THIS VIDEO IS INTENDED FOR ADULTS.
i find that if you spray alcohol in ur paint before pouring if tends to do muddy colors but if i spray it after streching the paint it blows bubbles and make cells xx
I don’t think the alcohol will continue to degrade the paint. Once it evaporates it’s done. I too preferred the one on the left prior to drops of alcohol. I thought a flick of a toothbrush dipped in alcohol would bring out some neatly dispersed cells.
I love how you are not afraid to try the different mixtures and compare. This proves to me that it's ok to mix the pouring medium (flotral) and apply rubbing alcohol w/out an explosion. lol Thank you
+carol spitko lol yes, I didn't explode :) let me know if there's any other dangerous mixture you'd like me to try for you :)
I’m impressed with the alcohol and paint. The red and blue are clearly visible and the white and yellow are more muted, but still my favorite of the two pours! The paint and Flotrol is brighter because the white is prominent and covered the primary colors. Even though the Flotrol painting has more cells, I truly prefer the alcohol painting. Looking forward to trying the alcohol mixture with some different color combinations! I enjoy watching your creative videos! Keep on sharing your beautiful artwork!
Thanks for letting us see your experiment. The effects are quite different so both techniques can be useful. With no medium and alcohol evaporating the paint will dry more quickly thus limiting scope to manipulate the outcome but the overall effect is pleasingly smooth. The alcohol drops on the other hand can jazz up a pour. I can imagine creating jellyfish on an ocean pour!
+Kath Stewart Yes! That would be awesome ;)
Will alcohol ruin the painting over time? Can this be archival? Thanks
As I scroll through all expert pouring videos....I realize I enjoy yours more than others. Thank you for all your experiments...if I think about it, you usually try it. Thanks again! 😊 Happy painting!
+Darlene Baldwin awww thanks! I'm always open to suggestions as well :)
A very interesting comparison......I can see the merits of pouring both ways.......for instance, on the right side painting, that just has the alcohol in it. you could do an "area" pour with the silicone and control where you want a "cell colony" to live......I think that's awesome! Thank you!
+Holly-Anne that's true! That would be an interesting experiment.... :)
I’m taking art therapy classes! And it was yesterday the instructor was talking about alcohol (rubbing) mixing it with acrylics. We didn’t have class that day. But she said google it. And I did!! Have to sai I ‘liked’ and subbed! Your work was (is ) stunning!
As you were pouring the left side mixture I was watching the colors pop from the paint alcohol mixture. Wow the colors are vivid. I liked both. Good experiment.
+Mustard Seed thanks!
I like the one with just the alcohol better. The colors have more of a gradual blending happening that helps add more depth. Thinking of doing some with just the alcohol.
+Karen Escalera thanks :)
Thanks for sharing! Somewhere along the line I saw in a video of someone spraying a tiny bit of alcohol in to help get the bubbles out from stirring, and that’s what I’ve been doing. I may try doing my next one without adding a couple tiny sprays of alcohol to my paint cups before I layer them.
I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS VIDEO FOREVVVER!😭😭THANK YOUUUU
GUYS when you do this, you should pour the pain onto the canvas as soon as you put the alcohol in otherwise it will evaporate, and you'll get some beautiful cell looking effect
Ah thank you so much yet again!! I was wondering how to get the tendril bubble like pattern and alcohol is the answer. I'm doing experiments at the moment with virtually no knowledge of pours and as soon as I'm wondering about a particularly effect I see a video from you on it! Thanks so much again, you're doing great
Bought myself some canvasses from the dollar store. Can't wait to try this project. It looks amazing! !! Tfs.
you did not say what the ratio of acrylic paint to isopropyl alcohol was: 50/50, 80/20.... ? I would like to try this, what ratio?
