all.
Nick with the Aquabats cap and goggles reveal warmed my entire heart up 💙🦇
Nicks drums always sound so good
5:11 I care about mechanical pencils. Thank you Joshua. I come for the pedals, but stay for the pencils.
Who wants to rotate the whole pencil and have the clip resting against your hand. That's just not comfortable. I appreciate that you appreciate 0.5 mm pencils.
This is amazing. Thank you for your support.
The poetry jam disturbed the cat on the windowsill.
You can use that as a title of your book.
I‘ve only arrived at the first jam and I had to listen/watch twice! So so beautiful. Very La Dispute-esque! Might listen a third time. My mind is blown away!
I swear to GOD! This is the best episode of the JHS show. Put it in the archive. The Jamz, The memeable faces, the glitches, the pedals, the best. You guys have been good from the start, and hovering around great for a long whlie, but this episode was great. Like, within the context of human history great.
Josh^2 is gonna need some vocal effects to help him cut a bit with the poetry... which is an issue I'd contemplated at great length, but couldn't find a solution to: JHS band needed vocals. Couldn't figure it out... and now organically? Can it be? You've figured it out? Anyway, the second Josh needs some filtering, and drive on his voice to find his niche in the mix. Maybe something to give him some space. I'm sure y'all will figure it out.
God Bless!
I was thinking the same thing about the vocal effects when I watched this earlier!
This episode was a lot of unnecessary bs. I don’t need expensive pens or poetry read to me nor do I need to watch you eat.
Josh is a dude.
We got some stuff from Flamma for my voice, but it was acting up. We'll figure something out eventually.
I actually really liked the way it was in the mix, not drowned out but also not right up front and present. Gave a cool vibe, reminded me of a scene in the Doors movie
Along with the Series 3 Chorus, that MeadowSweet pedal is making me think maybe I don't loathe chorus as much as I thought I did.
You know that's right!
Same here
Fantastic playing guys. Cheers from Portugal.
That auto swell peddle sounds like a dream. It needs to be on my grindcore board
Mechanical pencil prices just sky rocketed!
😂
The JHS show has been helping me get through some rough nights lately. I bought the Pulp n' Peel which is supposed to come tomorrow and I can't wait! KC pride, yo.
Thanks for watching, Cole! I'm glad we could be part of your journey. Keep up the good work 💪🏼
That first jam was my favorite one yet. It had an example what each your strengths are, even the poem was the most 🔥 one yet. 🤘🤘🤘
Josh.. never stop demoing .. that seche was aces !!! Top draw team .. loved the poetry over the top
Should Josh stop making pedals and start creating fantastic music ? I don’t know, probably I want him to do both.
He is the most under/rated player in the gear space.
Really creative and expressive.
Both
I'd totally buy the JHS best of album... better than most of the music coming out these days lol
Josh love his bicycles too much to stop with the pedals.
@@MrScrofulous I'm with you on this 100%
Whatchin' it and Lovin' it ,Thanks guys ...
Joshua reading that poem during the first jam was SO. DOPE.
Make that a thing!
Joshua’s writing instruments are part of the show. Many of us are into fine pens and pencils and it is good to know what the intellectual member of the team is currently enjoying.
Thank you. I'm showing Josh this comment right now. lol
All the jams were very cool , great pedals that first jam reminded me of something one might hear as a soundtrack for a scary movie .......rocking it !
10:25 - 13:30 This is one of the main reasons I’m such a big fan of JHS. You guys have incredible chemistry with one another, both socially and musically. The pedals you make are amazing and I love how passionate you all are about the work of other pedal makers as well! Your passion is contagious!
There's so many builders you need to do a "what's the deal with" episode Meris, Land Devices, etc. DO IT!
Here for the jams, poetry is fantastic :)))
My gosh Josh! Loved your playing in this.
That was great convo and playing
That was a really cool poetry jam
When turtles go down... guy ah ... that was the best jam yet! Those boxes are like baseball cards... won't be able to give those away in 20 yrs... I think you have accomplished your goal... wtf is not a clone lol... Eventually I'll get a pulp and p and a color box... I love your channel! You need bass switches on all your boxes... make all the Tim escobedo pedals and have a show about them... your show kicks ass!