I just found her reply to someone else and she said it was about a 50/50 ratio.
i find putting the alcohol in a spray bottle proves useful for popping bubbles in the paint and making smaller cells, as opposed to pushing the paint around on the surface. i really love the technique when i pour, spray, and then spread the paint around
+CasualSpoon yes, I've done this as well :)
I’d love to see what would happen if you use a toothbrush to flick alcohol on a painting, so you get an even smattering of tiny droplets all over.
I love your videos! But I wish you would show them after they dry at the end. Just curious if they've all dried nice or if any of the stuff you added (ex. Alcohol, pva, just water) has caused them to crackle or change in any way while drying.
You are so darling and enjoyable! 🙏🌈💜 I haven't started my pour journey yet, but was gifted some Floterol recently so soon to begin! Lots of ideas thanks to you, keep up the colorful work!
I love the use of the alcohol because of the nice affects however, please be careful. I used the 91% and got some on my hands because I didn’t think it would hurt me almost 2 weeks ago . I thought it would be ok to put my gloves on just to tilt and move the paint after the alcohol was added. WRONG! on my part ! It got on my hands and now MY HANDS ARE NOT ONLY PEELING AND DRIED OUT BUT THEY ARE SORE WITH ALCOHOL BURNS! I’m hoping they heal soon. Please advise your subscribers and for your safety too, to wear the gloves while handling the alcohol.
I love you and your creations. I want you safe!
Hugs,
Rose 🌹
Rosemarie Kosma i used alcohol to try and freshen/sanitize the insides of some shoes and didnt give em enough time to dry before i wore them the next day. worst foot peel ever. not at all luxurious.
Rosemarie Kosma very helpful thank you I do acrylic flow painting and alcohol ink paintings so deal with a fair amount of 91%alcohol and never had a clue that this could happen. Thank you again
thats why you should ALWAYS use gloves!
Rosemarie Kosma thanks and hope u r ok now
The dripped alcohol reminds me of moon craters. Thank you for sharing!
If you mixed the paint in the cups the same way, the only reason I can think of the darker colors with the alcohol pour is to to the lower surface tension of alcohol and it's allowing the paints to mix instead of sitting on top of one another...
+malcolm wiseman possibly :)
from google; "Isopropyl alcohol... it usually contains 70% by volume of absolute alcohol or isopropyl alcohol; the remainder consists of water, denaturants, and perfume oils..." ............. Thanks,, groovy vids.. I always give ya a thumbs up..
I am very new to pouring. But, i have seen a few recipes the require 90% and up. You can find Isopropyl Alcohol 90% and up at your local beauty supply. JIC your looking for it... Much love XOXO #thumbedup #JIC
I was very recently introduced to the fun of acrylic pour painting and find that your videos are so helpful, enjoyable, easy to understand, and create some wicked pretty pieces. I created my first one with bare bones beginner knowledge and your videos have given me tons of ideas to play with. Thank you and please, keep 'em coming. Cheers!
+Chrissy Ferguson thank you!
Great experiment! The left side with the alcohol is really pretty. The yellow in the corner look like flowers.
+susan davenport thank you!
Thats a toss up! I really like them both. Thank you for all your experiments :)!
+Lissie Flowers thank you!
My opinion I prefer the 1 on the right with the achool . There both cool that is just the 1 I like better out of both of them TFS AND showing us the difference
Wow! I really like them both! Thanks for sharing this experiment. I just started pour painting, and I'm loving it!!!
New subscriber!
Also, the title is fantastic!
This is always so much fun to see. I think you might call these paintings "Night and Day".;-)
Fantastic video hun! I really like the alcohol put on afterwards I’m gonna try it with a spray bottle! Xx
the one on the right feels like outer space and I love it!
+Dayle Van Massenhoven thanks! Me too :)
I love the paint and alcohol look
Yes, I'll watch for that. Thanx
Both are beautiful! I think I liked the red cells better before adding alcohol, but even so very cool experiment! Did you see the heart it made?
Nice. I really like the effects when alcohol drips. Thanks for your videos.
+N McD Thank you!!!
hi from the uk i wonder if you have ever had any problems with the paint missing in small
circles mostly on the canvas edge i can get round this by filling in i have just finished a
24x36 inch i do use silicon, coconut serum, water repellent not all at the same time,
Ifind my drying time is a lot longer than yours up to three weeks due to our cold wet uk weather
regards KA
I like the right one too! 👍
You need a mustard/ketchup bottle filled with white fluid paint or (Alchohol or watered) down. So when you run into a particularly dark area or you need to create a composition you can easily add in your white, or whatever color actually, I have tons but it's usually gonna be your white that you need. That would have worked really good for lightening the bottom left quarter w/out disturbing the rest of your composition. Yellow would have worked too. Either way, Great job & TY4S! 😃 Happy Painting!
+F.I.N.E Forever Is Not Enough thanks! I appreciate you watching :)
Interesting experiment! Thank you.
I always put 2 drops in all my paints I mix and I never had trouble with it some one told me if you put 2 drops at least of the 91% it helps to stop bubbles from forming but I have never been brave enough to try more than 2 drops lol but I must say I really don't get many bubbles I mean I do get some but not near as many as I did before using the achool unless it's just all in my head lol
I love them both!! You do a wonderful presentation. Thanks!
I love both of the effects.
So cool! amazing, nice experiment
The left one looks like a rainbow galaxy to me 🤩
How much alcohol in the original colors on the right? I wonder how the one on the right would do with the same dripping on top of alcohol after the pour and tilt? I do like them both...
I like your experiments, it’s fun to see 👏😀
On the alchohol experiment: Very different. But really like both. Wonder what would happen if u drop alcohol inks drops.
+Jeannie Winters i had that thought too! Future experiment :)
both are cool but I would do the alcohol and paint in different colors now that you see how it does. I do like the alcohol drops on the regular. WOuldn't do but a couple I don't think though. THanks!!
+Lori McGarrity thanks!
I love the drip effect of the one on the left
What is the drying time? Can you make another video of the painting a few days later for comparison?
+John Repan less than a day :) I usually post the pics when they're dry on my Instagram :)
Can you put sealer (varnish) on the alcohol painting? How would you finish on it?
The rubbing alcohol give it almost a 3D look to it.
Gorgeous do you think it would work on the yuppo paper as well have you tried it thanks
So....kind of a curiosity. If you mixed some paint with alcohol and some with you regular mixture and poured them all together would that change which colors would show through? For example, I think in one of your vids you had said red tends to show through a lot in cells because it is a lighter pigment and less dense....so since alcohol is lighter than water would it make a difference in the cells? Not sure I am explaining myself well....lol!
That would be a very interesting experiment! I feel like the density of the paint would still take over but I'm not sure :)
I wonder what would happen if you did this stuff but with a clean pour. Do you think the alcohol paint would retain the colors more?
So far I really like the one you did second. I will be trying this soon.
Oh my gosh, about 3 minutes in, the red in the alcohol piece kind of looks like Abraham Lincoln. Lol So cool! I love those dark colors, though. And it looked like part of the white was trying to peek through in the upper left, but wasn't quite making it. Kind of like the sun trying to peek through the clouds on an overcast day. Ok, now to finish watching the coolness happen. 😊
Cool end results on both. I like the alcohol drops on the left piece, and the right piece still looks like a face, but not as much Lincoln anymore. Really neat, both of them.
Very cool. But what was the ratio of paint to alcohol please?
That's my question too. I'm going to keep scrolling to see if it's in the comments.
I used as much of it as I would have used water. I generally don't measure but my best guess is about 15% alcohol, depending on you paint
Thank you
I’m white Liquitex paint curdled. I had 91% alcohol would that make a difference?
Way cool! They both look awesome!
I really like both.