Mooer “Slow Engine” auto swell. I’ve had it in my board for a couple years. Great jams today. Cool pedals as well. Loads o’ fun!!
You absolutely need to make a pedal for Addison called the bass face
YESSSSSS
What's with bass face? Isn't the bassist supposed to stand back, in the shadows, looking as if they need to be somewhere else right now? Then check out Juna Serita and Mohini Dey...Bass face extraordinaire.
The song played for the Aquabats pedal was appropriate. Their sound tends to be a magical blend of new wave, surf, and ska and that detective jam was perfect for it. Also, I think the pedals have just started being shipped out. They took preorders and I just recently got notification that mine has shipped.
Yes you need to watch sling blade!
Oh boy, these jams are just incredible.
Y'all are killing it
Great jams!
First tune sounds like it’s front Blade Runner. Love it
Onset...just ordered the pedal..OMG...love it!
I wish these guys would make an album!! Seeing how theyve totally bit my style without the ever hearing it,,,i think it would be bad ass
The absolute best thing about mowing lawns is Listening to music....my intro to the pink Floyd album animals...I was mowing my then mother inlaw's property....also back then 1988 we had Walkman's sooooo I put in pink Floyd animals on cassette....I instantly became a fan. It was the summer of animals as I call it..
King Gizzard and the lizard wizard for the win
All hail the King
The jams had a Doors theme with the spoken word! Sounds awesome!
Jams with poetry is my new favorite vibe.
Also, Muji.38mm pens are my standard--haven't found a .28 that isn't scratchy and miserable. Finally--please release the Robert anthem as a single, because I need a soundtrack to hype up the hard days!
Muji!!! They're so good.
Yeap, very entertaining episode, possibly best one I have seen from yous guys. Going to get the Moon, like now now.
Yeah, it was super cool.
I was absolutely rocking out to this episode... SICK JAMS/Poetry guys! Maybe it's the pedals or maybe this is evidence that Addison final listened to OK Computer.
46:30 this is One of the many reasons why I Love this Channel the humor just fits soo perfect 😂
Nice t-shirt Nick. Very refreshing!
Does the addition of poetry to the jams remind anyone else of mewithoutyou? Loving it.
That meadowsweet sounds amazing! Would love that bend knob with expression pedal control.
Went to go get the Meadowsweet soon as I heard your jam and now it’s sold out :) Good job guys! Love to see some success and it’s a great pedal. I guess I’ll have to wait and get the new Maestro chorus for now 🤘
Fwiw they restock fairly quickly.
So great !you know it would be nice that poetry gets really included in your jams ( i mean soundwise) and that there could be a second Line mic with vocal fx pedal for Joshua !
Thanks for the good time !
thank you!
Good episode! Music was hot. I don't know how I'd feel having a frosty the snowman pedal on my board. Good sounding pedal though!
I’m totally buying one of those pencils.
43:50 - Robert Keeley Anthem, known simply as "Robert".
Lawns iz hard... GREAT show. Onward!
I just want to point out that before Blink 182 Travis Barker was in the Aquabats. He was known as "Baron Von Tito".
That first jam was fucking epic!
Loved that Jamtopus.......You've really got something there with the poetry reading. If you work on tone, word phrasing, tactical pauses, etc. that will be ridiculously over the top good.
Best. Glitching. At the end. Ever.
Sweet pedals
From Sweet people 🙏Namaste 🙏
58:05 - reminiscent of the Digitech Space Station. Wonderful sounds. Also, great soles Mr Scott.
Ok, as far as I’m aware, you guys have inadvertently created a new genre : random jams with loud angry poetry. I can’t think of a snazzy name to accompany it but please keep doing it because I’m here for it
(I’m well aware that this genre probably already exists…)
That moon jam was sick guys
First jam absolutely slapped
This episode demands that Dweezil Zappa be a guest in the very near future 😎
That first jam was Odins fire 🔥
Okay I know I'm talking too much but I'm really excited about this video that song was freaking awesome I really did y'all's Channel man it's pretty cool more closer to my heart you know
🖤🖤🖤
So much to watch still, best show than game of thrones, greetings from chile