Mixedmediagirl.com now has her own line of pouring paints, cups, resin and art kits!❤️
Is your paints in the alcohol pour painting diluted w water? Thr paints i usually use comes in tubes and thick as paste
Hi mixed media girl that was very informative and I'm going to try it out so thanks for showing us have a great rest of the day just Janet from Colorado
I love watching these videos
I see a skull & semi-cross in the painting on the left. Nice experiment. Thanks.
How much alcohol per paint cup did you use? Did you mix it in, or just leave drops of it and stir as little as possible? Enjoy your videos very much!
I loved the look of the one with the alcohol
+Trish Egerter thanks!
I like BOTH....so there. :)
+Judy Frank thank you!
how much paint do you use on your typical canvas (and what size would they be)
This was so informative and fun! Thank you very much for doing this for SCIENCE!
Ratio of alcohol to paint? Stiring, did it requiring more, or less, than when using other mediums?
With alcohol darker, deeper, richer more beautiful outcome. Thank you.
I liked it after the alcohol drops
The alcohol on the paint is pretty neat. I think it would be cool to do some shapes and see how that would turn out. Maybe A Cross, a heart some squiggles 😊
How much alcohol did you put in the paint? 1-1 ratio? 2-1?
I just found her reply to someone else and she said it was about a 50/50 ratio.
It is always fun to see the mixing of the colors. When you put yellow into white it looks like my breakfast egg :-D. besides that... I like the non alcohol more because with alco it looks too blurry (for me). the alcohol-drops in the flotrol-picture looks intresting, giving the picture kind of a moonlandscape.
Happy greetings from Germany
Chris
+MTP Ghost thanks!
I think the alcohol on the left one made little planets! I'd be curious to see what it'd be like to spray or squirt in a ziz zag all over the canvas with the alcohol.
+champagnesupernoel yeah that would be a fun experiment ;)
very interesting. love them.
+agnes ashford thank you :)
how much alcohol did you use in how much paint? very cool!
thank you:)
A great demo💕
on the one to the right how much alcohol did you use to mix?
I loved the look of alcohol! I will try this.
+Shy M thanks!
I wonder if it would even be possible to spray paint on a canvas through a spray bottle
How much alcohol do you add to each color?
Will the alcohol still allow it to stick to the canvas long term?
Did it cause fractals?
I think if she had used the torch it would have been different results. Also, flotrol is a medium. Then why did you use no medium like Elmer's PVA glue in the alcohol only one?
What would have happened if you dripped silicone on it?
very cool...
When I go to the craft store, what do I ask for canvas or what kind of board?
+John Repan just ask for canvases :)
What was the ratio of alcohol to paint?
You do Amazing Art. I'm just Starting. Do you have a Video About Finishing the Painting for Show and Sale.
What is your normal mix? I like the first one a lot. Is it floetrol and paint only? What Ratio? Just found you and like what you are doing. Keep up the good work.
Nevermind I see your other video. Thanks
+Sharon Crumley Studios, llc ok, let me know if you have any other questions :)
so you're not using craft acrylic like from Walmart right? Those are too thick for pouring. Unless you know of way to thin them?
Mixedmediagirl.com now has her own line of pouring paints, cups and resin!❤️
Mixedmediagirl.com now has her own line of pouring paints, cups and resin!❤️
What was the pouring medium used with the colors with NO alcohol?
I loved... Congrats!!!!
have you ever used baby oil in your paintings? love your videos btw!
+Bobby Hill i haven't, but its on the list to try!
Anybody else see the red face?
+Lisa Stumpf well I do now! :)
Yes I did. I was afraid she would lose it
I was about to mention that face :)
I see it too.
I do. I commented on it as soon as I saw it tonight, then commented again once the video was finished. Then I scrolled through the comments, wondering if anyone else saw the face. So cool!
With the one that is just paint and alcohol, how much alcohol in each paint ? TY
+Katharyn Cade about 25% alcohol and 75% paint
